If they are naming a member in the post then yes I would say that it's personal.

You need to stop with the constant calling out of members. Can be viewed as personal attacks.

I am expecting 4 to be on varsity this coming season.

I am being told he is coming out of retirement for this one season until a hire can be made next year. He will be the DC if school board approves retire rehire. School district will have to pay at least 16% of his retirement plus his salary (whatever that will be) and will have to pay $500+ towards his retirement insurance. For one season I think that can be money well spent. Wouldn't recommend it for multiple years.

Preparation for the next level? You mean the 10% of all of Texas high school basketball players that actually play next level? A shot clock is needed for those players? What about the 90% that will not play next level? What about teams across the state that don't have a single college prospect on their roster or haven't had any in many years? I know for a fact that those teams are in the vast majority but we need to implement a rule to benefit the "elite" teams? I totally understand the complaint about teams that simply hold the ball with no intention of running an offense. Teams that hold it to try and keep the score down and not get blown out. Particularly when that team is behind. (aka Lumberton/Silsbee game). I don't like that as well. It's not basketball. But I have watched plenty of basketball in my 62 years and I can honestly state that those instances are anomalies. You might find 6-10 games per season out of the 1000's of games played where a team holds the ball with no intent on running an offense. But we should implement a shot clock because of that? I am all for what makes the game better for EVERYONE. Not just for the select few. -

Just in Lumberton this morning when I was driving thru on 96, these were the prices I saw: 3.03 (but you had to buy a car wash) 3.15 3.17 3,23 3.49 3.59 3.69 I paid 3.17 at HEB and just half a mile down there was a station that had 3.69. How can it be half a dollar cheaper (or more) in that close proximity? Makes zero sense. -

UIL only allows a certain amount of games played outside of tournaments. I believe if a team plays just 2 tournaments then they can play 21 games but those also include district games. So if you have 12 district games, then you are allowed to schedule 9 non district games. If you play 3 tournaments then you can play 19. That would allow 7 games. In some cases, districts play as many as 14 games so that cuts down on how many non district games that are allowed to be played. Coaches make schedules out prior to the seasons including getting in tournaments of their choosing. I think trying to keep open a weekend during the season would be a logistical nightmare and I bet the vast majority of coaches would not care to do that during the season. The TABC summer thing is great and very happy that they have this for the teams. But this is not about the fans. It's about allowing teams to play during the summer. I simply can't see your scenario happening.

Will be another "down" year for Silsbee this coming season. Meaning they will contend for a district title but likely will finish 2nd or 3rd and then out in 2nd round, maybe 3rd. Just too young at this point in time. But after this season, the Tigers will be back on top again and be back to making deep runs in the playoffs.

Those other levels can go get their talent while most high schools have to play with the talent (or lack thereof) that lives within the district. I think a coach should have the option to play the style that benefits his/her team the most for success. If it's a deliberate style (not holding the ball in a huddle like what Lumberton tried to do with no real intent on running an offense) then so be it. If it takes a minute to a minute and a half to run your offense aka Argyle, Kingwood, Central Heights, etc., then what's the harm? I want diversity in the game. I like seeing different styles being played. Shot clock basically makes everyone play the same. Most coaches and teams that want a shot clock already put the ball up within 45 seconds of the possession. Doesn't help them offensively. They just don't want to have to defend that long. The shot clock is just not needed at the high school level. -
Teams that impressed me based on the results: North Shore going 3-0 CE King going 2-1 with one of those wins over SA Brennan Goose Creek Memorial going 3-0 Port Neches-Groves going 3-0 Kingwood Park going 3-0 Huffman going 2-1 Trinity going 3-0

All games are final. Our SETXsports teams went a combined 69-62 on the weekend.

Astros win 7-5 in 10. Houston has now won 9 of their last 12 and have reached 2 games under .500 (42-44) for the first time since April 10 when they were 6-8.
