That’s what I read… didn’t know about his family situation and him having talented daughters. That’s great he’s a family man first and putting his daughter’s future ahead of his own ambitions.

but I was more asking what position he will hold at BH… on what’s he going to do.

Not 100% sure.  I've heard but can't confirm.. and don't want to say something that I don't know for sure.

Not confirmed but from my understanding, Liberty ISD is set to hire, Kedrick Harrison, who graduated from Coldspring, in 2012.  I also don't know if this hire comes with the AD tag, or HFC?  Possibly somebody more in the know could confirm.

Do we have a run-down of Coach Harrison's accomplishments?

I wish him all the luck in the world, but Liberty missed a big opportunity with this hire. There was another candidate who could've really worked to take that program in the right direction. I guess the decision makers weren't interested in taking that route. Either way, Congrats Coach Harrision.

Well, I was rather confident this was a done deal, but I have since heard that there is a short-list of 3 candidates and nobody appears to be a lock, just yet.  Next board meeting is tomorrow April 16.

Just curious, did Randy Rowe apply for this job?

How do you know that Harrison is not a big opportunity? I don't really know him, but maybe just maybe he is what Liberty needs. I was just wondering what you know about Harrison that doesn't make him a big opportunity.

I don't know who the other coach was, but this guy has no head coaching experience that I can find, and minimal high school experience.  after graduating from college he spent a year each in defensive coaching positions on bad college teams before moving to high school.  Not sure what he did from 2019-2022. He spent last year at cleveland, who was terrible.  He may be great, and I don't care one way or another, but if Liberty passed up a coach with a history of success for a virtual unknown with no previous success at the high school or college level I'd be pretty frustrated if I was a panther fan.

Do you have anything that you'd like to tell us that you think makes him a big opportunity?!

I don't know anything about Harrison other than the fact that his coaching history is limited, at best. Social media seems to indicate he has been given the Athletic Director and Head Coach title, which is even more baffling for a guy who has not one iota of experience in either role. Especially when Karen Slack is right there in house. All I know is this: there was absolutely a candidate on their list, who they interviewed, who has 20+ years' experience as a SUCCESSFUL AD/HC in the SETX area. He would've been a slam dunk hire and gotten folks in Liberty excited about playing football again, especially with the group of young kids they have coming up through the ranks. Unfortunately, they decided to take a different route. Like I said, I am not throwing shade at Harrison, everybody has to get their first job somewhere. I just hope Liberty didn't pass a great opportunity for some reason other than thinking Harrison was the superior candidate.

    • "AD's don't allow them to play"  that's false.  I've watched many of fall ball games and I can name 3 or 4 SETX teams that had football players on the team.
    • I would not say NO ONE REALLY CARES WHAT HAPPENS WITH BASEBALL.. All you have to do is go to Ford Park every weekend and look at how much money parents pour into baseball.. lol I get what you are saying.. but look at it from this point of view... WINS look good on resume correct? Would a AD do better if he has all his multi-sport kids stay in his program? Again they are usually the more athletic kid. Is his actions driving away the more athletic kids to "concentrate on one sport"? Sometimes more is not better.. Kids get burned out really quick if they believe their AD/Coach does not care about their personal athletic dreams and desires.  Like I said.. a Good AD knows how to navigate this issue.
    • Never understood why you can't be good at all 4 major sports. If you are talented enough, and athletic enough to be a Regional Finalist football team, then you would think you would be athletic enough to at least be competitive in basketball. If you wanted to be...... And as big a baseball town as Jasper is, where did that tradition go? Where are those kids now?
    • Can't blame the AD. Texas is a Football mecca. If an AD does poorly in football, but decent in baseball, he may be looking for another job soon. If he does great in football, then no one really cares what happens with baseball, generally speaking. He's trying to keep a job and bolster his resume' for the next chance to promote his career.
    • there won't be a scheduling problem... cause AD's don't allow them to play.. its a nice double standard they like to use.
