My sister is fresh out of the DPD academy.  She was on her way to work the protest and got called off because of a DWI accident while she was on her way.  At least one officer shot was a member of her graduating class that I met personally last month when I went to watch my sister graduate.  Thankfully that officer is expected to survive.  Her best friend was working riot control and is not answering texts, but we're hoping he's not answering due to the fluid nature of the situation.  This is a terrible night for law enforcement.  Please keep my sister in your prayers.  She's not taking this well, as is to be expected.

I kind of hear what you're saying however for the most part you're wrong. 
 Fishing without a license is a state law and whether you could be arrested varies from state to state.  In some states you cannot be arrested for an offense that allows for a citation.  Immigration is under federal law  per the Constitution  and has absolutely nothing to do with state law as does fishing licenses.
 Illegal entry into the United States is seen much like trespassing. In Texas for example you're never trespassing unless you have been given proper warning  as described by law.  It is the same with entry into the United States. 
 If a person comes over the border without proper documentation and is caught, he should be sent back by law and given a warning. If that person reenters the United States he has committed a felony. 
 We have people they get caught time and time again. The problem is not the law but the person in charge not enforcing the law. 
 Like many of these political arguments, the person writing them  has no clue of the law.  They make these memes/photos and post them on Facebook and get 10,000 likes… But the law they talk about is not factual.  Go figure. 
 So here is the answer. Texas (and other states) has autonomy to make it's own laws. . Texas have a law where you can go to jail for most things that can be issued a citation including things like no fishing license, having a burned out license plate light or not using your blinker when turning in the vehicle. The  United States  has a law that says you can be charged with a felony if entering United States illegally as long as you have been given that first warning.  Texas law and United States law are independent and do not depend on each other.  Any comparison between the two is a folly to begin with and one has nothing to do with the other. 
 So I understand the complaint that the current occupant of the White House does not wish to enforce the laws that he does not like. That has nothing to do with Texas having the authority to arrest minor criminals or the United States having a law that allows the arrest of the illegal aliens but the guy at the top just doesn't like it.

My view on it is this
Be whatever you want to be. I have ZERO issue with someone elses sexuality or gender identification. I want to make that clear.
In regards to public bathrooms: If you have a penis, pee in the Mens restroom. If you do not, pee in the Womens restroom. 

I have known more than a few people in my lifetime who believe interracial relationships are forbidden by the Bible.  A poor interpretation of the "unequally yoked" scripture to be sure, but nonetheless those persons' "Christian" beliefs. I only mention it to point out the comparison actually isn't far fetched at all.  
LRF - your bakery examples are interesting points.  I would draw a significant distinction on the KKK analogy for obvious reasons but the "I heart bacon" cake example is on point IMO.  
I do get the point that a gay wedding cake does invoke religious principles.  I realize most of you guys do not agree with gays' right to marriage, but are probably more offended with the idea of having to "condone" these marriages by having to directly participate in the marriages (I.e., cake).  I get that and the religious freedom argument.    And for what it's worth, I would have a much bigger problem with someone refusing to sell a dozen cookies to a gay person than the wedding cake issue.

I am a Republican. I don't think Teddy or Donny are right for our party. Also, I do not believe that either of them can beat Hilary head up, which is very sad. I think there are more Republicans that will admit there candidates suck more than Democrats. Nobody in their right mind can honestly think Hilary Clinton should be President, just has Donald Trump has no business. Unless something crazy happens and Kasich wins the election, this could be the worse election to ever happen to this country.
