  1. They may have been, but png doesn't have the same team they had last year either...they were much stronger on the back end of their D last season than they appear to be this year and from what I see, png had better team speed last year...png and Texas High does make for an interesting matchup as png does have size and can match up in the trenches..I just don't think they will be able to contain the skill players for TH, but that's why they play the games

  2. I agree with you on this. SOC scares me more than TH.

  3. Beating Hallsville and Kaufman didn’t take that Mid County Madness sting away, did it? Our district had 4 GOOD teams, but not a GREAT team in my opinion. This PN-G team is not the caliber of the previous two versions, again just my opinion. The 3 teams that PN-G barely beat or lost to in district have been thoroughly beaten by better teams in the playoffs. Texas High is really good. You will soon see that.

  4. Hell he did that against Warren earlier this season.

  5. Yes if they can beat THigh I’ll have them penciled in to make it to state and beating SOC along the way.

  6. Made a whole post about respecting Woodville recently. Last season.

  7. You are correct, this isn't last year or the year before. Both of those seasons everyone loved the more talented team and those teams loss. Same will happen this game. WHEN we beat TH, I'm more concerned with a SOC team, because of a running QB. You Ned boys stay home and watch PNG on YouTube. You all should be accustomed to that over the last serval years. LMAO!!

    Livingston Open

Never will be a fan of running from competition. But, back to Livingston...... They have good groups coming. And, they can compete with the right leadership. That leadership does NOT have to include the slot-t. Orangefield proved this year that with good coaching a team can run ANY offense and be successful. Culture is MUCH more important than scheme in Livingston.

  10. This isn't last year ...And this isn't the same Injun team imo.....Both teams are good in the trenches, just not a good matchup at the skilled positions . TH can sling it, and run the football.

  12. We need to watch film of the Hitchcock game, HF game and WOS game. We need to see how we match up with them and work on our strengths and correct our weakness. La Vaga will be bringing the same type of team. Thing is, in those games Silsbee was beat up, banged up and slowed up. We've healed up a little now, 100% no, but I believe everyone is playing and that's always a plus. I think this is going to be a really good game. I'm picking Silsbee to win, because that's just the homer in me, whether it's by one point or one hundred points it doesn't matter as long as we get the W. TigerNation!!!

  13. They are very good. Really good shooting guard that's '6"3. Also have a do it all forward that's '6"5. He does everything for them. Score, rebound, defend. Maybe not as quick overall as those other teams, but I think they will at least make state semifinals.

  19. Offensive scheme does not dictate success it's the execution, attitude and effort within any systems.

  20. Anyone reasonable knows PNG has a tall task ahead of them. This isn’t 2023’s team. We still need to see the defense gel into an aggressive, smart unit. But, and perhaps more importantly, this isn’t the 2021 team. In 2021 we weren’t at nearly the conditioning and coaching level we’re at now. Texas High beat us because we couldn’t keep up physically. Granted, Texas High has improved from 2021, and we’re rightly considered the underdogs. We can play with these guys. We just have to execute.

  23. After that work you put in, we don’t care. BH made the playoffs before any Baytown kids came around in all sports. Anyways, think this thread has went long enough off course.

    Trump Wins

  25. So should a "middle of the road" 3A enrollment school be deeper than 6-7 on the basketball team? Are there several 3A schools that go deeper than 8? Kountze is plenty deep to win at the 3A level and that's all that really matters. Be the best in 3A. All this other stuff is just window dressing. I always find it funny when fans critique a small school double digit win over a larger school. It's like it's never good enough. You know, it wasn't too long ago that Kountze wasn't good in basketball. Kountze is most definitely back from those seasons and that makes basketball in our area so much better. So let's not get too ahead of ourselves when it comes to these games against larger opponents.

  27. That’s a heck of a take there. If you could just remove Kountze’s top 6-7 players, you got them.

  28. naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep. today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday. "put my son back in jub, put my son back in" and then crying on every little touch of someone. lets ball out today ktz!

  29. Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level. We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.

  30. I can guarantee that if what you’re saying about Baytown kids coming here for sports is true, they aren’t moving into Riceland. Go look at the price of those homes.

  35. You’re using old data. Also, use the data from the actual source—TEA. As of 21/22 (latest because of lawsuits), BHISD & DPISD are both ‘A’ rated. GCCISD & LPISD are both ‘B’ rated. But, both have a higher 4 year graduation rate than Deer Park ISD at 94 & 93% compared to 90%. (How the ratings system works in light of that is interesting in itself.) LPISD’s rating also factors in DeWalt. DeWalt is the school for special needs. Not aware of either of the other districts having a designated school for special needs. But, I may be wrong. Yes. Demographics make a big difference. DPISD & BHISD are very similar. Won’t get into the details. People can figure that out on their own. GCCISD & LPISD are similar. LPISD teachers have a longer tenure rate than the other districts, and a lower teacher to student ratio. Makes sense being a smaller district. None of this affects transfers for athletic purposes. But, it does have an impact on where a parent may want their child to attend school. Meanwhile, I need to start a thread on LP/AMC. All the computers & experts have AMC taking the win. Looking at some of the stats I can find—and video—I’m not sold it’s going to be as easy a game as people think for AMC.

  36. I wish PAISD would pay a firm to see how many transfers leave etc. This thread is rich with information and it's denial lol........ Goslin, you are the poster of the year

  37. According to Texas Tribune, Gccisd, Laporte and deer park are all rated B. Barbers Hill is an A. GC has a higher 4 year graduation rate than LP or DP. BH is far and away the best district on this side of town. GC has a much higher percentage economically disadvantaged at 71.7% with LP being next closest at 52%. Surprised that GC is performing so well considering. All of the players that would likely make a great football team are out by GCM and Sterling. If GCM had Lee's coach and dropped back down into 5A division 1, they would be able to compete very well against BH and LP. I don't know what their problem is with getting the athletes to gel into an actual team. Lee still beat them both this year and was sort of a down year by Lee's standards. Lot of injuries some kids moved out of district and they are paper thin as it is.

  38. Been around a few years. I’ve always heard that BH was very good academically. Honestly, sports wasn’t really brought up as a first evaluation criteria. If I was a parent in a large metro area (and Baytown is pretty good size), I’d be looking to send my kids to a surrounding district as well just due to the academics alone. The last ‘report card’ I saw didn’t reflect that well on GCCISD in general compared to neighboring districts other than GPISD. BHISD, DPISD, and LPISD were all rated much higher.

  39. Bellville did not return their entire Oline. Just three starters. Also, Bellville only returned 3 on defense from last year. Lost 8 starters. La Vega is much faster overall teamwise than Bellville. Teams with very good speed on both sides of the ball has been problematic for Silsbee this year.

  41. I think this will be a tough game for us. Our defensive front 7 will need to get some pressure on their QB to help our porous DB’s.

I think we have come a long way from Biblical death penalties to where we are now. In the days of Jesus, one could still be stoned to death for prostitution, blasphemy, or even thievery. Not so long ago in our country, a man could get the death sentence for being a horse thief. Nowadays, they bond out to steal again. Don’t forget Salem witch trials. Back then you only had to be accused of being a witch. To take the life of innocent children or to bludgeon an innocent woman beyond recognition just to do it, is a mindset that cannot be rehabilitated and they should suffer the same fate. These are my interpretations and can be debatable. It doesn’t make me wrong. The Bible spoke for and against the death penalty and I believe it’s about the punishment fitting the crime, as I mentioned above. It’s why Jesus tried to save the prostitute because what she had done didn’t deserve the death penalty. I don’t claim to be perfect but to me, Ibarra and Smith don’t deserve to breathe another breath of life for what they did. God, and only God, should judge me.
