  1. Let;s be realistic , no ones going to be able to win a ring at PNG.

  2. If I see smoke coming from the windows I don't have to run inside the house to tell you it's on fire. That's not how I would define good and bad reasons at all either. A "good" reason for being pushed out is poor job performance, personal conduct infractions or a rule violation like what happened to Jeff Nelson at Ozen. A "bad" reason would be because of administrative vendettas, town "politics" or the perceived notion that you should be competing at higher level when your personnel doesn't necessarily dictate that.

  4. As others have said, Peevey would appear crazy to be interested in this job. To deduce why, one would need not look further than LCM’s treatment of his predecessor (Crouch), and PNG’s treatment of his would-be predecessor, Faircloth. LCM has always paid their coaches really well (Crouch stayed one of the highest paid coaches in the area) and, maybe more importantly, the admins stay out of their way and let them do their thing.

  8. Faircloth had been an assistant at Austin Westlake and Highland Park, and an OC at Odessa Permian. He’d been a part of multiple state championships at the first two, and his offenses had shattered multiple records on deep playoff runs at Permian. That experience paid off - it’s got a lot to do with why he went 11-1 in his very first season as a head coach. Langston doesn’t have any of that background, and has a 5-5 record in his first season as a high school head coach. And if we’re going to look at the big picture, Langston may very well be a nice guy, but he’s got a history of NCAA violations that cost him his college career.

  11. Yes, BF wanted to run a passing offense and did not have an experienced QB. He identified rising jr. B. Doty in spring practice, developed him, and won the first 11 games. PN-G was throwing into the end zone on the last play of a 21-27 loss to an absolutely loaded with talent state finalist Brenham team. Think about Crippen's experience and talent AND the experience on both sides of the ball.

No one who knows my buddy Hagar would question that!! But we both had the good fortune or marrying (and staying married to) a beauty. And that’s more impressive anyway! (At least we can tell ourselves that 🤪)

  17. Unfortunately for PNG, that seriously good class will be seniors during a new coaches transition year. Thats not to say things can't click, because they can, but typically it takes a season or two, including off seasons, for a new program to be fully installed and implemented. Hoping the best for PNG!

  20. New Waverly is solid but not very deep. Only suits out 8. Tarkington has had some good wins but some bad losses. That Hardin loss is a head scratch er. Coldspring is not what they have been the last 3 years but still can give a team fits on a given night. Trinity has been a bit of a surprise. Their losses have been expected but were in all of those games till late. I see 22-3A going 3-1 as is right now. But 22-3A still is very fluid.

  33. This is a little off topic, but I wasn't aware Lumberton ISD had appointed a search committee with community representatives on it to conduct their last head coaching search. I don't think PN-G's ever done that, and I think that's a good idea for the AD job and the superintendent's job.

  36. So they are continuing to push forward with the vaccine mandate for big businesses. They are just going through the process rather than using the Emergency clause.…. Since the emergency clause issue has not been settled in court, I think the Biden administration is putting an end to a ruling that could have any effect in the future (claimed) emergency situations. It is certainly not a philosophical change but rather a, let’s drop this now so we can live to fight another day.

    Hagar’s Ramblings

Funny how I’ll be sitting here with the TV on and sometimes an old story pops. This was back in the late 70’s. My wife was fixing supper but needed a couple of things from the store. We lived close to Woods Supermarket in Vidor so my daughter & I drove down there. As we were going down one aisle, there was another father/daughter close to us. Based on their conversation, mother was absent (sick? Trip?). The daughter appeared to be about 13 or 14, and father was about 6’6” and 280 pounds. She said, “Here’s cereal Dad, I could make you cereal for breakfast”. His first response was a deep, slow laugh, and he said in a deep slow voice, “Honey, I couldn’t make it out to the truck in the morning on a bowl of cereal”. We held our laughter until we got over an aisle, but I felt I’d just witnessed a priceless memory for them.
