If I see smoke coming from the windows I don't have to run inside the house to tell you it's on fire. That's not how I would define good and bad reasons at all either. A "good" reason for being pushed out is poor job performance, personal conduct infractions or a rule violation like what happened to Jeff Nelson at Ozen. A "bad" reason would be because of administrative vendettas, town "politics" or the perceived notion that you should be competing at higher level when your personnel doesn't necessarily dictate that.

As others have said, Peevey would appear crazy to be interested in this job. To deduce why, one would need not look further than LCM’s treatment of his predecessor (Crouch), and PNG’s treatment of his would-be predecessor, Faircloth. LCM has always paid their coaches really well (Crouch stayed one of the highest paid coaches in the area) and, maybe more importantly, the admins stay out of their way and let them do their thing.

The last PNG head coach went 10-0 his first season on the Rez… with a less talented class than the current one they are about to have.

Faircloth had been an assistant at Austin Westlake and Highland Park, and an OC at Odessa Permian. He’d been a part of multiple state championships at the first two, and his offenses had shattered multiple records on deep playoff runs at Permian. That experience paid off - it’s got a lot to do with why he went 11-1 in his very first season as a head coach. Langston doesn’t have any of that background, and has a 5-5 record in his first season as a high school head coach. And if we’re going to look at the big picture, Langston may very well be a nice guy, but he’s got a history of NCAA violations that cost him his college career.

Unfortunately for PNG, that seriously good class will be seniors during a new coaches transition year. Thats not to say things can't click, because they can, but typically it takes a season or two, including off seasons, for a new program to be fully installed and implemented. Hoping the best for PNG!

To answer your question, no, I don’t think Peevey’s departure from West Brook had anything to do with lacking talent coming up through the ranks. There’s plenty of talent and athleticism in the Beaumont schools. I think it had a lot more to do with the fact that Peevey was one of the lowest paid head coaches in 6A, and LC-M offered both more money and the AD title he didn’t have in BISD. Plus, LC-M was the right opening at the right time; as has been mentioned several times over, his wife is an LC-M grad, and Peevey’s an Orange County boy.

If they are staying in 5A its going to be tough for them. They will need an up and coming high energy coach and tons and tons of patience. That is a fine school and community down there. I wish them all the best.

No. I think 10 of my coworkers have shot and killed people and one of them twice about 20 years apart. I witnessed one. But…. they were officers, not a 17 years old, accepted the fact that the day might come and none were national news. American police have probably killed hundreds of people and inside of cars yet there is no notoriety to any to any of the vehicles and the actual vehicle would be meaningless…. unless it was being driven by Clyde Barrow with Bonnie Parker in it.

He was fired, or resigned from Shelbyville back in 2016 or 2017, for domestic violence. It was a pretty bad case too (not that any case is good). But like I said a few days ago, not sure what ever happened with that case. Apparently he’s coaching at Carlisle, so maybe charges were dismissed or reduced. The guy is a heckuva coach though.

Burned Out, how? Start playing tournaments at 6 years old. At 7 play 4 weekends a month. at 8 start a throwing program with weighted balls at a local facility. play 7 days a week 365 days a year till 8th grade. then as a freshman they dont make varsity so mom and dad go ballistic cause little johnny has been taking pitching lessons since he was 4 and is a D1 candidate since he was 8. Now being completely focused to make varsity you increase the throwing program to 2 times a day. Then OMG an arm injury and now Tommy John surgery.

Peevey took West Brook to the 6A D2 state title game, in 2018, and lost to Longview 35-34. He can coach.

This is a little off topic, but I wasn't aware Lumberton ISD had appointed a search committee with community representatives on it to conduct their last head coaching search. I don't think PN-G's ever done that, and I think that's a good idea for the AD job and the superintendent's job.

So they are continuing to push forward with the vaccine mandate for big businesses. They are just going through the process rather than using the Emergency clause.…. Since the emergency clause issue has not been settled in court, I think the Biden administration is putting an end to a ruling that could have any effect in the future (claimed) emergency situations. It is certainly not a philosophical change but rather a, let’s drop this now so we can live to fight another day.
