  3. This will be our official realignment thread. Post all the realignment talk here. At 9am the UIL will release the classifications, divisions and districts. Post all this info here. Here is the UIL Realignment link: [Hidden Content] After the districts are revealed, we will post what districts we will be covering here on the site for the next two years.

  4. Very very few. Usually it's just one school that appeals their district alignment. In this case, the whole district should appeal it's regional alignment.

  5. I wonder if the schools in the district will appeal. They do have a window to appeal to UIL. I agree, this seems egregious.

  6. even if someone is not a conspiracy theory type, things like waco/Killeen swapping with PNG/NED will damn near cause a person to.

  9. This district makes absolutely no sense Crosby and Angleton should have been switched but the UIL is dumb. Crosby Fort Bend Kempner Friendswood Houston Spring Woods Humble Kingwood Park La Porte New Caney Porter Pasadena

  11. Just weird BH and Crosby spilting tbh … it’s like Nederland and PNG being in different districts imo

  16. Nederland has some BEAST's on defense in the 4 years I coached against them. Big, strong, fast and PHYSICAL. They would knock you in the dirt and tell you about it.

  17. District 10 (Waco/Killeen) is Region 3. And District 8 (PNG/NED, etc) go Region 2. How does that make sense?

  18. I think Neumann started in 1993. In his first seven years, he was 4-3 vs PNG, and it only got worse for PNG from there.

  19. Chester and Apple Springs should make it......almost the old 1980s district again.....lol

  21. Ok . Remove Westbrook and add Galveston Ball 😎 Beaumont has to be Pumped though to be in this district. For BH I just hate to be in a weak district then a weak round 1 match the get clobbered in round 2! Basketball should be crazy , but outside of that it’s downhill

  22. a few years back when they put us(Jasper) in Reg 2 I thought that was the dumbest thing the uil could do. low and behold was I wrong! Location could be more justified than PNG/NED. GOD himself can't ever make that make any sense to me! SMH

  23. If you knew where the overall program was at under the Neumann era and where the current state it is in you wouldn’t be asking this question…

  24. I'll start another thread for it. But please make sure these are confirmed opponents.

  26. Until recently, all golden triangle schools have been in region 3 since the 70's until recently beginning with Westbrook

  27. HJ vs Huffman will be interesting. HJ played them close in the first matchup and seems to be playing much better the last few games. Wouldn't be shocked if HJ wins.

Well, today I guess we get to find out who we're going 2-8 against next season? Have new QB transferring in which fits more along the lines of what Willis wants to run but as far as talent retention the wheels continue to come off. The Austin Walter-like stud freshman running back transferred out a few weeks ago and we may be losing the Craig Williams clone out of the same class. Going to be a depressing journey until we can get a coach who can pump some life back into the program.

  33. I expect PAM to have a better game. Got to be feeling confident with the win at BH. If I wasn't going to San Augustine, I probably would be in PA. But I really want to see SA.

  36. I miss those years where it was HJ/Silsbee fighting it out for district every year and then competing to make it to state. HJ has obviously dropped off some in the last 10 years or so, and Silsbee has gotten even better, but the whole landscape of 4A basketball is skewed due to all the houston teams in our region, combined with having to face the dallas teams if you make it to state.

  37. I like PNG’s non district schedule the last few years. - 1 decently easy win. You can get some different kids in and try some new things. - 1 team that’s pretty equal. You have to play a complete game to win. -1 team that’s better than you. You can learn a lot about your team from all 3 of those type games. I’m not a fan of scheduling 0-3 and getting beat up before district. Monte still may have a job if he didn’t schedule 0-3 starts the last few years. Also with the out of town districts, I doubt coaches will be looking to travel much for non district games. We’ve had enough early releases from school the last few years…..

  40. The list of things that can change between JH and HS is vast. It's more likely than not that JH success won't be the same in HS. 1st and foremost.. 7th grade kids playing against everyone else's 7th grade kids and 8th grade kids playing against everyone else's 8th grade kids is not evenly remotely the same as 9-12th against 9-12th. A grade level of kids playing with either the grade above them or below them.. or both can dramatically change the success/failure compared to when it was just them. Not only do kids mature, gain strength, gain speed, gain size, and gain skill (both physically and mentally) at completely different levels and pace individually, but kids actually WORK and/or gain/lose interest completely different. Forget about the other obvious variables.. like: academic eligibility, transferring (both losing and gaining kids), quitting, reclassification, coaching change, etc. etc. etc. The situation for a Senior IS NOT THE SAME as that same kid's situation was when they were a 7th grader. To think so is idiotic. It's truly funny to me to hear people make predictions based on what happened in JH... might as well add little league as a predictor lol.

  42. Not to be a negative Nancy, but having some good groups come through in JH usually doesn't translate to HS success. Back when I was in JH school, we destroyed everyone, went undefeated and were "district champs". Senior year in HS we went 5-5 and our coach got canned at the end of the year. 🤷‍♂️

  43. It is also nice to have multiple athletes 6'-3"+, 280+ to shore up the trenches..... I haven't seen many of those walking around NHS

  44. Right - this is something I think needs to be underlined. Joseph inherited a healthy program with kids who had won several key games and had had a deep-ish playoff run. He didn’t have to “rebuild” so much as “redirect.” It sounds like Nederland will need to do something closer to a true rebuild. That’s going to be key in how people evaluate the new guy. If the standard is “do exactly what png did and go straight to state,” that’s probably not going to work, because Faircloth left PNG in a state that is ahead of schedule relative to where Nederland is. But, I don’t think we’re talking a several year rebuild. I think Nederland just needs to get kids back , get more kids in, hit the weight room better and structure themselves to go toe-to-toe with the power and conditioning of elite programs. They aren’t far off - If Nederland had 1% improvements across every category of improvement, they become an entirely different team. A lot of Nedeand’s woes amount to just being left behind, not so much getting worse . The last two years, Barrow would probably have gone at least 1-1 against PNG if Faircloth had stayed the coach, because Faircloth built his teams the way Barrow does - Poor conditioning, low strength training, no attention to defense, and just hope you win by two points in a shootout. Joseph doesn’t do that, and he showed that there‘a a recipe for the mid county schools to compete at the highest level. Nederland can do it too, but given the current state of the program it might take a year or two to really see the results. But it could also be immediate, as we’ve seen.

  45. Things at PNG wasn't as bad as they were towards the end at Nederland. PNG probably had the good players from the halls that were already playing when the new coach got there. Kids quit and never came out because how bad Nederland had become. Get the right coach and start winning and you'll see how many kids you'll have available.

  46. Whoever takes the Nederland will be setting their own ways and culture that’s what happens when a Head Coach takes over… PNG in 2008 2-7 Faircloth comes in set his culture rebuild in year 1 in 2009 11-1… Peevey at LCM year before he got there 1-7 when Peevey arrived 11-3… there’s a lot of talent walking them halls and lot of kids specializing in only 1 sport, gotta get those kids back into the program and play multiple sports. Coaching staff got very stale and ran its course. Gotta stop the family and friends and hiring and start the hiring best qualified coach which I’m hoping NISD has learned its lesson on that one…. Starts at the top and they are making a change a step imo in the right direction.
