Coming from a guy whose team has been done for 4 weeks

I guess some people's memory is foggy. PN-G was beating SOC by double digits in the first half of 2022 and lost by 10. Then PN-G beats them the next year for the state championship. Last year's game obviously didn't go PN-G's way but that's why they play the game. PN-G has as good a chance of beating South Oak as anybody in this bracket. Including Richmond Randall. They beat them last year just like the Indians have. Let's play it on the field and find out.

Vidor, PN-G and United won their games. Evadale, Kountze, LCM, Hamshire-Fannett and Buna are not nearly as good as they have been the last several years. HJ, Onalaska and Bridge City are good teams but were matched up against some of the better teams in this event. Same goes for Nederland, Jasper and East Chambers. In just about every game played (16), the Louisiana teams had the larger enrollment vs. their Texas match up.

BC lost to Yates by 1 point in the playoffs last year. Yates was a better team than Denham Springs in my opinion. With what BC has been working with this season, a 30 point loss was better than what I thought it would be. BC has lacked defense in a terrible way so far. All of BCs losses have stemmed from that and selfishness. If BC would be able to meet up with Denham Springs again in a couple weeks, it would be a different outcome now that we have some defensive contributors. If anyone is bragging about beating BC so far this season, trust me, that is not a brag!

PNG has been very good under Joseph and staff. I am definitely pulling for them. I just think losing Bailey is going to hurt and the 2nd RB getting hurt vs Heritage will hurt. In order to win IMO, the receivers are going to have to do a much better job catching the ball than they did vs Heritage

I agree, neither team is the same as they were mid-season, nor should they be. 9-5A just proved to the rest of the region and to the state, that 9-5a can ball, too! PAM is gonna be tough, tough, tough. Can BH beat them, ABSOLUTELY, but if Morton isn’t back, it’s gonna be a lot more difficult! A LOT more difficult! PAM is definitely an elite team in 5-A D1, they have proven that all year long. BH, although I wouldn’t classify as elite, is very, very good…hard-nosed sort of good! They have developed into that “you get punched, you punch back harder!” sort of really good team! Reminds me of the ol K-State teams under Snyder! Maybe BH gets knocked back to reality on Saturday, and if so, BH can hold their head high, that’s for sure…what I do know though, is BH isn’t gonna just lay down because it’s PAM. We basically had “no chance” going into the Weiss game, and BH overcame adversity multiple times to a very good ballclub, too! Go get ‘em BH!

We all can go back two years ago and read all the post we made about SOC vs PNG in the championship game. I would be willing to bet similar post where made back then as they are being made now. PNG will win in a close one. Our defense is 10 times better than last season. SOC will have trouble scoring and the young men will be prepared as they have been every game this season. Speed? Every team we have faced is/was faster than PNG. lol that gets really old. Literally, SOC hasn’t seen a quality defense since Duncanville and we saw the outcome in that game.

Wow! Coach Simper in his first year with only 6 returning starters has done some that no coach has done in 49 years! BH defense is incredible and Barrier is on fire! Not to mention the FG kicker just Wow. Now we get a rematch with PAM . Who would have thought it would be BH and PAM for the Regional Finals LOL. I think we just proved who has the best district congrats to both

BH with no Morton hurts as well. Good game so far, BH dug themselves out of a huge hole to end up tied. Now it’s up to which coach makes the best adjustments at the half.

Fairly evenly matched teams. Weiss just sends the house every play and depends on the other team not being able to execute consistently enough and the ogffficials not being willing to call interference every play. Reminds me of Angleton. Neither team has a prayer against PAM.

Unfortunately SOC by at least 21. PNG doesn’t have the speed and secondary will get burned. Hopefully they can hold them to 35. PNG may get 14. 13-1 another great season for the Indians

vs North Shore QB was 12/17 120 yards 3 TDs vs Duncanville QB was 11/22 208 yards 1 TD vs Longview QB was 12/20 175 yards 1 TD The numbers are good (better than last year for sure), but its just the eye test, SOC and this QB look much more comfortable throwing it...better chemistry w/the WRs from playing 7on7 this year and it just looks like a competent passing game....now they haven't needed it in 2+ months and if PNG is able to make SOC throw maybe it looks bad....but I'm not betting on it

I feel PNG will have enough offense to move the ball. No mistakes can be made by the Indian Offense, i.e. turnovers. PNG Defense will play at a stellar level. I am looking forward to seeing this match-up this week. 🏈

Same here. I have not seen many passes from SOC. I feel like PNG’s defense is “stellar” right now as someone stated in a previous post. SOC also has a stellar defense as well. This game will definitely be a defensive battle. I still feel PNG will come away with the win. Scalp ‘em!

Injury, new coach, new staff, new teammates. All those. It gelled at the right time and they’ve hit their stride. Let’s hope it keeps ascending and BH can keep it rolling.

Good team with Chris Reed, Jeffery Matthews, DJ and others. They lost first round. All the schools went to the playoffs that year. Lincoln because someone had to forfeit in their district but still loaded with talent like Patrick Palmer, Shawn Giron, Brandon Queen, etc. TJ earned it with Lendon Henry, Daryl Johnson, Damon West and others. All 3 teams lost first round.

I've been told likely Doggett Friday night...Lamar is bigger but Doggett has nicer locker rooms and actually wants to host. I dont think either home stadium would be able to host this game properly Doggett is close to halfway so to me Easy call

Dumbest game I ever watched- neither of these teams would make the playoffs in 5-8D2. sad but true.

They tried to do matchups as best they could based on input from some coaches I’m assuming like Southerland etc to rank Texas teams with Louisiana teams and go as many good on good as they could. Our matchup wasn’t bad and gave us some good stuff to see. Loved how physical they let us play. Very well ran. Some schools just had some bad matchups athletically and size wise. I think our matchup with Alexandria was really good. Made us a lot better as no one on our schedule is that big and that athletic. Westwood will be athletic but they don’t have that size.

Most of the Texas schools that participated were much smaller schools vs. the teams they were matched up against. Also, several of the Texas schools that played are pretty down this season. On the surface, it looks like Louisiana cherry picked the match ups but maybe some of the better Texas teams were not interested in this event.

It's a very tough row to hoe for any "regular" 5aDII team to beat SOC. Randle perhaps can beat them again. PNG I think can hold their own if things don't get out of hand, and they do everything right, and the refs don't get intimidated and do their job and throw flags.

No such thing as reporting in HS. Pass had to be a lateral (backwards) to be legal and wasn't. Illegal touching comes with a loss of down. Because it was 4th down, game over and WOS advances. Good to be playing in December.
