PNG Coaching Change?
ExSportMom and 2 others reacted to PN-G bamatex for a topic
With Crosby and Barbers Hill moving up next year per the UIL cutoff numbers released earlier today, I feel it necessary to reemphasize how important it is that we keep Coach Faircloth, especially given the amount of talent we have returning next year. We have a rare opportunity and a narrow window to be a state power, and I would not let it go to waste in this modern, suburban-centric climate.3 points -

Hearing that PNG and Nederland ISD are preparing to combine to form one school district. Admin building will remain in Port Neches and District name will stay PNG ISD. The school board will be expanded to 9 members with 5 dedicated to Port Neches & Groves residents and 4 dedicated to Nederland residents. The only allowed in-district transfers will be for athletes transferring from Nederland HS to PNG HS. All “star” athletes will be required to play for PNG. The new school district will split Nederland tax revenue among the whole district equally, but Port Neches and Groves tax revenue will remain with schools in the cities of PN and Groves. PN will be using the new tax revenue to build a massive Performing Arts center and new domed football stadium and practice facility. Hearing that Nederland will receive incentives from PNG board members to make all this happen including a restaurant, reduced rate rental equipment, advertising services, dental care, vip healthcare service, free bedtime stories, and a custom golf cart. Also, all midcounty madness games will be held at PNG. Sources say this is a done deal. Really solid sources. They heard it from the pool man of the dog groomer for the cousin of the workout partner of the college roommate of the ex-boyfriend of the daughter of the waiter at the favorite restaurant of the sister-in-law of the science teacher at the middle school of one of the board members best friend’s former co-workers brother’s daughter’s ex-bestfriend’s 3rd cousin’s pool man!2 points

PNG Coaching Change?
PN-G bamatex and one other reacted to AshlyHasBeen for a topic
He’s applied for other jobs in the past, which is pretty common. The last one being Lucas Lovejoy. That process was very public. He’s from Brownwood so moving to North Texas would’ve made sense. My only issue is we’re going on two weeks of people saying they have sources and know he is out. I’ve received messages saying he’s been forced out, been fired and been reassigned. I’ve even been told he notified the team. Yet he’s still there. Players haven’t been notified. Coaches haven’t been notified. People in the “know” have said it’s one guy. Then it became two. And I’ve been told around seven guys now. The story keeps changing. The superintendent says there are a bunch of bad rumors. Most coaches take time to consider their next step after the season. Just let it play out. Rumors aren’t helping anyone.2 points -

Crosby Coaches
Cougar14.2 and one other reacted to Coachbearoso for a topic
Lots of truth spoke here, coaching is like any other profession. 14 is correct in that 2 of the 3 good hires in Crosby were coordinators that came in with a new superintendent. New sup will VERY often hire someone new just for allegiance. This is no different in any profession. Years ago when GCM was getting ready to open, GCCISD athletic director went to Garland ISD to interview how they hired for a new football coach at a new school. Homer Jones, maybe Johnson was the most experienced AD, or one of the most experienced, in the state. He told Tom Ed that a new school needs to hire a successful, responsible, excitable coordinator. Many times superintendents will hire someone they know from their old district for loyalty and they are knowledgeable of their character. Sometimes there will be a true investigation with TRUE interviews, but rarely. VERY OFTEN THE SUP KNOWS THE HIRE BEFORE INTERVIEWS, or it could be someone an influential board member knows. The most important person in any football organization is the HEAD COACH, the second is the QUARTERBACK. Isn't high school playoff time great, not only football, but all sports. As far as head coaches, i BELIEVE the best head coaches have a background as a defensive coordinator (Saban and Bellicheck) becomes often offensive coordinators are PRETTY BOYS and have to run all their plays. Defensive coaches worry more about scoreboard. I have known some quality head coaches who have a background with offensive line, hogs are different beasts altogether. t2 points -

I’ll call the dogs off………. I won’t post again. Remember my thread in a few months. Make sure you get out and vote for school board elections when they come up. To all who have hit me up, thanks for the info. To all that think I’m full of poop, thank you!! I guess in the big scheme of things, once it shakes out, that’s when citizens can speak their true voice. My posts are to inform you as well as entertain you. But it’s also a valiant attempt to keep BF around for another year. In conclusion, I’m not a fan of BF, but I think the dude should get a fair shake until his kid is graduated. But in todays world, things are different. The cheerleading squad has almost as many members as the football team, and the co heads are equal to an entire offense. Maybe I need to jump on board with this new mentality, or stick to playing Tecmo Bowl… I just hope my season tickets are not revoked due to my banter…. If so, I will need to rely on you fellow Internet warriors to sneak me into a mid County madness game if possible…2 points

UIL Releases Cutoff Numbers for 2022
AshlyHasBeen reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
These are the “official” numbers right now. The UIL will revise them later. These were the official cutoff numbers per their initial release during the last realignment. You can see the “official” cutoff is 1,899 for 5A-D2. Once they revised the numbers the cutoff moved to 1,921. [Hidden Content]1 point -
Looks like the award winning successful Mr. Gonzales is doing a fine job for PNGISD, just like Mr. Faircloth is doing a fine job for png athletic dept. Nothing but respect for what Mr. Gonzales has accomplished making png a quality school system, it would be nice if NISD had more leaders half as good.1 point

Thats the way we play primarily and probably our best chance. As was seen tonight Yates ate us up in the half court saturday and tonight. Really just too much size for us, especially when you have two of the biggest ones with the talent of Yates and Arceneaux. It definitely wasnt the upset some Tiger fans were predicting and although it was a 30 point loss it wasnt the beat down it seemed like some were insinuating either.1 point

Appears Flannigan & Rio have talent where they’re at. So is it finding talent or simply being a really good Coach? Imo, a really good Coach will bring the talent out. Most schools that are losing have a lot of good talent, but they’re either not being used properly, or not playing at all. A new Coach comes in and has the charisma to get the kids back in football, plus knows how to utilize the talent he has, and voila, you got a winner. Jmo. You can play “Crosby’s the greatest” all you want, and they’re very good, but don’t never think Crosby is unique about having talent. Based on SC rings, based on your talent theory, Carthage must have the most talented kids in Texas. So where was this talent pool prior to Surratt’s arrival?1 point

Crosby Coaches
Coachbearoso reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
I knew what you were referring to as a "diamond". Just letting you know Coach Gaston's version of a diamond might be living on Lake Houston in Crosby vs living by the HL&P runoff on Lake Dutton in Beach City? Crosby's is always going to seem to get the better guy because we have more talent for X coach to win with. Coaches come to Crosby because they think they can win big and boost their standing in the coaching world. BH hires guys that already have a high standing but want a bigger payday, those type guys and the egos that come with them are not always the perfect fit at their new destinations. One thing that would make BH a a more favorable job than the money is the talent they're probably about to get once they build that new subdivision that's supposed to double Mont Belvieu's size when it's completed.1 point -

Both of those players have seen the field. I've seen one on Special teams, and his Dad isn't the type to do something petty like this. The other kid has seen the field also, on defense. Can't see his dad doing this either. Coach Faircloths own son doesn't see the field every play either. Sooooo, I don't know.....if he does leave, I'm going to miss those high octane offenses of his. PAM should scoop him up. Can you imagine what he could do with those athletes on offense.1 point
-
So interesting bit to consider. Flannigan proved the talent existed and that Crosby could be a winner. He was a disciplinarian when at Crosby and those guys tend to have a timer running until they upset someone enough to lose their jobs. Rio was brought in by a super who had ties to Sulphur Springs. Prieto was brought in by a super who had ties to Corpus Christi. So I guess the real trick is hirer a new super from an underutilized coaching area and let them bring their contacts to a Houston area talent pool. Also, to be clear Preito and Rio were coordinators when we hired them. We didn't try and go get Allens HC.1 point
