  2. I think Clay had a great game plan. No three point shooting (only attempted 5 the whole game) and attacking the basket. The 24 turnovers were their downfall. Silsbee getting that double digit lead in 2nd half then spreading the floor and isolating Harris and Miller, putting the ball in their hands exclusively, was a great move. Silsbee did not shoot the ball very well (5/19 three, 14/24 FT) but their defensive adjustment after the 1st quarter was big. HJ scored single digits in 2nd and 3rd quarters (8,9). I had a good feeling that HJ would play Silsbee really tough in this one. It's just that Silsbee is better and they have two super stars in Harris and Miller along with some very complimentary support. HJ just doesn't have that go to guard but they play so well as a team.

  3. Dotson has been solid for three years, but he’s been playing the best basketball of his high school career during these playoffs.

  7. The Hawks had the perfect game plan in this one. I had said in an earlier post to keep the game in the 50-60 point range and control the tempo to give themselves a shot, which they did. I think they won the battle of the boards. At the end of the day the 24 turnovers were the difference in this one and that’s a credit to Silsbee’s 3/4 court defense. Gotta tip your cap to both coaches last night. Clay did everything he could to give his group a chance and Sigler spreading the floor at the 5:00 minute mark of the 4th cemented the win. Good ballgame, great season Hawks and Good luck Tigers!!

  8. One thing that impresses me with this team than the previous two is how well BU has been on the defensive end this year! I thought the past two years that side of the ball was very hard to watch a lot of times, however it seems they’ve flipped a switch this year.

  20. Jackson and Bottley played just as well for Silsbee as anyone. I think HJ did a decent job keeping Miller and Harris in check.

  23. Was just a fantastic season for the Bobcats. They tied the deepest playoff run and were one win off tying the record for wins in a season (playing one less game than the team who has said record). I think if OF stays 3A, they will surpass both of those records in the next few years. I don’t think they will be quite as good next year with what they lost but the next two after that could be special. And they have some really good athletes in Jr High right now winning district championships. I would say the future is bright for Coach McDonald and company.

  26. No we lost 46-42. They scored with 17 secs left. We missed our next shot and fouled with 1.5secs left but he made both free throws.

  31. Great game by the Hawks…Not anything to take away from the way HJ played but from the games I have been able to see online or in person in the playoffs, the Tigers just arent quite playing like they are capable of. Just dont seem to be able to get on that roll yet. Hopefully we get there now because its going to take a lot more from here on out.

  33. It's been pretty nice playing only other small town teams so far. That's over though. Going to have to play even better to make it to state. I do like the way we played defense tonight.

  42. That actually brings me to another thought. With coaching/teaching being a govt job, should all hires be open to the public?

  43. I think many of the arguments against the EVs are that the technology is being forced upon us in the name of climate change and heavily subsidized by the federal government. Let the private sector drive the effort, not politicians that are making a killing by ramping up the so called green energy industry. I would much rather the likes of Elon Musk set the pace rather than politicians.
