  1. LCM was able to take a lot of air out of the ball with some penalty and spot-aided drives, but the horns D made some huge plays to stop them. The 1st team D has given up 3 points in 2 weeks. The offense wasn’t clicking quite as well as they have the first two weeks, but still did more than enough against a solid Bears D. Tough matchup against Stafford next week, who has wins this season against Hitchcock and Bellville.
  2. last thing we want is a wet(ter) field. Broussard with dry footballs is a nightmare for opposing secondaries. TBH, it's probably still the same when they're wet.
  3. oh, also, I'll have that deer sausage for you in a cooler in the back of my truck. you won't need ice, just a cooler.
  4. if you stay on the track you'll be fine. No promises if you decide to go take a selfie in the corner down by the endzone
  5. Had a pretty good rain shower go through earlier, but should stop early enough to dry things out some.
  6. and pretty much anywhere else. Scary to punt to, also.
  7. what did he say, and who did you have?
  8. correct. I do agree with the guy to some extent. I expect him to get some offers a lot more impressive than the ones he currently has from UTSA and Tulsa. Dude can sling it about as well as anyone I've seen from around here over the last several years. He was very good last year and has progressed considerably since.
  9. last year I think it was Vype? Not sure about this year.
  10. predictions?
  11. I’ll take Crawford by 10
  12. Fun fact: through two games Blake Broussard has 9 touchdowns and 10 incompletions.
  13. Stats from last night: Blake Broussard- 18/23, 324 yds, 4 TDs, 3 rushes for 24 yds Parker Sebastian- 6 receptions, 194 yds, 2 TDs Sage Guilder- 4 rushes, 65 yds, 1 TD, 1 reception for 20 yds and a TD Cam Heckaman- 12 rushes for 61 yds, 1 TD Jace Bennett- 6 rushes for 14 yds and a TD, 1 reception for 20 yds Dwayne Long- 4 receptions for 50 yds Gage Korry- 2 receptions for 19 yds and a TD Jesus Sandoval- 7/7 XP, 1/1 FG, 1 fumble recover, 1 successful onside kick defense hasn’t been posted yet, but there were some big boys with a lot of tackles last night. Not much got into the secondary.
  14. The horns exceeded all expectations last night. The line play was fantastic. Broussard had all the time he needed to pick the secondary apart. On the rare occasion Vidor broke through he was able to scramble and make plays. The d-line may have been even more impressive. Vidor picked up 3 or 4 first downs on their first drive, and then I don’t know if they had that many the rest of the game apart from their scoring drive late against the second team. The HF running game got going last night, which was nice to see after we beat LaMarque exclusively through the air last week. Special teams was solid, although the air was like soup and my kicker wasn’t getting the distance he got last week on his long kicks. All in all HF was fantastic in all facets. They dominated in all areas. I will say, as a special teams guy, Vidor’s kicker is quality, although he didn’t have much of a chance to showcase that last night.
  15. We gotta stay healthy. If we do we have a shot. Almost beat them last year with a ton of injuries, and we’re definitely better than last year. They may be as well, though.
  16. have some very good players in the secondary. one player got a very substantial offer today if what i'm hearing is correct. I'll know more tonight. Dline has a couple of really big guys, but maybe not quite the beef they had in years past. We have some mean linebackers who are going to have to come up big tonight.
  17. I just looked at 3 different sites and didn't see anything forecasted much past 5 o'clock. but yes, rain could help Vidor.
  18. Vidor's improved this year, but it's worth noting that Silsbee has basically a new everybody in their skill positions on the offensive side of the ball. New QB, new RB1, graduated 3 of their 4 top receivers from last year. And this was game 1 for that new offensive unit. Keeping Broussard out of a rhythm is going to be a tall task. He was as in-rhythm as it gets against a very large, very fast defense last week. I think the bigger deciding factor in this one will be how well HF defends the slot-T. If Vidor can control the clock and keep the ball out of Broussard's hands completely for large chunks of the game they'll greatly increase their chances to win. If the Horns get a whole lot of possessions they're likely to score a whole lot of points.
  19. HJ has some holes, but they have a couple of players who could start for pretty much any program in the area. I picked EC to win, but like others I don't think this will be a blowout.
  20. who you got? Always tough to defend the Slot-T, and Vidor looks much improved this year. Came very close to upsetting Silsbee last week. I'm gonna take HF 38-28.
  21. pretty wild stuff. we got very lucky out here in HF land. storm skirted around us. Had winds up to 50, probably 3-4 inches of rain, and it only lasted about 4 hours. Somehow got stronger and absolutely pounded areas north of us.
