TIME TO FLIP THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
AggiesAreWe and 3 others reacted to AshlyHasBeen for a topic
NRG Stadium has all of that. Five football dressing rooms and plenty of seating. Dallas fans did not travel last time to Houston and there were some new schools involved as well. I personally can't stand the seating at AT&T. Things are very disconnected compared to walking around a concourse that circles the main seating bowl like many stadiums. Not to mention the giant screen is so distracting to the point that it's hard not to watch the game the entire time on it. It's definitely got the "wow factor" when walking in, but I'm there to watch a game. I've heard the stories of how NRG wasn't accommodating, but as someone that has covered multiple state championships in Arlington and traveled to them as a fan, it would be nice to catch games closer to home. It would also be nice to see the Dallas teams not playing in their own backyard year after year.4 points -

I probably would not have chosen Gaetz as AG just because of the optics of it all. That being said, I don’t think he’s been proven guilty of anything. I hope he does a good job.2 points -

My suspicion is that they may be equal in talent at skill positions but will not execute like HF. I imagine HF will have a great advantage at the LOS.2 points

The main issue with Matt Gaetz is that he used his office to prosecute his political opponents and authorized federal agents to harass parents who were peacefully protesting at school board meetings. Oh wait -- that's actually Merrick Garland, the current attorney general!2 points

I actually agree with a lot of this. I have no issue with Bible classes being an elective, and I think the argument that kids who choose not to take it will be ostracized is over the top. An elective allows those who want it to take it, and for those who are interested have an opportunity to learn about it. For me the issue occurs when those who are not interested are subjected to forced prayer and mandatory Bible classes. As you said, that’s not how Christianity works. Nobody should be told they can’t pray, and nobody should be told they have to.1 point

Will be interesting to see how much of the campaign was “all talk” vs. actually following through with putting policies in place. If they go through with half the crazy stuff they’re talking about, most of the country will be in worse off shape than before. For example - assume border is 100% closed tomorrow, how exactly do we benefit from deporting illegals already here? Costs billions to do so, corporate profits will take massive hits, food prices will soar, inflation picks back up as wages increase to backfill jobs, big hit to economy and GDP (illegals buy stuff, too). Crabs in a bucket1 point

Agree, and I'll be more clear about who specifically my posts are aimed at, I'll admit I sometimes sort of broadcast rant. I'll also agree that you can't legislate morality, never works. Government shouldn't pick winners and losers, even in Religion, and this comes from a guy that thinks a Bible anywhere would be a good thing.1 point
-
Funny how a SC mandate taking prayer out of schools didn’t make people hate Kennedy. Had he not been assassinated, I believe he would have been re-elected. To date, I feel that was the beginning of decay to the moral fabric of this great country. Personally, I don’t think the Bible should be “forced” on anyone. It’s not how Christians operate. We dang sure don’t want morality to enter into people’s lives (sarcasm).I think Bible classes as an elective would do well. We had Bible class when I was in HS and prayer had been mandated out of school 6 years prior. Is American history taught in schools anymore? The Bible is surely a part of history and certainly a part of American history. These are my opinions and I am sure they will be challenged, not concurred1 point

Somehow i think you'll continue to voice your opinion, I certainly enjoy the spirited banter, kinda nice to debate without being called a red hatted fool. As far as the cakewalk and cheeks clapped, I'll give you one guess on that one. I still think that Trump, as flawed as a person as he is, as were many Presidents, is giving folks hope that things will return to what the were before Biden / Harris, and you know I am in no way a Trump fan, as far as the man goes. This was no doubt a referendum on the left, without a doubt, but folks were also voting for the guy to return to the era of energy independence, much more secure border, lower crime and cheaper day to day expenses.1 point

Yes, I do think Trump won because of morals and integrity. You seem to think it simply boils down to one man, it does not. Folks are looking for someone that is proud of the country and doesn't put other nations first. They want a candidate that will not support abortion even up until delivery. They are looking for someone that puts citizens ahead of illegal immigrant, someone that doesn't want to abolish the police, someone that wants to bring manufacturing back to the US and is willing to use tariffs to make it happen. Obviously they were able to look past some rude and crude to bring that guy in. Trump is no saint, that's for sure, but he's behind policies that speak of integrity and pride in Americans. Funny that not long ago there were so many giving out advice how the Republican had picked a loser that any other candidate could win handily. I remember hearing terms like cakewalk and getting his cheeks clapped. Turns out none of that was true and he won a landslide victory. Now those same folks want to lecture us on how to act or we'll lose big time next election. No thanks.1 point

Vidor vs Kilgore
bullets13 reacted to Matt Dillon for a topic
Lot of truth I think in this statement. Most offenses that have studs are gonna be difficult to stop no matter what their schemes are. The slot T, I believe, does have certain keys that can be read. However, if they waggle out of it, that can make it much tougher, I’m guessing. Defensively, teams that have poor eye discipline (looking in backfield instead of reading keys) and run fits, are probably gonna be exposed somewhat, even with good athletes. Well disciplined defensive teams could make it a struggle offensively if ability levels are somewhat equal1 point -
I also believe Glen Rose wasn’t healthy for that game vs Robinson… had some guys out. Also I wanna add that Robinson only beating Caldwell by 11 sticks out like a sore thumb… like idk how that happened lol1 point

HF is favored to make it to the Regional Finals. Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but they're a favorite against everyone until then, and they're as good as any team in this region until proven otherwise. They absolutely crushed jasper and silsbee, and WOS only did marginally better with the help of a wet field slowing down the HF offense. The horns would much rather catch WOS for a second time on a dry field than have to deal with Bellville or La Vega, so hopefully y'all help us out with that.1 point

Fairfield vs Orangefield @ splendora
TrojanWarrior08 reacted to Bobcat101 for a topic
Fairfield DL looked bigger than Orangefields. We do have a big big OL guard but everyone else is low 200’s. Because of Fairfield DL, I expect our RB will hit the open gaps hard & fast & I don’t know a LB that can catch him. I did see Fairfield vs Crocket game & I wasn’t overwhelmingly impressed. Crocket had a lot of dropped passes. I think we can score 3 or 4 TD by half.1 point -
CS was driving to win the game in the last three minutes of the game. Unfortunately CS RB come out of the game & Orangefield held on. PS, I never really founded out what happened to him. I know he took some hard hit by our DE & Middle LB. Teams have to respect Orangefield running game with their RB, if the LB come in to fill the gap, the QB will keep it or hit them slants & can throw them deep. I’m hopeful Orangefield can make it to the regional finals this year. That would be a super high bar to set. Most of the skilled players are juniors and the QB is a sophomore. it starts this Friday.1 point

You have spoken like a true Dallas Cowboys Fan with blinders on for anyone with an opposing opinion. Continue to happily swim through your own opinion, as noone else's opinion matters, as far as your concerned. I agree that the UIL will not pull the games away from AT&T. Of course we all know what great decisions the UIL makes. It is why my high school team, that is located in Southeast Texas, near the border of Louisiana, plays in the North Texas Region. Brilliant reasoning, and even more brilliant lack of caring for our fans to have to have excessive travel not only to just district games, much less, the state championship. God Bless you my Friend. Keep pulling for your team with gusto! I will keep supporting my team, and their fans, as well.1 point

Huff. Hargrave (9-1) vs. Chapel Hill (7-3)
FALCONS2026 reacted to 2wedge for a topic
Huffman has undergone a wholesale culture shift over the past year. Younger players who have won their whole life have begun winning again and have their swagger back. They have morphed into a hardnosed, tough group of ball players who have more fight in them than most outside of the walls of the field house thought was there. They will be a game opponent for CH and I truly believe this game will be closer than most will think. Huffman has a chance to win the game but must be patient, control the clock and keep the mistakes to an absolute minimum. I was not aware of the injury issues with CH, but it really shouldn't change anything for Huffman. Game plan will be the same. Heavy dose of 12, sprinkle in some 11, move the chains with 0 and explode occasionally with 4. The defense is stout will be challenged to keep the speed of CH bottled up. The coaching matchup is the most intriguing part of this matchup for me. The infamous Rio vs the new kid on the block Buchta. Coach Buchta has shouldered a ton of criticism over the past two seasons, some admittedly from me, but has silenced the doubters by adding the missing element to this program, culture. He has built culture and excitement in the program over the past year and this week's game might just be his introduction to the rest of the state. The community has returned to Falcon Stadium each week and is packing the house in support of this team. The biggest edge Huffman will have on Friday night is this game being played in Huffman. This is a HUGE deal for a first-round matchup against a team with the pedigree of CH and just might be the thing that gives Huffman the ability to get over the hump. I am extremely excited about this matchup and feel confident in saying it is a must-see game for all Falcon fans, and TXHSFB fans in general.1 point -
