I think Mr Hickman will do fine if folks give him a chance. The supe is sweating bullets hoping he does or he could be doing a "wanna get away commercial" and Siberia won't touch it.  This whole Mustang thing is time tested and did not happen by accident.  I hope it continues with maybe even a wrinkle or two thrown in.  If not I wouldn't be in this Supers shoes if he threw in the britches.  Let's see what happens.

.

Thank You!

Head Coach Randy Smith 6 years @ Silsbee 44-29 record.

2016- 6-5

2017- 7-5

2018- 10-5

2019- 9-5

2020- 7-4

2021- 5-5

Silsbee should have several state titles. They get some of the best athletes in the state on a year in year out basis. I’m still confused as to why Silsbee has yet to get turf on their field? That’s “one” sign that football is not “very” important there.

I guess the question is whether "fine" is good enough for WOS.  "Fine" is good enough for BC.  Heck, "Ok, I guess" is good enough for BC.  "Pretty good" is okay with Silsbee.  WOS has always had the pinnacle of coaching.... "Fine", "ok," "pretty good" and "decent" is not what the Mustangs have had in the past.

Congrats on the "woke" hire.

Anybody wanna bet on how long until they start renaming stadiums and fields over there, too?

We have plenty of basket ball courts. But the turf will come

And plenty of great basketball “players”….there’s no doubt in my mind that if Silsbee poured into football what they pour into b-ball they would have a few state titles in football. As previously mentioned, Silsbee is loaded with athletes.

Hopefully they will connect the dots soon. There is some good talent coming up, and I could see some deep playoff runs.

Yessir anytime I’ve ever watched Silsbee play, I just sat in amazement at the caliber of athletes they have. If they can indeed get the dots connected, and put football “first”, then it would be state title city in Silsbee.

PS. What do y’all run offensively these days?

Silsbee’s biggest problem in football is the lack of defense. If the defense tightens up I think the Tigers could be real good.

That is very interesting. So Silsbee didn’t hire him as HC even though he was already there as an assistant and they knew what they’d be getting. Makes one think. Or it should.

1. That was a few years ago

2. More than 1 able coach was interviewed. They could only pick one. Maybe they wanted a fresh look.

I think what bothers me the most and many others, is from the very day CT announced his retirement, many were saying the new coach was already on staff that the superintendent already had his candidate. The posting of the job, accepting applications, conducting interviews was all just a formality. Just going through the motions. That makes it seem as though he’s trying to put his personal spin or agenda on the program. Makes it seems sinister. Makes you believe if Todd Dodge applied or Surratt from Carthage they would have been turned down too.

You’re silly.

    • He actually had a pretty solid year for a sophomore starting in that district. I can assure you, it hasn't hurt his recruiting at all and that will only improve with the move back to the Wack.
    • If Crumedy eventually has bigger aspirations than being in Jasper, every aspect of the program will be looked at when someone interviews him for any job. He knows that. The mindset needs to be that any time someone wears a Jasper uniform, that they're doing everything they possibly can to win. It matters.
    • This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It's a poll but I could definitely see this as realistic.   From the article: Catholics in the United States have swung dramatically against President Biden in recent years, now boasting a significant statistical break towards his GOP challenger. Pew Research released on Apr. 30 a report exploring support for presidential candidates sorted by religious affiliation. The poll found that 55% of Catholics support or lean towards supporting former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head against Biden. Conversely, only 45% of Catholics support Biden in the same one-on-one pairing. The 12% margin of support in favor of Trump marks a significant shift from 2020, when he held an extremely narrow lead — 50% to 49%. Biden currently leads among Hispanic Catholics with a narrow 49%-47% split, but the close contest marks a major shift rightward for the demographic. In 2020, a similar poll from Pew Research found Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump with a staggering 67%-26% split.
    • You said a lot there. Truthfully, that is the root of the issue. Who cares what a kid thinks about how coaches are running a program? Kids play, coaches coach. For some reason, parents have this backward in a lot of places and its wreaking havoc.
    • He's already stated he's a huge Clinton fan.
