  1. Bryant pitched really well, but benefited from some great defense behind her, and also the extra 20 ft to center field that the UT field has. They hit one and maybe two balls that would’ve been out of any other field she’s pitched on this year. So she shut them out for the first 5, but I wouldn’t say she shut them down. She also gave up a homer after she came back in. That said, it was unfortunate that Nutter struggled considering the year she’s had. And I don’t know why the coach left her in as long as he did. BH got completely shut down until the 7th, and then had a chance to steal one. But Melissa looked the better team the entire game. That team is unreal!
  2. Barring a miracle UTSA is about to beat UT for the second time in 3 days and put them out. That UTSA lineup is stacked!
  3. My grandmother is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s. It’s a horrible disease.
  4. Hard to watch. Flat out beat themselves. Base running cost them at least 3 runs, including 2 in the final inning that would’ve won it.
  5. The abuse is able-bodied adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s choosing not to work so they can suck off the government teat. The amazing thing is that for a long time those same folks could get income tax returns of up to $10,000. Another common fraud is filing for benefits as head of household as a “single mother” when the father lives in the house. I saw that multiple times every year when I worked in Beaumont. That said, you’re absolutely right that there is plenty of fraud perpetrated by providers. If the visit is free for the patient, do they ever really pay attention to what services the office is charging to Medicaid?
  6. Yes we will. If I start hearing about people truly in need being denied in large numbers (not an occasional mistake that the media will surely jump on) then I will rescind my support.
  7. Decreased funds are fine if you make an effort to stop fraud and abuse. Due to my work I’m more than familiar with how many people who receive benefits who shouldn’t.
  8. Like when you assumed Trump is going to kick kids on vents off of Medicaid? Hypocrisy at its finest.
  9. There is a substantial amount of abuse, but I would assume that people with genuine need will not be affected negatively. The amount of able-bodied parents I’ve dealt with in my career who chose to either work part time or not at all to maintain their Medicaid and welfare benefits was astonishing. I would be 100% against any bill that makes it more difficult or impossible for someone who truly needs help to get what they need.
  10. I guess the difference for me is the rangers bullpen blew two leads, whereas the stros never got a runner past 2nd base in the game you’re mentioning 😉
  11. I get all that. But I’d be just as upset if I rented a beach cabin months ago and showed up and there was thousands of drunks trashing up the beach and committing crimes
  12. I don't see how when many of the businesses close now, and others are damaged. Not to mention the cost of cleaning and fixing the beach every year. I'm not really sure what the legality is, but sometimes an "over the top" response is necessary to fix an over the top problem. I'm confident from seeing local residents on facebook that very few people in Galveston county are particularly upset by the drop in traffic OR the temporary closures/delays.
  13. wasted two excellent starts that series. Could've easily swept, but certainly should have taken at least 3 out 4.
  14. Brown has been an absolute monster. Glad to take that one last night!
  15. Hearne had a heck of a year last year, falling in the state finals by 4 and going 29-6. I don't know anything about the coach, but he seemed to do well there.
  16. should be a fun series this weekend. 4-gamer with serious implications in the standings. Stros and Rangers are tied for second only 1 game back of the Mariners thanks to the Ms faltering and the rangers running off 5 straight dubs. I'm hoping it has that playoff feel that seems to come the last couple of years when these two meet.
  17. just because it refutes your position doesn't make it asinine. the house is a microcosm of the country, and the metaphor is accurate.
  18. Appears they lost 4 🤷🏻‍♂️. They’re about to get another shot at Brookeland, though.
  19. After only paying a few hundred dollars back to the district, but spending thousands while spending weekends in jail, Walker has finally had his probation revoked.
  20. Do you know what "perseverating" means? That's what you're doing. We're talking about something happening right now, and your only response is to (repeatedly) bring up something from 40 years ago. The irony is you keep asking this question but won't address why it was okay for Obama to deport so many people.
  21. This is literally what Republicans are asking.
  22. So you’re saying if my scenario was the law you wouldn’t have a problem with it. Got it.
  23. what if the law allowed for a situation where a criminal could break into your house and have a baby, and then not only would the baby be allowed to stay and live there in your house, but the mother would be allowed to as well so she could take care of the baby? As the owner of the house you'd even have to allot some of your monthly budget to help provide basic services and food for them. Sound absurd? It does to me as well. @UT alum, same question.
  24. Just glad there's no Rocker in there. I hope he figures it out, but he's been killing us this year.
