While yesterday certainly did not go as the Dogs had hoped, this team certainly overachieved...pre season, many had them as a question mark to make the playoffs...they won district and two playoff games to compile a very respectable 9 win season...only one team in each division has their season end the way they want, so hats off to a team that proved to be far better than most expected!!

Honest opinion Nederland did what they've done all season and got down to a good team. This time that good team fed on that lead and blew it open. The aftermath is a bit discouraging, but hey it happens. I bet the dogs felt a lot like Texas High did when they were down by 28. Different teams handle that differently, Nederland got into a track meet without the boys to run a track meet against maybe the fastest team in 5AD2.

To beat a team like Marshall you either have to score with them or shut them down. Crosby will likely have to score with them Huntsville would have tried to shut them down. Nederland needed to shut them down and when that didn't work the barn cart fell over.

Great season dogs, might very well have lost to a state finalist if the cougars cannot take them out this week.

Sooo.... why didn’t y’all beat Nederland? Was because it because y’all didn’t have the boys to do it. Your analogy is stupid. Y’all’s season ends this week.

Why did Nederland lose to PNG? It's football. PNG probably played a great game versus Nederland, Nederland played a great one versus Crosby. Does that make PNG better than Nederland? but how can PNG be better than Nederland and Nederland better than Crosby and Crosby better than PNG?

It's matchups bud.

Your analogy still makes no sense.

Nederland is a big smash mouth running team with couple good pieces they need to hold people down. That's why they don't do hurry up very often, use a lot of flank backs and TE/FB formations and are completely happy getting 3-5 yards a play. Similar to someone like Huntsville although that team had some playmakers particularly their D1 DL and their #4 wide receiver.

If you're Nederland game planning you thought is we have to score efficiently. and play great defense, they feel like the Huntsville style of team. I think Huntsville is a bit of a more dynamic defensive team, but you have to use your size to move the ball and control the game. Which is how you would describe both teams this year. How do they win they hold down their opponents and win without having to score a lot. Huntsville was beating everyone 28-0, 35-7, Nederland was winning their games 35-28, 28-21.

This is very different from what Crosby will bring which is a highly dynamic offense, being bigger and stronger won't matter as much because most of the Crosby offense is putting you in double trouble. do you go for Dunn or Branch, or the Wide receiver. It was very effective against Texas High, and pretty effective against Huntsville.

Was it as effective against Nederland? No but Dunn also wasn't playing QB against Nederland. The offense has looked completely different since Dunn took over which also explains how much we need him to be healthy. 66 versus FBW, 62 Versus Texas high and then 32 against a defense that hadn't given up more than 17 all year. BH scored 19 in a blowout late and Crosby put 32 on that defense to win. Without Dunn for a quarter.

I can see a shootout coming with Marshall because of that awesome Wide receiver they have he will create so many problems. but these are two completely different styles of teams.

Smh, you lay out some decent points in a couple post and a guy whose squad probably has a .350 win percentage in our class and runs the slot-T calls it stupid? You’d think they would somewhat benefit from so many homes floating away in the recent floods which allowed them to drop to 4A but they’re still a sub .500 team. You’re going to learn to limit your responses to the Vidor folks and definitely not put any value in their critique of your analysis.

    • No doubt. It's definitely intriguing enough to watch how this all plays out...
    • We all know that each state has its own laws which can be very different, especially in endeavors like annexation or incorporation, so there is no telling what Louisiana law says. I don’t know but I doubt that there is a point of appeal for Baton Rouge to force St. George to be absorbed back into Baton Rouge by now giving them what they asked for years ago. “Oh, we lost? Well let’s just undo incorporation, ruled as legal by the Supreme Court (of LA)  by going back and giving them what they asked for”. There has to be a law allowing such an appeal. I think what I read about the lower court decisions which actually backed up Baton Rouge, they did not all rule that incorporation was illegal but that they did not think the city could have services up and running soon enough. So you have a court saying that sure you can split but only if we agree that you can provide services get enough. In Louisiana, who knows? I doubt that Texas has such a mechanism to allow a city to split, for example, could the west end of Beaumont say that they wish to make their own city against Beaumont’s objection? I doubt it. Certainly Beaumont could allow a city to be created as Port Arthur did with Bridge City and Taylor’s Landing. There is a huge difference in allowing and forcing which is what happened in Baton Rouge. Similar to the sometime discussed topic of Texas splitting off from the United States because they don’t like the way things are going, think if citizens in any city in the United States were allowed to create their own city, which could not be stopped by the parent city.  That could get interesting!! Don't like what is happening in the south side of Chicago? Just de-annex and create your own city!! Anyway, I thought that it is an interesting story when the capital city splits in half.
    • Wasn't that 1st round loss last year? Also, during those previous 10 years I am pretty sure Jasper didn't go 2-58 in district play in the other 5 sports.
    • Ma'am, I don't think he said all Muslims were like that. If I'm reading this right, he's referencing the terrorist Muslims. You know, the ones who commit murder & have no regard for anyone who doesn't follow their jihadist beliefs...
    • Great playoff run, no doubt.  They did make the 3rd round(1 less) 4 of the previous 10 years, only one first round loss. 6 district championships and 4 second place.  The only 4 years Carthage was in the same district. So no, I'm not sure it does make sense.
