  1. Might depend on Coach’s, and the teams, past record, and his pay. Westerberg, at Barbers Hill was getting some bad post on here right off the bat. Now, not so much. Fans of a bad program will be more tolerant. You get named HC at WOS or Carthage, you better come out of the gate kicking booty. There’s a lot of variables.

  3. Your response might be because you follow a tradition rich school. Take a team like Huntington. Heck, a Coach that could just get a winning record for several years, could be Mayor (King) of that town. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  4. Your previous post was talking about points and offense they’ve put up. This year they are 4-4 scoring 182 points and giving up 194. Last year they were 5-3 and scored 207 and gave up 128. One of those wins was a forfeit to Sabine pass. So let’s say they were 4-3. so the points per game was higher. was the community support for day nonexistent from day one?

  6. I read an interview with Adrian Peterson... He was in Palestine right after CT left. He mentioned that CT had kinda said that kids in Palestine couldn't handle the "Mustang Way" and that had a big impact on pushing Peterson to achieve. It's tough, man... kids have to be compliant with the program and if the kids have never been compliant (and possibly have non-compliant role models around the house), it's hard to coach 'em up. But you're right... winning fixes lots of that stuff.

  8. You're probably right. But the 1/2 that stayed would end up making a helluva team. Then once the winning begins, the players will come...

  11. @NetCat @WH34I heard they were sitting the QB and all the basketball guys out. They should still be able to get the W even with sitting out most of the kids I think.

  12. For whatever it's worth, there are several middle class families that attend BU. I'd venture to say it's about even at WB. Believe it or not, many middle class families just refuse to move or live in the west end. I personally know MANY of those families personally. So I'm not buying that wealthy thing too much...

  13. What’s the average salary of a Newton household versus a Beaumont household? I know it would be convenient to try and blame β€œprivilege” again, but you’re wasting your time. It’s coaching and parenting primarily in my opinion. Definitely not a talent issue.

  14. Well, anything can happen. Jakobi Holland will be back for this game, which helps the running game. But, we've got to get Anderson more involved on the offense. The only chance Brook has is to simply outscore NS. I know, I know, it sounds crazy. But, our defense will not keep them from scoring. So, we've got to throw the whole kitchen at them, on offense, and hope we bust some big plays for scores.

  15. I see what you're saying. Ozen, Central, and United has dominated WB in basketball, but no one dismisses football. People on this side of town actually care about winning and beating them. Apparently, more emphasis is placed in football on the West End.
    2 points
  16. Maybe they’re more interested in basketball on that side of town. I don’t know for sure but I don’t think WB could compete with the Ozens and Centrals or United so it’s probably not an athleticism problem.

  17. Fine we’ll take LCM, BC and Lumberton next year. It would be nice to have some rivals that we can beat year in and year out. This will probably be our last time playing Ned in district so you can have them all to yourselves. Same goes for PNG like you said, it’s time to move on. I’ll take DC chances and playoff runs over faux rivalries anyway.

  18. Know why they call Cornell Coach T, he can defend the Slot-T, Wing-T, Power-T, Double Wing-T, Balanced - T, Unbalanced-T, Split-T, Conventional-T, and loves a good T-Bone!!

  19. If BC wins the refs will be blamed and the UIL will get phone calls. That's my prediction.

  20. Those guys had some success, how about Hentschel (RIP) at WB, he couldn't get past first round of playoffs, but did compete. Central and Ozen made the playoffs, but it's never been good enough. Folks wanted the Hebert days of winning a state championship and wasn't going to be satisfied until they got one or beat mid county teams. Let's be honest with this assessment. Houston area is where the majority of talent is at so the triangle is lucky to get 3 rounds deep now. WB caught lightning in a bottle last year, Central had a couple good runs, Ozen I think had one run. All that said, you could pick worse coaches then the list you have. You telling none of those years they were lacking on talent? Football IQ? Grades? Discipline? Negative towards program? Parents getting involved? All on the coaches?

  21. Rb's or Qb can't have a good game unless Nederland wins the line of scrimmage. That is where they are showing some improvement, but has not been a strength all in all. Vidor will make you battle for the line of scrimmage, 4 point stances and nose down, drive and dive blocking. You have to be a little nasty to play in this one, Dogs have a challenge in front of them, but have a good formula over the years for having what it takes to beat the Pirates. Should be a fun one, and guaranteed to be one last good roll in the mud with the Pirates on Jerry Mallory Field based on the forecast.

  24. Lol, see some good valid post here, pointing out many potential problems. To use a car analogy - BU is like a Dodge Viper. Car has all the power you want, but isn’t running right. Is it the plugs, timing, filers, computer, bad fuel? One thing for sure, you get a mechanic (Coach) like Durley, he’d fix all that. BUT, guys like Durley don’t come around that often. Certainly one of the best HS coaches I’ve ever seen in this area. Just hope BU can get that Viper running right.

  29. 80% of the people, that do not like Coach Faircloth, believe that defense wins championships. Even I believe that is true. However, PNG has not produced a great defense, across the board, in years. Our defense is good, not great, this year. However, our offense has struggled , at times this year, and that is supposed to be Faircloth's specialty. If we are not succeeding, as expected, in the only aspect of the game where Faircloth shines bright, then the argument is, why keep him. Another 10%, that do not like Faircloth, are the political minded fans. These fans believe, because of their own personal brilliant coaching knowledge, that Faircloth has the wrong personnel in the games, or is playing them at the wrong positions. Either way these fans are never going to be happy with just going to the playoffs. They expect multiple round deep playoff runs from the Indians every year. Oh, by the way, the other 10% do not like Coach Faircloth solely because of his overall record against Nederland. That is pretty much it, in a nutshell. At least what I have heard talking to some if the disgruntled Non-Faircloth fans. Just my observation.

  30. Some interesting statistics.... 19 - The number of playoff games PN-G has played in under Coach Faircloth 4 - The number of time PN-G has made it into the 3rd round of the playoffs under Coach Faircloth (Only two other times has this happened 1953,54,&55 / 1974,75,76,&77) 5 - The number of District Championships the Indians has taken part in. 86 - The number of wins under Coach Faircloth. (2 more wins and he will pass Coach Ethtridge for #2 all time on the Indians winningest coaches list.) 68.8% - The number of games won under Coach Faircloths program. 11 - The number of games needed to be PN-G's all time winningest coach. 3 - of the highest scoring PN-G teams in our History. ( #1. 579 points in 2017, #2. 492 in 1999, #3. 485 in 2010, #4. 479 in 2016.) 3 - The number of times Faircloths teams lost to a team that played in the State Championship game. (2009 State Finalist Brenham, 2017 State Champs College Station, 2018 State Finalist Fort Bend Marshall.) 37 - The number of All-State Players from Coach Faircloth lead teams. 1 - the number of All-Americans who played under Coach Faircloth. Just a few stats to ponder about Coach Faircloths teams. I can guarantee that many teams in our are would be glad to take these stats.

Why did you vote for Burkeville in a blowout then?

  32. Ahhhhhh, I had not heard that. Regardless, I dont think his playing would change the outcome of the game. So, probably best to just save him for the playoffs, and really utilize him for a deep playoff run.

  33. You're telling me you don't think colleges call the high school coach at all? How do you think the college gets access to the kid's film? The coach has to send it from Hudl. I'm not saying that's the only way it's done...and there are always exceptions to the rule, but 99% of the time they call the coach.

  35. I think the exact opposite. Look at the roster. There are not many juniors or sophomores on it. This is a senior laden team. We have several kids that can run the ball and Deslatte provided a need at LB. It had nothing to do with him personally. He has been hurt every year otherwise he has played so I am not sure how you can say he has been done wrong. Name me a senior riding the bench in favor of an underclassmen that isn't right. I will hang up and wait. Faircloth has brought wins and a positive influence to this community. Been in involved in a youth program like we never had before. Has produced record breaking offenses. Sent kids to school on football scholarships. Never do you hear about bad seeds getting away with crap under Faircloth. It is a clean program that wins and has good kids. Does he possibly put his better athletes on offense and hurt the defense some? Maybe but this year I would say the defense is ahead of the offense. If you don't like Faircloth it is a personal issue and not something stemming from his accomplishments and what he does for the community.

  36. At this time of year coaches are getting a pat on the back, or a kick in the butt and there is plenty of each to go around. We are at midseason, and you are putting your signature on your work every Friday night. Your work is right there on the field for the world to see. Let's take a look. Is your team walking on and off the field? Did the ball carrier have to break 6 tackles to score? Can the head cheerleader tackle better than your safety? Are you afraid to run pursuit drills because half the defense will not pursue more than 5 strides? Are the backs running like they are in a beauty contest; more concerned about being seen than punishing the tackler? Are receivers running free through the secondary? You know the answer and you can fix it. There is only a few vertebrae between a pat on the back and a kick in the butt. Both are necessary and useful. Coaches and players have backs, butts, and vertebrae.

    11 4a d1 playoffs

The LCM vs HuffMAN game could be for the DC. Ive been watching Huffman and appears they blitz every play. If LCM does not look for passing routes and run plays to force them play gap football it could cause confusion for us. Our line has not blocked well and we were having bad snaps last week. On defense I feel like we will be fine our secondary has been playing pretty well

  44. This post is completely relevant, because West Brook owned Central, Ozen, and now United. The talent level has been about the same, but the coaching seems to be the catalyst for better teams. But, when you win a state championship in your first year of existence, it sets a precedent for success.

  47. 4 of the turnovers was on special team giving PNG great field position. Dayton offense is easy to figure out. First down run the QB, 2nd down bubble screen, 3rd down everybody run down field and 4th down punt.

  48. Defense on a whole played well, but the 2 big pass plays were back breakers, and the fumble in the redzone leading to the 3rd td didn't help either. I don't care how this season turns out. I refuse to talk down on these kids or this team. 4 turnovers will kill you every time. I did like what I saw out of Milton, especially on that last drive, he threw the ball accurately and with timing. I hope they start giving him more reps.
