Tough decision but shouldn't you want to stick with what's been working? The past 2 games the backup has managed the game pretty well and made some good throws when needed. Making that switch could mess up chemistry that they've built!

Well I secured my tickets for games 1 and 2…hopefully that’s all I need and they close it out. Pappasito’s for lunch tomorrow couple margs before the game check in at the Marriott Marquis and shoot over to the game.. Wednesday Brunch at Hull and Oak hang out by the pool, then eating at the stadium that night is what’s on the agenda. Let’s go Astros!

Not much to say—a better team kicked our butts. Let’s see how we respond this week. I don’t remember a single Crosby poster hyping this season, and we knew this would be a daunting challenge. We are the smallest school in 6A playing in what is likely the best district in 6A. The fact that we are staying in these games for a half shows we are competing, but we probably need a few more years of growth to build the depth these other programs have. In a different district—or with a different cutoff—I think we would like our chances a lot more. King, North Shore, Summer Creek, Atascocita, and Kingwood should all be heavily favored over us. Humble is likely favored as well, and Channelview may be the only true pick’em game on the district schedule.

This is our lightest week of the season pertaining to the amount of games for this week. Normally we have 50+ games but just 31 this week. I agree, but I won't argue that Gilmer's resume is pretty impressive, although they've beaten a lot of teams who were good last year but aren't doing so well this year. HF hasn't beaten a big name yet, but have absolutely dominated their last 4 games against some solid squads, and the LaMarque win has lost a little luster simply because LM is 2-3 against a very difficult schedule. If we beat WOS in two weeks we get in, and IMO if we do that we should jump into the middle somewhere, not just slide in at #10.

Correct. The VB team has a track record of beating good 6A teams for quite sometime, so the move to 6A shouldn't be a big issue for them. Maybe it is just been a case of nerves so far, but in past years the team would pretty much be on cruise control; that is why I said this season could be unfamiliar. The team does deserve their props for a good win against deer park, so hopefully for BH things are starting to get right.

So, if it's a close game, it must have been the officiating... cry me a river. Take the win and move on

Life long Buna resident, graduate, and fan. A couple positive notes to start. We do have a very talented Junior and Sophomore class a bunch of kids that play crazy hard for each other. They truly have bought in to the team and what they are trying to do. Now some hard facts. We played a powder puff schedule to start the season. Three teams that are not known for good football teams. We did secure a good win against Woodville. The offense is the most predictable I have ever seen. Same snap count every time never ever changing. I know its about establishing a rhythm with the Slot T. Against good teams you can't be predictable. East Chambers did what any good team does played disciplined defense, stayed in their gaps, didn't over run the play, & made clean tackles. We never adjusted at anytime during the game. Trahan just stayed with the script hoping something would change. It was 35-0 at the half so you figure hey we are going to change things up a bit. Nope not one come out and go right back to what hadn't worked the whole 1st half. At this point he is 5-19 in his 3rd year at the helm. We have O-Field and Anahuac back to back. Those will have to be mistake free and excellent games on both sides for us to have a chance in either. If we can pull off and win the last three games which are very winnable. Trahan three year record will be 8-22 after three full years. Year 4 will be a fully loaded squad that will be the defining year for his tenure with Buna Football. I pray it is everything we have been waiting on for almost three years.

No games are done at Stallworth for whatever reason. Sometimes Vype but that's hit or miss. It's like the Goose Creek district wants no games streamed there except if visitors have a broadcast entity and then they are not very accommodating. Trust me, I have been there to broadcast games in the past. I know TL no longer has a contract with them.

If I am over this infection by Thursday and feeling up to it, I'll be at Randall Reed for Lufkin/NC. At worst I'll watch it on TL.

I’m reluctant to make a prediction in this one. I will state that until WOS squeaked by the injury-riddled horns last year, the horns had won 3 straight, and out of that 5-year period this is the best HF team by a decent margin. Another thing that bodes really well for the horns is that their run defense has been fantastic this year. Jefferson is hard to slow down, but WOS may need to do some damage through the air to pull this one off.

I take it this view is thru Carthage glasses. Same view as seeing DCTF with a bias against Carthage? I hear that's the word but it's only coming from Carthage peeps. Pretty certain the view is quite different from a Mustang perspective. I have seen many many WO-S games in my lifetime and dirty is not their makeup.

1. Port Arthur (who will be able to pop them? At this point, I don’t know) 2. Laporte (they seem to not be as good as I originally thought they’d be to start the year, but they are still a good football team) 3. Beaumont United (if they play like they are capable every week, these guys will be a tough out for even LaPorte and PA) 4. Goose Creek ( again, a good football team that could beat every other team that’s NOT PA or LaPorte.

Your analogy with QB Babin does not apply at all. Babins is a good QB but even without Babin this years team is very likely still 5-0. No close games so far. BH has had a slow but steady accumulation of VB talent during the ascension from 4A to 5A to 6A. They dominated as each step up happened. Suddenly the wheels might be falling off in 6A. I could see a small step back, but not this. Still a long way to go but BH VB could realistically miss the playoffs. Adding one "Babin equivalent" VB player would not catapult this team to 1st place. I noticed you did not claim it was an overreaction when THS99 posted "BH could be headed for a rough and unfamiliar season". I am just saying the same.
