I am enjoying reading this thread. Have not been on SETX much since 2017 my oldest last year playing. Now that my youngest is playing I've been trying to get caught up. Must say, I have missed it!

What happened last year was special......... you should just stop there. That was a ridiculous run!! Doesnt matter how you get to state but just the fact you are in the game and everyone else is watching.

The Dawgs lost a close game to the strongest team in the district, I don't understand the desperation. Nederland will beat Dayton and Barbers Hill, Crosby is difficult, but doable. They will most likely finish in the 3 seed and roll into the playoffs. The #10 rank was not realistic, maybe that and losing to TC is what has many beside themselves, but they are still in good shape.

Favorites? I don’t know about that. We are just some slow bears still hibernating. It’s nice to see they are back to playing good football again. The last 20yrs has been pretty bad. Moody and Crouch were bad hires. We finally got a superintendent that has picked a good AD. I believe they are going in the right direction.

Crazy what you find out if you actually watch film. Surratt had an interview with the local paper and said the same thing. Now per the people not from Carthage they were missing 11 starters. Lol, after we smoke TC it will be 15 starter were missing from Carthage and the worst Manvel team ever that we got to play.

Again unless the kids are still out with Covid somebody lying. Looks to me like the starting RB and one OL is all they were missing.

Vidor is definitely a different beast in the second half, and mostly in the 4th quarter. Something the Pirates didn't have the past few seasons. If we can play 4 quarters of mistake free football tomorrow.... Pigs may fly in North Orange!

Absolutely. That’s why I never predict games and one of the biggest follies is trying to compare teams by what they did against a common or upcoming opponent. Many times it is meaningless.

Yes if any team was better than they are the could be leading the league. If Nederland had a QB they could be leading the district. They don't, BH doesn't have a good defense. You are what you are.

Vidor does have a very lopsided advantage over most opponents in the 4th Qtr.

It was a Carthage fan that started that myth and another Carthage poster corrected them later and stated it was only one offensive lineman. Some people are like the media and only report part of the story.

I think Davis has the best of shot of slowing it down. Our defense looks a lot better. Last year we couldn’t tackle a turtle. Offense scheme has improved. I think Vidor will be surprised and caught off guard like huffman was. They got the right kids in the right positions this year.

Knowing how to defend it and getting the kids to “stay at home” on D are two different animals. They all want to get in on the tackle so when the FB hits the middle you want your left side LB to stay out there. Then he sees the HB sweeping to the other side. He’s gotta move to get in on the stop. He takes off about the time the slot man gets the ball and runs thru the hole where the LB was. If Davis can keep the Bears in their dens, he’ll put a crimp in the Slot T. If the Bears D bites on the first three fakes, that fourth RB is going to gain a bunch of yards. Heck, about 30% of the time I’m watching the wrong RB 🤪. That’s why I love that offense.

Davis will be the difference maker he knows this offense backwards and forward , how to run it and how to defend it .

Just think if everyone did this….we d have a better America……because we the people do hold a power….but you have stand up stand your ground and be willing to sacrifice.

I’ll go with Big Ned on this one. Coach has got to find a way to put points on the scoreboard. He also needs to find someone who can consistently run the ball and not just the QB. Do we know who is “out” this week? Is #2?

UIL has waived the Friday night ban on video broadcasting for this season just like last year. Any school can video broadcast their games at home. Schools would have to get permission from the home team when they are the visiting team to video broadcast away games. Texan Live gets contracts from schools to buy the rights to video broadcast those schools games during regular season. Some schools prefer their own, some contract it out. Texan Live owns the rights to all playoff games, all classifications. They purchased those rights through the UIL. No school or any other video broadcast entity, can video broadcast a playoff game unless they receive written permission from Texan Live. Hope this helps you out.

No emotion for me I’m trying to think through this. I don’t think Crosby is as good as last year and I think the competition has went down. Carthage was a great game on paper , but COVID decimated their team and somehow they still snuck by. Manvel always looks good on paper, but they are not the Manvel of the past possibly going to be the 3 seed in their district. The only impressive win by Crosby this year was against PAM. Before all you girlfriends get on here and remind me that you beat BH, congrats we have the worst D in the district. Again Crosby should win this game, but I wouldn’t depend on last years fluke to be a main stay for Crosby.

Raiders are for real this year. I think they will edge out HH for the win. Defense will make the difference which ever team wins! Should be a great game.

HJ missed their chance at a state run last year, and won't have another realistic chance for quite some time. They were basically evenly matched with Huffman, but bombed out in the first round against BC. For the first time in a long time the 4A tournament played like the small town tourney it should be every year, and HJ had their best team for the better part of a decade. Combined with both Silsbee and Yates being way down, HJ should've been about 50/50 with Huffman to go to state. This area will be running through silsbee again for the next several years. They should have a very interesting competition for district this year between HH/HF/HJ. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of 2-loss teams tie for district champs.

Appears Vidor, WOS, OF & LCM need to get a contract with TL. I admit I had no idea at all the criteria for what games are on & what aren’t. Anyway, two good games for OC Friday.

Last year can work two ways. Remember last year when BH scores 7 on y’all and you completely shut us out? This year we drop 600 + yards of offense on ya. Stay in the present this isn’t last years TC they have made good progress this year.TC allowing Ned only a Safety isn’t because Ned sucks it’s because TC defense has a good. They have good corners and a line to deal with the run.I hope Crosby wins by 50, but in reality I think the score will be around 28-14.

I don't think this group at Silsbee will be deeper than that 2017 team. That 2017 team actually had 9 players that went on to play either football or basketball at the next level. They were truly 12-13 deep. I'm just going off what area coaches have told me what they think about this group. All have stated that outside of Harris and Miller, there is no Adams, Bush or McCain. But they believe that both Harris and Miller can be those type stars if not already there. They also said this group is much deeper than what Adams, Bush and McCain had there junior and senior seasons. This talk is widely based on what these coaches saw in middle school. Silsbee had several weapons with this current group and not like when Adams and McCain were middle schoolers. I'll just say this, based on what I have saw and what others have told me, I will be very disappointed if this particular group doesn't at least make a state championship game appearance during these next 3 years. I honestly think they are primed to win another state championship. Maybe not this year, but in next three for sure.

Jerry Springer comes back from retirement to shoot a special on district 10-4A. The paternity tests concluded that LC-M was in fact 99.9% the districts daddy.

I keep seeing posts of “deeper than championship teams”, I love the depth and makeup of this current team and what they will accomplish is yet to be seen. However they will have a hard time truly being deeper than that first championship team. That team had two legit starting fives and a player or two still on the bench.
