Houston Stafford for Baytown Livingston for San Marcos Barbers Hill (even though I liked the tournament) for College Station Holiday And an upgrade in non-district games as well Fort Bend Clements (9-25) for Langham Creek (28-8) St. Pius (3-27) for Spring Westfield (12-17) Summer Creek (33-7) 6A State Finalist was added Goose Creek Memorial (27-9) was added Silsbee (24-7) was dropped even though I thought we could have kept them on the schedule Still no HJ, I would love to see that game This team won't go 34-0 through the regular like last years team simply because of a tougher schedule but this team won't bow out in the 2nd round of the playoffs either. There is a good chance that none of our starters will even be a Senior, 3 for sure won't be. I think this team will be better because they won't have Kirven in the middle to rely on which will make them all better ball players and more aggressive.

I expect Newton to be really down this week. They have only won 45 of the last 47 games they have played. I think it will be closer than people think. I say Newton 52 that other team 0.

The Wack has become a dangerous team from what I hear. Not good (1-3 soon to be 1-4) but dangerous. They have a player who will be the first 0 star (Rivals has never heard of him) from a small, losing Texas high school team recruited by UT, UH, Clemson, etc. There's something in the water.

I guess what he is trying to say is that our coaching is a HANDICAP. United has a very good coaching staff and personally i will put them up against any in the area. Everyone is quick to say the coaching, oh they will get out coached. What does that really mean being at a school that has the demographics as a United, Central, or Ozen. You got my point. So I guess You're basically saying Pevey staff is better than Louis staff, well that's what i get out of it since you cant say it. WB staff is ok but as you know a good QB make any coach look good. Ask BB in New England a loser until he met Brady!!! Back to my point, out coached. Lets make a lil list and see who would you take on paper not knowing their school!! HC= Louis- Everyone knows his story SOUTH PARK LEGEND!!!! Mic drop DC= Franks - local star in the late 80,s: went to Baylor as a DB and played over 10 years of pro ball, via NFL or Canada. High school coach for over10 yrs as well Jones- played at WB went on to play at Southern in BR, was on Stump's staff we they were making deep playoff runs as a LB coach 10 yrs coaching experience OC= Bevil - Local QB star at WOS; went to JC and one a national championship as the QB. The starting QB at LU when program started back up; trains almost every QB in the area. Grad Ass on the college level were he honed the skills of the entire offense. OL, RB,WR and QB. Can coach it all!!! 7 yrs exp @ HS coaching Ceasar- Local star at WR, went on to play his college ball at Arkansas. Hes as good as it gets coaching kids regardless of the QB play hes consistently has had a D1 WR. 10 yrs HS coaching exp Dotson- Cant speak on what i truly don't know (college career), but the other school wanted him just as bad as BU needed him under the circumstances, Great OL coach and hes doing a great job as the run coordinator. 10 yrs HS coaching EXP. DB- BT- Local star for Central went on to play on LU's first team as well. Was a standout player at LU, all conference performer. Will be coach Stowers DC we he get into coaching, so that says a lot in itself. Played for Coach Stowers!!! Most wanted this past summer, glade he stayed!! 6 yrs exp DL/LB- KT- Local stud as well from central, played ball at SFA. Performed at a high level in college, super good energy will be a DC in the near future if he want!! 6 yrs HS exp RB= Nelson- Local star at the Brook, don't know his college career. said all that to say this, that out coached stuff is a thing of the past. They said it against Nederland and Memorial and we see what the outcome was. I know for a fact WB coaches don't have the Credential that i mention in the above caption!! WB head coach is from OF, they didn't hire him prior to the sub varsity parents going to a school board meeting and petitioned that he get the WB head job when Flanagan left. No HC exp at all but now hes the hottest thing in the GT!! The COACHES i mentioned above were all Scholarship student athletes, meaning they didn't walk on the teams they were recruited by those schools. Not saying just because a person played football he can coach football!! I am saying these guys have proven they can coach and AL is allowing the young coaches to grow their wings and right the ship and hes the master coach; input only when needed and necessary. AL knows one way, old school do the right thing kinda of coach, we know its an ERA of 7 on 7, camps, and one sport players. They train all off season on one sport, that's what the younger coaches bring to the table is that extra stuff. Which means doing stuff that's outside the norm. Friday game is going to be BU coming out party Mark my word.

I agree with all of the above - Two teams not mentioned to keep an eye on: Livingston and Tarkington Livingston has Mya Miles who is one of the best players in the area - they also have a new coach Tarkington - returns all of their players off a team that lost a close game in Area and finished second in 21 4A - I think they come out of 21 4A as the champion this year but the misfortune there is they would see HJ in the 3rd round. For all 4A teams in our region - the road to SA goes through HJ - no doubt about it. Another 4A Region 3 team to watch (although not in SETX) is Fairfield - they only lost one Senior off a team that lost to HJ in the Regional Final. SETX girls basketball is on the rise - IMO - we have some very athletic teams and some very good players to watch this season.

I have a feeling we are either going to make a really strong run at the DC or we are going to fall really flat. We have both of our top scorers back from the last two years, we have other pieces to the puzzle, but they are going to have to step up in big spots. They should be a very physical team and won’t be afraid to play or match up with anyone. Just don’t have much height under the basket. I’m hoping now that my kid has the recruiting all behind her she can relax and just play basketball. I look for big things from her and M Stampley this year!

Well the season is rapidly approaching! Would love to hear some early predictions. I think this should be a very fun year. Will it be HJ and Woodville and then everyone else? (HJ and Woodville will be playing against each other at HJ on Nov 19th by the way) Will Jasper make a strong run? How will United fair now that their bigs have graduated? How good will West Brook be with a new coach and a very strong Freshman guard joining them? Now that PNG has tasted the playoffs will they be poised for a deeper run this year? Will Lumberton make the playoffs this year after a hard fought try last season? How will Silsbee bounce back after losing in the regional semi final? Will Legacy continue in their winning ways? There are many good schools in the area who will give it their all. Lets hear your predictions!!

Only game I saw of gcm last year was at stallworth vs Pam. I was on the phone immediately to CPS for the mental and physical abuse PAM put on the patriots. PAM won the game on opening kickoff, really. Different patriots team and PAM not as good as last year I believe. My guess for this and United brook games are heart influenced. Patriots 28-21👍🐻

No. In the first week in October, you are positioned to kick-butt or get your butt kicked. All have had the same amount of time to prepare; if you and yours spent your time feeling sorry about things you can't control, bend over and get what is coming to you. Some have focused on getting better and building a team with what they can do with their talent. If you don't like what you have built, do better next time. If you can't get excited about you kids, you should be ashamed. P.S. If you invite us to your "HOMECOMING" we are coming to kick your BUTT.

Undisciplined I believe you said. I think after the loss, coaches have instilled some discipline in the dawgs. WOS looked good last week, but not until the 2nd half. Coach T would say... its gonna take 48 minutes to get a win on Friday night.

I think people are slightly overreacting to the vidor win over Crosby. Vidor isn’t great, but I did watch them scrimmage Silsbee.. they aren’t really that bad either. They had a pretty decent passing “game” that day. And their defense pretty much held Silsbee in check for the most part (from what I remember)... with that said, I would take Crosby over Dayton easily.

And over a 10 year period, short of “finding money” somewhere else, I can’t imagine it would put a dent in it. He can also serve up to 180 days in jail as a condition of probation. Knowing Judge Stevens, i wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen. Still, 2.5 mil for some probation and a 10k fine, I’m sure a lot of people would take that deal. Reminds me of the American Greeds my wife and I watch and she goes nuts when people defraud people out of 100s of millions of dollars sometimes and get like a 5 year sentence...

Ashly Elam with 12 News just put out his weekly numbers for the area. I previously mentioned what WB and BU score and give up a game but I didn't know that WB had the highest scoring average (45) in the 409 while BU has the stingiest defense (7) in the 409. BU also has the 3rd highest scoring differential (how much they beat their opponents by) at 27 points in the area. WB wasn't mentioned on that list. Something is going to give come Friday night...
