At the time Toby had no HC experience and Thompson had been the backbone of the program for decades. The right (and only) choice at the time was Thompson. Now Foreman has the experience. Its his time.3 points

I’ve enjoyed watching these games the last few days. The best part is the respect I’ve seen on the field. I’ve watched 6 of the games and haven’t seen an unsportsmanlike penalty, or even any pushing and shoving. With our country being as divided as it is right now, a lot could be learned from Texas HS football. There are teams with kids of all colors playing together as brothers. There have been games with teams of almost all white kids playing against teams made up of entirely black kids. These young men are helping each other up, patting helmets to congratulate good plays, consoling each other in defeat, and overall just showing a level of respect that is sorely lacking in our society today.3 points -
I get that Kimball only lost by 2 to Duncanville and beat Faith Family, and has played an insane schedule, but there’s no way they should be ranked #1 over BU at 4-4. BU now has wins against the #5 and #6 teams in 6A, a 35-pt win over the #1 3A team (who’s really a 5A team), and two wins against 4A #2 Silsbee (including a 30-point win).3 points

Yep to a team that forced them to throw. I like what LH does. The run the slot t the best but at some point you have to throw the ball. SOC was more athletic and deserved to win.2 points

HJ led by 5 at the end of the 1st. They went up by 7 at the half but came out cold to start the 3rd and HF went on a 10-2 run . Foul trouble to Brown hurt the Hawks late in the first half . Davis hit two deep 3’s and a little floater he was fouled on to put the Hawks back up by 9. Sears sure looked like the best player on the floor tonight. I was also impressed with #3 for the Hawks tonight. He scored some big buckets in the first half and played super defensively. For the Horns I believe it was #2 who was strong on the defensive end and #5 was solid as well. #23 played big in spurts and has the tools. Good win for the Hawks2 points

I will. It's funny they have no idea what goes on. Or have they ever played there.outsiders with an opinion that's all. I just wish CT could've gave us 2 more yrs to transition to a new coach.i think that way the younger generation coming up would be somewhat use to a new system.1 point
-
Whatever happens they need to keep the system in place. Over the years my buddy Mavis (RIP my friend) was involved with the youth programs and he would always keep me informed of the upcoming teams and players to watch for. He'd say watch out we got one coming and I would say how old is he? Mave told me oh, he's in the fifth grade. Sure enough there he came or there came those teams. These kids are evidently groomed early to be Mustangs. I'm confident the new HC will be another good one.1 point

Looking at this break down I wouldn’t be able to tell who won the game?? Sears did a masterful job of breaking the defense down and dishing the ball where it needed to go. He could penetrate the defense at will and did when he needed to. HF doesn’t have the go to guy that steps up and demands the basketball with the game on the line. #2 was the closest player I saw to anyone doing this. Everyone has a different opinion I guess but I personally would have put #5 on the block and pounded the basketball in to him. I don’t the kids name but #3 from HJ was the most impressive defender I saw last night. Early foul trouble on Brown kept him on the bench for extended periods of time and kept the game closer than it would have been otherwise.1 point

Race gets political points and gets clicks in the media. In this case the race of neither the police officer nor the victims is relevant to anything. It is a fact of whatever race they were but it is not relevant to the incident.1 point

WO-S will rue the day if they don’t hire Toby for this job. This isn’t something that should be thought long and hard about. For years in Orange county we have wanted our student athletes to get to the next level is with the help of their athletic directors and Toby, and now Peevy at LCM, provide two people who do this at a high level. The community wants and needs Toby. I hope that the school board feels the same.1 point -

Who do you suggest they play instead? Keep in mind these other teams you want them to play may already have games those days and can’t just drop their game because you want these coaches to play a tougher schedule. Or maybe they should load the bus up and go to Houston every Tuesday and Friday. Both of those coaches play over 30 games a season and we single 3 of those games out to say they aren’t being properly prepared for a state champion. I know math is hard for some people but that’s only 10 percent of the schedule. I think that using 10 percent of your games to build some confidence for your team and get some live minutes for your bench is just as important as playing close games. I want to tell myself you’re just a typical delusional setx sports fan, but since you took shots at both English and Smith in the same post I’m assuming you had some kids that didn’t get as much playing time as you would have liked at Nederland.1 point -

@Cardinal 1 it was a great game and I’m not sure who’s HF’s best player is. Watching you guys against Nederland and now HJ, I think #2 and #23 are two of the top but tonight I thought #2 was the best player for HF. I noticed #23 didn’t seem to touch the ball much in the last 5 minutes. Also didn’t think he helped himself out on the defensive end by defending, seems like he just wants to play offense. #2 played both sides of the ball. So when looking at the game we must remember to be the best player you have to play both defense and offense. Again both teams looked good but HJ handled the 4th quarter when they needed. My two cents, I’m a basketball connoisseur and old retired basketball coach, not as good as the two I saw coach tonight.1 point -

Just watched my oldest G’daughter walk across the stage with her Masters Degree. Not a bad legacy for someone who had to brownose his HS English teacher 🥴. Proud of her. Wasn’t a gift. She worked full time while getting this. At my age and health, not many special days left but wanted to share this one with y’all. Got my oldest G’son coming home on leave from the Marines tomorrow. Be glad to see him. Setting up to be a good Christmas.1 point

10 hours and 3 pages later, I'm late to the show. First and foremost, on behalf of Mustang fans everywhere. I'd like to thank Coach Thompson for everything he has done for our school and students throughout his career. He's one of a kind, a classic that cant be duplicated. Even drives the same old blue truck. Which reminds me of the first time I met him. After the 86 championship game, there was a crowd of people waiting for the team to arrive behind the school. He was the first one off the bus, but only to tell people to get out the back of old blue. I've been biting my tongue after hearing this for the past 3 seasons. His son has been telling people not to keep their kids at WOS cuz T wouldn't be there much longer. He missed the 1st game against Nederland, and we all know how that turned out. The petition, started by my classmate, who by the way had no bad words about Hooks or T while he was playing. Then the whole Zig ordeal. Oh and did anyone mention, no more Chain Gang. That's like telling PNG no more Indians. Or like telling some of these other schools, "I need more cowbell". Most of us saw what was coming from a mile away. I've been hoping for the best. But when Gales went down, so did alot of hopes and dreams. Now as for the next coach. There should be applicants from all over the state and possibly the nation. Peevey saw what was coming and went north just in time to take advantage of the upcoming power vacuum. I even think BC sought out a championship caliber coach hoping to catch some future fallout. But if there is already someone currently on staff picked as a replacement. I can only think of one or two that would be deemed acceptable in this new state of our program. And no, neither of them are coordinators. My preference is to continue the traditions set by almost 40 years of dominance. This would mean having a coach familiar with the community and the system. Making Toby the obvious choice. That is if he even wants the job and has the qualifications (masters degree for AD.) Dont forget all the alumni that could come with Toby. Names like Locks and Gans. Maybe even an Anderson, Thomas, or Bevil. He could put together a dream team style coaching staff. But as some have said here before, they feel its time for black coach. Race, religion, or sexual orientation should in no way have any bearing on the upcoming hiring process. Best candidate for the position period!!! Now for the community. And by saying that, I mean those of us that still live in the district, pay taxes, and actually get out and vote. Let us not bow to the opinions of those who have left our area. We voted for a bond to build new schools some years ago, and upgraded sports facilities more recently. All of which bear the names of WOS coaching legends. Breedlove field @ Hooks stadium, with Thompson's name on the indoor training facility. We are the Mustangs. Always have been and always will be. The day I wear green and gold on friday is the day I delete my account and ride off into the sunset. "Mustang Nation" is everywhere. From Orange to Ohio, from Cove to Cowboy Church. And all parts in between. I've been 1000 miles from home and ran into people from Texas that never heard of Orange, but knew about WOS Football. I've also been at Chilis watching the Seahawks and told some hurricane chasers about Earl Thomas as a RB. No matter how we want the program to move forward, it will. It's not a decision that will be made by social media analysts such as myself. It will be made by those voted into power, the school board. Not a decision that can be easily made. And if it doesn't work out, there may be more names on the ballot next year.1 point
