I think Barbers Hill fans should be the last to talk about officiating when they clearly robbed PNG a week ago. Officiating everywhere is not great especially when your on the receiving end of a call. Coaches and kids cant coach/play and ref , if everyone does their job you can put yourself in a good position to win.

Is it safe to assume that you didn't read anything past the part of my response that you quoted? And no worries.. even if I were in the profession, I'm not the type of personality that would end up with a job at the type of school that's partial to kids of administrators getting to play... simply for being an administrator's kid. In fact, it would likely come up during an interview that I'd play kids based on their ability to help the team win games. Assuming that they all adhered to the team standards. Like being present.. on time.. studious.. you know. The things that some might ignore. Anyway.. that would probably take me out of the ring.

In regards to the hill and 6a it all depends on the numbers. King, NS, Atascocita, and SC will all be at or above 4000 students. How the uil goes about working on this issue means everything to small to midsized 6a schools. Sure there are outliers (desoto for one) just not many. 7a or a divided 6a would be interesting. Numbers do matter

Yep. Been to state tourney a few times. This score was not about how good Brookeland is but how bad Goodrich is. Just don't understand why there was no running clock. That's on Goodrich. I also think it's time for Lester King to hang it up.

5-5 is more like it with BH replacing GCM in 23-6A after next school year IF BH chooses their out-of-District opponents better than they did this last season. They’ll get blown out by North Shore, Atascocita, Summer Creek, lose to Kingwood and CE King, and win against Humble and Channelview plus 3 tomato cans in Out of District and that gets them to 5-5 6th in District year after year after year but no better than that. Lot of folks with locs on those Eastside teams really looking forward to playing Barbers Hill. Coach Abseck might not be able to see it right now but in the long run Supt. Poole may have done him a favor.

You overestimate how much anyone thinks about BH, for good or bad.

BH wouldn't be a good job right now. I know they'll be able to throw some money at whoever, and have nice facilities. But.. the helicopter parents situation will be a fraction of the problem that going 6A is going to be. Coaches that are used to winning a lot of games and making deep runs aren't going to be happy with going 3-7 and missing the playoffs. Which is about what I predict when BH starts playing with Northshore and friends.

Like all such cases, the Facebook comments are entertaining. I like the comments (so many) where people are demanding answers, we need to be made aware of the circumstances, the police won’t tell us why, this needs to be looked into further, they haven’t said why so something is being covered up, there’s more to the story, etc. No, you don’t need to know what happened. The police probably aren’t going to tell you why and if they do eventually after an arrest, they aren’t likely to give details. It’s on a need to know basis and you don’t need to know. There is always more to the story because neither the police nor the DA typically release such information. The police and DA nightmare is when a justice of the peace releases the information which is legal but can sometimes hamper the investigation.

I dont understand why you have to pay a guy 200 G's to take this job. Is there no one in this area that would take it for 150?? Codutti, Berneathy, Flynn, Gaston, Gotte, none of them are even considered or given a chance to be considered.

Jumping from class 5A to 6A is huge. Jumping from BH football district to NS football district is Mt. Everest. BH has a good Sophomore and 8th grade class which will help.

In all honesty, Nederland had no business losing this game. Lead all the way until the last minute of the game. Nederland turned it over 6 times in the last 2 minutes of the game. Four of those were unforced.

No way BH ever competes for 4th place in 23-6A football. King and Kingwood compete for 4th in that District. Kingwood was 4th in District last year and ranked 84th statewide. King was 5th in District and ranked 127th. BH is ranked 188th. You’re right about the other sports and right again about GCM, but you know same as I do that football matters most to folks on The Hill.

This was first time in school history for Onalaska to beat Crockett in varsity boys basketball.

Probably, but almost all of the other sports they’ll still make the playoffs and win district in some. Still be beating schools in that district in UIL academic competitions, etc. Football will be a little rough, but BH is a lot better then GCM, might even compete for fourth place with CEK.

Me too. He did. I already miss Abseck. He was not perfect by any means (who is?) but he definitely had it going the right direction. Had he had anywhere near a full team not decimated by injuries he would likely gone farther than he did. Still beat TW's record though. BH never missed the playoffs. Abseck will find a great landing spot, he should be one of the most desirable candidates available statewide. Meanwhile, the BH Admin needs to make a great hire soon. If it does not go well it will glare back at them. Big time.

I appreciate your interest. Similar to the others I've attended not many people were there last night. Including myself because life happens. For us it was just one day that didn't go as planned. For the student athletes graduating this spring its too late for their Willie Ray Smith awards and division 1 scholarship offers. But for the future... it looks brighter 🕶 🧢
