  2. Doesn't the whole team get punished when there is a holding call, offsides, personal foul, block in the back, etc.? Also, doesn't the whole team get punished when a player is found to be ineligible and the team has to forfeit games?

  3. I'm reading on Smoaky where this scumbag assaulted a Soccer Official LAST year.......he should never have been allowed to play any sport again, so YES, punish the school as well.........

  4. Yes punish the school number 1 it’s a TEAM sport they could have stopped him but didn’t. Number 2 like previously put he did it a soccer match last year and turn around and did it again. Obviously he has anger issues or any issues that you listed above that are greater than sports... get him the help he needs before returning onto a field. Obviously they neglected that once already. So I agree punish the school entirely. Fire the coach. Send out a message. UIL better if they want to keep referees and recruit more because there is already a shortage in the state and this incident won’t help them out any if the punishment is light.

  5. The site reached 2 million posts yesterday. I realize that in a couple of our reboots and software changes we lost some posts (thousands to be exact). But the official number of posts has now exceeded 2 million. Just thought some would find this interesting.

  7. I’m no mathematician. But I think if you took the smallest 5A (1230 students per this graphic from the UIL) and combined it with another small 5A. You would have at least 2460 kids.. which appears to be above the 2220 threshold for 6A schools.

  8. In dome years ago a team playing wos could not punch it in. The qb comes to line and makespoint of counting players. He motions to coach is one short. Coach hasplayer standing beside him with helment off.He slaps player in head to get out there. He lines up at reciever and looks confused.Qb goes overto tell him play and then all get set .You are waiting for delay of game to becalled. ball is hiked to rb who takes off in otherdirection.

  9. Let's get this straight about my post. I am not for punishing the entire team because of one players actions. I threw that statement out how a team actually does get punished because of one players actions. Just giving a point of view which I really don't agree with. BTW, the young man has been charged with assault.

  13. 2nd Place would be GCM's highest finish in football. The 2008 team finished 3rd after winning the final four games. (Lost to Central 7-0 in Bi-district) If (and when) they win a playoff game, historic. Happy for the program and Happy for Coach Carter and his staff.

  14. If they really want to fix this, the UIL would punish the school for this kids actions. Forfeit a game, forfeit the season, monetary fine, whatever it takes to ensure coaches address this behavior way before there is an opportunity for this to happen. You shouldn't have to tell a kid not to attack a referee, (or anyone for that matter) but in 2020 things like common decency are not at the forefront of how people parent. Kids who didn't have consequences growing up are parenting kids who do not get consequences due to their parents and it's a damn shame. The only way to prevent it is to make sure the schools know they will suffer greatly if it happens, and force them to make it a part of their programs to ensure this never happens at their school. This is the second recent incident of this nature that I can remember, and it should be made to be the last.

  15. It appears the coaching mentality is watch the guy in front of you and see what he does. Not a real good strategy. I hate to talk bad about a coach, but numbers do not lie. And changing scheme and players week in and week out isn’t advantageous. Hell maybe we should put em in goal line defense every play. One would assume a New DC would be in order. Next year will be a super struggle. Lack of offense, to go with our defense, spells.. Heartache. IMO a QB needs to be found. If not, it will be a long season next year. On the bright side, we beat Nederland!!!!!!

  18. Sadly there is good athletes on the defensive side for Png. If a team comes out running 4or 5 plays over and over and you don’t adjust to stop those said plays, well they keep running those same plays. The kids are lining up where they are told to. So where’s the problem lie now. I’ll give you 3 guesses.

  19. Roschon was clearly the most visible and profound difference when he was on the field for us (because even just one athlete like him can make all the difference), but it was also three years of the defense being pretty good. In 2018 the defense was probably the closest to having a good defense we’ve had in more than a decade.

  20. Even a great QB can’t do it all. Football is still a team sport. Based on the ā€œPoints Againstā€, I don’t think Bost is the problem. Even Roschon would have trouble winning when opponents are throwing up big points on you. Just an outsider’s opinion.

  29. Good for them. Now, do you feel bad for the rest of the team, of course you do, but one of your own caused this and the coach allowed it to happen by allowing the him to play. What's worse is it all could have been avoided if the coach that walked him off the field would have simply escorted him to the lockerroom immediately.

  30. I just hope he gets help before he creates bigger problems for himself. He's already going to deal with repercussions from this for years that he never even thought about.

  31. They're not messing around. I feel bad for the rest of the team, but a precedent and deterrent needs to be set so that stuff like this is talked about with athletes and it doesn't happen again without major consequences.

  33. No one knows the details of the first incident other than the article circulating that says the student was involved in a similar incident during soccer. That’s it. That’s all anyone has heard. No one knows the actual severity. If the first incident was as similar as the recent incident, I imagine the coach removed the kid from the soccer program and the kid served a suspension. I imagine the kid was put on a growth plan to help the kid grow and get a second chance. I would like to believe the coach has felt the kid, up until this point, has obeyed and shown growth since the first incident. It is very clear the kid did not value and has ruined his second chance. The coach approached the situation with the mindset that he would like to put the kid in a situation where he had an opportunity to learn from his first mistake. I know in today’s world people do not like to offer second chances, but I believe that is probably what happened in this situation. I have seen second chances work, where a kid returns to a program and becomes a model citizen. Which it seems a second chance is what this kid received. I have also seen students be kicked out of an extracurricular program and go down a path of crime, incarceration, or even death due to the lack of organization and discipline a sports program may offer. It’s a two way street. The coach gave the kid a second chance, the kid screwed it up. To me that’s the situation. Now I have a major problem if the second chance was warranted due to his major role on the team instead of the betterment of a kid.

  34. Horrible incident. Kid should be jailed. Kid should be expelled and removed from school. Players and coaches should not be punished because of the barbaric behavior of another 18 year old kid. Truly selfish and idiotic behavior of one student will be a stain on the school and it’s programs for a long time.

  35. Shea Adams, Freshman QB this year is great. This group of Freshman boys are big, strong & fast. Offense will be OK. Let's get a new Defensive Coordinator on Varsity, then at least some adjustments will be made when defense can't stop another team's offense & the defensive boys will be coached on defense properly. Not just position, but reaction.

  36. I saw the 360 attempt. But he was coming out even before that attempt. I think he just wanted to do it before hitting the bench. You’re right. Green didn’t say anything. Matter of fact, Green gave him a fist bump As he walked by to sit down...

  37. We can all talk about what, will, should, could, might, probably, happen...at the end of the day, NONE of our thoughts, opinions, suggestions, or predictions, matter whatsoevever. 11 teenage boys will line up against the other 11 teenage boys, and they will determine the outcome. I will die on this hill, with the statement I am about to make. Coach Shannon Carter and his staff at GCM, deserve one helluva ā€œattaboyā€ for the coaching job they have done with this group. Since back to back losses against PAM/REL, the patriots have won 4 in a row, and have trailed from the beginning in all of them. The halftime adjustments that this staff has made/put together, is second to none. Tonight, United’s defense was magnificent in the first half, the only first down GCM had, was via penalty. In the second half, that same defense/coaching staff was overwhelmed, outmatched, and flat out whooped, for 24 points in the 3rd qtr alone. Congrats to the Patriots, and good luck to our fellow district mates, representing 9-5A in the Division 1 UIL State Playoffs.

I must admit, I’m not sure yet. Having been in the Army, and in a unit (allegedly) ready to move anywhere in the world in 48 hours, I’ve had plenty of shots. We had shots for tropical diseases to polar bear indigestion. Still take yearly flu shot, but this is a different animal. Here’s my problem. According to Harvard Med, almost a third of positive Covid test are false. I’m having trouble getting comfortable with a shot that’s suppose to keep me safe from a disease we can’t even make a sure-fire test for. On the plus side, I’m 75 & have underlying conditions, so I’m high risk. I’ll probably take it though, if all the Med folks don’t fall over dead šŸ˜‚

  43. The VYPE commentators know absolutely NOTHING about these teams... 1. This is not a neutral field for both teams... 2. These kids didn't grow up playing little league football together... Watching the game live on VYPE but muted their sound and listening to Mike Sanchez even though there is a slight delay.
