  2. I think Clay had a great game plan. No three point shooting (only attempted 5 the whole game) and attacking the basket. The 24 turnovers were their downfall. Silsbee getting that double digit lead in 2nd half then spreading the floor and isolating Harris and Miller, putting the ball in their hands exclusively, was a great move. Silsbee did not shoot the ball very well (5/19 three, 14/24 FT) but their defensive adjustment after the 1st quarter was big. HJ scored single digits in 2nd and 3rd quarters (8,9). I had a good feeling that HJ would play Silsbee really tough in this one. It's just that Silsbee is better and they have two super stars in Harris and Miller along with some very complimentary support. HJ just doesn't have that go to guard but they play so well as a team.

  3. Dotson has been solid for three years, but he’s been playing the best basketball of his high school career during these playoffs.

  7. The Hawks had the perfect game plan in this one. I had said in an earlier post to keep the game in the 50-60 point range and control the tempo to give themselves a shot, which they did. I think they won the battle of the boards. At the end of the day the 24 turnovers were the difference in this one and that’s a credit to Silsbee’s 3/4 court defense. Gotta tip your cap to both coaches last night. Clay did everything he could to give his group a chance and Sigler spreading the floor at the 5:00 minute mark of the 4th cemented the win. Good ballgame, great season Hawks and Good luck Tigers!!

  8. One thing that impresses me with this team than the previous two is how well BU has been on the defensive end this year! I thought the past two years that side of the ball was very hard to watch a lot of times, however it seems they’ve flipped a switch this year.

  19. Because Lamar staff was taking the tickets, I highly doubt they counted. Don't want to be showed up by a high school game which sadly they did.

  27. I'm black but don't worry about Black History Month it has nothing to do with this game or race involved... These are 2 teams deserving to be where they are at now. (The predominantly black team won) But who cares and as I'm typing this now it's March 1st get over it and let's congratulate 2 teams that played their hearts out tonight and contrary to popular belief I was rooting for Orangefield because of our area not of race... No offense to you but we can't be one-sided about this game and like I said in my last post (the predominantly white team almost beat the black one). Let this one be about skill not race. Thank you and God bless.

  31. This was a well played game by BU. They didn’t get rattled when WB took the lead. Porchia played and was an impact. But that darn Yates. That kid is so gifted. I was really worried about this game due to familiarity. But BU stayed focused and took care of Business. We need to work on the silly turnovers, but other than that, this team has very few weaknesses.

  35. It's the Silsbee way. It'll drive you nuts sometimes though. Less so when a few of them start falling. If you're HJ, you'd better do everything you can to keep Silsbee from going up 10+ in the 3rd.

  41. That actually brings me to another thought. With coaching/teaching being a govt job, should all hires be open to the public?

  43. I think many of the arguments against the EVs are that the technology is being forced upon us in the name of climate change and heavily subsidized by the federal government. Let the private sector drive the effort, not politicians that are making a killing by ramping up the so called green energy industry. I would much rather the likes of Elon Musk set the pace rather than politicians.
