  4. I am pulling for Hardin! I told someone this week that a team from our 3A district will win at least a first round game and Hardin is going to break the ongoing "0-fer" 3A drought. I love their smash mouth style that I read about. Their physical play can strengthen this weak district. That's needed to advance. Go Hardin!

  5. Friendswood (2-3,0-2) will be visiting Angleton (5-0,2-0) Friday at 7PM. Friendswood is the closest district member to Angleton by far, being about 28 miles away. They should have plenty to motivate them with their backs against the wall after losing their first 2 district games to a couple of the better teams in the district. Also, Angleton has a 6-game winning streak going against them dating back to 2018, so revenge is also motivating them. Angleton is fairly healthy other than the 2nd string QB has been injured and hasn't appeared in the last couple of games. The 3rd guy has been getting reps in his place and the HC called up his son, big for a freshman at 6', 180 so that there would be 3 players available at QB. I did notice that they took out the starter, Duron in the 1st half against Pasadena, no need to risk getting him hurt. Duron is having a phenomenal year, both passing and rushing. He has completed over 78% of his passes for 936 yds and has run 17 times for 180 yds, a 10.6 average. Angleton has used 12 ball carriers, 5 of which are running backs with 1248 yds on the ground on 137 carries, an average of 9.1 yds/carry. The 2 most used backs, Neyland and Moore are a thunder and lightning combo, with Neyland being over 200 lbs. and Moore having 4.4 speed. This could be the first game this year that the starters have to finish the game.

    2025 Texas Rangers

Had a chance to sneak into the post season but ran out of juice the last week and a half. Finished the season 81-81. Bruce Bochy and the RANGERS agreed to part ways which opened the door for new manager, Skip Schumaker. [Hidden Content]

  16. Vype moved RSS into their GHA Top 10 at #9 this week after their win over the Eagles. I can’t remember the last time they were ranked by anyone. Had to be back in the 90’s?

    Newton vs Woodville

Kevin Shorter got hurt in 2013 vs EC , Newton went on to win that game 43-21 . Newton last district loss was in 2011 to EC 39-34 . Newton freshman QB Isaiah Foster is a beast , he threw for a combined 400 yards in the last two games 6 tds 0 int . Newton will definitely throw the ball in this game , they have been really balanced since Foster took over at QB . Using multiple WR since the Tatum game . If Woodville only focus is stopping one of the best running backs in Texas , KJ Porter , then expect Foster to torch the defense. If Woodville respect the pass then expect Porter to run for 250 . Woodville hasn’t really played anybody, this will be the best secondary Babin faces all year. I doubt he leaves without an interception. The speed of Of newton’s defense is gonna cause a lot of trouble for Babin, he wont be running for first downs, he be running for his life , he won’t have near as much time to find a Receivers.

  20. Need to give a lot of props to Huntsville. I thought we would struggle with their run game, but grossly underestimated how good they actually are. My assessment of Huntsville after Cedar Park was they're really fast but blocking and tackling are far below the standard Southern established. I think I was right about that three weeks ago, but both improved very, very much since Cedar Park. I'm convinced that Huntsville is better than they were in the last two years, and are a legit danger to everyone in Region 3. I was extremely pleased with PNG's turnaround in the 2nd half, and I think the defense learned vital lessons about how to deal with such a competent, athletic offense. But, I hope we look at this as a close win. The most important play of the game was the missed field goal. Some could argue that Hville should have gone for it on 4th and 1, but I think going for the FG was the right decision. You have a chance to maybe get stuffed on 4th and give momentum back to PNG, or you have a chance to get 3 points and make it where even if PNG scored 14 unanswered they would have only tied the game. So, Moebes was right to take the field goal. But, with the missed field goal, it changed the entire schedule for Hville when PNG got to 24. Instead of being tied, they were playing from behind. Then, when we scored another TD they weren't simply down by 7, they were down by 10 (actually down by 11, but I'm discounting the safety for this analysis). Their margin of error got smaller, real fast. My point is, PNG should think of this game as we won by a field goal (second year in a row that this game came down largely to a missed field goal). HVille could have been so much more patient for a lot longer in the game with those three points on the board. This game was also a testament to the importance of keeping the ball out of your opponent's hands. PNG dominated time of possession in the 2nd half, especially in the 3rd quarter. We held the ball for long drives, played with patience, and limited their opportunities. In the end, the whole second half turned on about four or five total plays where we stuffed them or got a sack. If we had given them more opportunities, who knows what would have happened? In other words, our defensive success in the 2nd half had as much to do with our adjustments as it did with not giving them more plays. And, Hville was figuring it out -- That TD at the end wasn't a fluke. They hadn't tried that misdirect the whole 2nd half. The problem with that play is our whole defense has to commit to charging the running lane to stop the play if they run to the far side -- When they reverse the field, we don't have anyone there. If they had more chances to try that, it's a different ball game. Summary: Ecstatic with PNG's defense, play calling, and overall level of play. But after last week I consider Huntsville an extremely reasonable contender for regional champion. They are MUCH better than last year. If it works out that PNG and Huntsville meet in the playoffs it's a 50/50 game and Hville has all the weapons to be terrifying. The only big weakness I see right now is the Huntsville tackling. I'm still not sure how much of our run success was due to us being good or Hville still needing work in the tackling game. If that improves, watch out. Good game, Hornets.

    Hardin vs Buna

I read that EC was shorthanded against Buna. And EC didn't "hang with Hardin" for even a little bit. It was a one sided domination for basically the whole game. But it's understandable why one would think what you said.

  24. Each year teams tend to take on their own identity. There are several factors that help make that team (returning starters, experience, depth, health, strength of schedule, etc.) To compare apples to apples, the 2022 PN-G team through 5 games was 3-2, and this year's team is 5-0, so it could be argued that it could be the more complete team. We shall see. A state finalist in 2022 and state championship in 2023 would take a "pretty complete team". I believe early indications are the 2025 Indians have as good a chance at getting to the title game as both of those teams.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to complain or be negative about the state of Lamar football. But the ultimate site "realist"(pessimist) will most definitely find something to whine and complain about. Coach Rossomando is doing a great job.

  29. And the hits just keep on comin’!! Apparently his doctorate from Morgan State University…. was never awarded. So now the Des Moines school district was found to have a superintendent with a PhD, who had no PhD. Let’s see, an illegal alien is found in possession of a firearm which is a felony, flees from the police and now appears to have falsified government documents by claiming a doctorate which he does not have. I don’t typically bring up DEI but really? Did the school district not do any background on him? I guess he checked enough box to not need a background investigation.
