UIL to discuss removing Charter schools from traditional classification system
rupert3 and one other reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
UIL to hear proposal that could remove charter schools from traditional classification system. A separate DEC meeting will be held soon to rule on alleged recruiting violations by charter school Oak Cliff Faith Family and its coaches. This should have never happened. Be curious to see if anything comes of this.2 points -
Big senior class for HF with just the right mixture of underclassman to make a very good and talented team. You have seen and could tell of their growth each year. My Tigers will have to be focused and disciplined and determined to win this game. Maybe this will be HF and that senior class year to get over that hump to beat Silsbee, then again maybe not. Silsbee has some questions that need to be answered starting this week. Will our young Oline take that next step in growing up, on the job training? Will our offense protect the ball and no turnovers? Will our Dline be able to maintain the line of scrimmage? Will our secondary be able to keep up with the passing of HF? Will our HC not get hurt this year during this game? This should be a very exciting, playoff atmosphere, game. Well, y’all know me I’m a homer and picking Silsbee to win. Are you ready?2 points

Even in the PNG v Huntsville game. The shanked punt was the only reason HV had a chance to get to OT. The game really wasn't that close. The play clock, and everyone has talked about this, was a drive-killer for the NDNs. They had to make more plays than they needed to. In the end.. PNG forced a long FG and the clock was an issue.1 point

Without quoting Rez again... And it's a perfect example of how bad clock management can screw up your win probability. I can point the 5AD2 title game last year and call that historic win a MASTERPIECE of excellence in clock management. The onside kick and forcing TOs before Coach Todd even knew he was beaten by the odds. Time outs are undervalued and sometimes, and it's the HC's job, to manage the gameplan. And, if a HC is 12-0 in one score games, we should look at how this is related to using the time, in any given game, as an edge. If a team wins by 30 points the clock doesn't matter. If a team is always ahead or nearly behind, against another great team, in a close game, and the other team is always out of TOs? It's an edge. The clock management strategy was already happening in games like this when a coach knows how to game the clock/ It was happening in the 1st half and managing possessions going into the 2nd half. I watch NCAA and HSFB almost exclusively. I like Texas, ATM and LSU. Les Miles made me go bald on Clock.1 point

Henderson was supposed to be one of the few easy games in that district. went 2-8 last year. This year they're 5-1 and somehow just upset Kilgore. you're right, that district is loaded.1 point

Predictions Crosby @ K-Park Thursday 10/10/2024
Justafan72 reacted to Cougtalk for a topic
Think Crosby should win this one running away so for this season I guess that means like 28-7. Such an odd feeling during the Coach P or Rio era this would have likely been a 52-14 kind of game but we have a lot of trouble in the redzone when the defense gets to load the box a little more with the safeties. That being said the Jimmies and Joes are likely going to carry the day regardless of Joe the Magnificent. Think might be a long night for that K-park offense given Crosby's defensive unit this year.1 point -
5A D1 District 11 Discussion Thread
Cougtalk reacted to purple reign for a topic
6th week scores: Angleton 80, Pasadena 0 Crosby 28, Friendswood 14 La Porte 42, Kingwood Park 6 Porter 10, Kempner 9 From the 1st 2 weeks of district, it doesn't appear Pasadena, Porter, or Kempner have much chance of making the playoffs. Crosby's impressive win makes them look like they are probably in and K Park's chances looking a little dim after they were beaten so badly. I still think Friendswood's chances are still pretty good despite the loss. I see they did slightly better against Ball than did highly regarded PA Memorial.1 point -

This Bridge City district will be all done in the first rd of playoffs. They have a bad match up in rd 1. Kilgore. Chapel Hill. Henderson. Lindale1 point -
Ned's RB should have a big game vs. WF. Huntsville ran on WF and Ned should be able to do the same with a better RB. Just give the ball to Thomas and get out of the way.1 point

Woodville prevails by 14. The Newton team is no longer of the same caliber as before. When it comes to coaching, I believe Woodville has an advantage over Newton.Woodville 28 Newton 14.1 point

That’s hard to say because I’ve only watched BC, Lum, and Vidor. Vidor’s O Line was having PROBLEMS. It could have just been that we made them appear to be bad, but I don’t think so. We looked like the Chain Gang of old up front last Friday. I don’t know how many stops the cards made in the pirate backfield.1 point -

Have not seen them, however BH is coached and their players play much harder than PAM. I do think PAM still comes in 4th and makes the playoffs. GB, BH, and Lufkin will all be better1 point

Beaumont West Brook played well enough to win this game if not for the mistakes and an absent passing game...Lufkin has some explosive players that needed to be kept in check but that wasn't the case....People on this thread saying West Brook would lose by 50 made a huge miscalculation...even DCTF had them losing by a huge margin....like i said earlier "it's why you play the game" GO BRUINS1 point
