HH has Splendora this week. Not sure about HH, but to Splendora, this is a grudge match. Then HH ends with Vidor & Livingston. Their 3 toughest games. It’s going to be interesting the next 2 and a half weeks.

I’m thankful to the Vidor fans for coming out strong this season to support our Seniors. Even if it is only on the board here, it’s my last to be heavily involved. We won’t be nearly as invested next year but I will always follow the Pirates. I was coached by Jeff Mathews in his first year as head coach and now he leads my son’s last season. I still think Vidor will win this game and finish the season strong. We had a huge letdown against Splendora that never should have happened but I think you will see something special build for us the rest of the way. I don't like making score predictions for my own teams for some odd reason like it's a bad omen...lol but I feel that if the Pirates can move the ball, limit mistakes and turnovers, this is their game to win. The defense will hold its own barring injuries coming into the game. But I like our chances even though Livingston is gonna come in with a target on our back and they aren't gonna back down.

Incorrect. I know for a fact that EC has only 1 player that moved from Beaumont to Winnie this past spring that is playing for EC. That came straight from the top. Need to get your facts straight.

Carthage vs WO-S is for the state title this year. Winner of that game wins it all. I know I should be humble and say “any given Friday”, but let’s just be real. Carthage has steam rolled basically the top 5 in DII with the exception of WO-S. If any team is going to keep Carthage from dropping down and dominating DII it’s gonna be up to the Mustangs to do it. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Everybody has a ton of respect for WO-S and fans have followed them closely over the years, especially on that run from 2014-2017. Always liked watching them play. We have some history from 2013. That was a hell of a game, and TBH that was for the state title. That was the best team Carthage saw in the playoffs that year. And then the next 4 years WO-S went and played in the state championship game. But if and when that game happens, it’s going to be a defensive battle. I know WO-S is known for their D, but Carthage has had arguably the best D in the state 3 out of the last 4 years. It’s just that they don’t get as much credit because of Surratt’s offense. I think it will be a fairly low scoring game.

I just hope the Rebels can live with playing at home after getting to play on "the best grass field in America" last week. 🤣

Welp, if there is a weakness in the Carthage offense Coach T. has had time to figure it out, and so will Carthage’s coach if there is such a game. Any team could lose on a Friday night. Both teams could lose before the 4th round. I see some deficits that both teams have and I’m not a coach. I will never say until if the day comes that these two teams play LOL. Right now, I want a victory in Liberty on Friday Night. A big win, I usually never say that I want my team to put a beat down on another team. Liberty with the smack that their coaches and fans talked last year about our coaches and players left a nasty taste in my wine glass. LOL. So yes, play hard, be confident, and get the win Mustangs.

The first 2 years in the same district Kirbyville did beat them but it’s hard to compete with a school with no boundaries. It happens here also. Bleak wood, trout creek and old Salem are all 3 closer to kirbyville but yet in Newton school district.

I think this is the way it's going to be. Everything leading up to the kick off will be different because of the virus. Everything after kick off will be as close to normal as it can be. It will be a hard fought game with ecstatic fans on both sides.

Jacksonville is awful and won't win a game this year I'll give you that. Lufkin is a better team than people think.

The Jasper job isn't for everybody. Expectations are the same there as they are at Newton and West Orange even though we don't have skins on the wall like those schools do. There was a lot of turnover for about 15 years in between Walkoviak and Barbay. I don't know entirely what those situations were, so I can't speak on that. I think we're fortunate to have Barbay, though, because he and his family seem to like living in Jasper. We win at almost the same rate that we did under Walkoviak and I think we'll eventually win a title under him if he stays long enough and adjusts his philosophy enough to rally in games like the one we played against Carthage. I'm not a coach at all, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I just want us to win like everybody else that has ties to the program.

JD wasn't the QB then. He was the jv QB when they played Carthage. Dillon Sterling Cole and chase Rutledge was the QB. JD took over the next year after dillion left for Westfield.

I graduated in 99 and remember the not so good teams. Mathews has put his heart and soul in to this program and these kids.

I got to tell you! Reading these discussions everyday is one of the highlights of my day! Now that sad fact aside. I am taking Vidor in this one just as I said earlier in the week 26-21. We miss two extra points and still win. Just like Nostradamus and most of these far-fetched predictions I made this scenario up totally in my head!

WOS played well in defeat. If I remember Carthage went for something like 4th and 12 inside their own 20 and made it. Big play in the game. Great team and went on to win championship. This was in the WOS run from 2012-17 went it took the state champion to end the Mustangs season.

BH wins 3-0. S1 - 25 - 6 S2 - 25-12 S3 - 25-15 BH is now 11-3 on the season (5-0) in district. Next game vs Huffman.

WOS too busy thinking about Liberty and they AIN'T got time for nothing else. Are the Mustang's the real deal time will tell? The defense is much quicker than the 15-16 team imo. Big boys on defense from opposing teams will tire quickly running after our backs we do have enough to go around..

West Orange has to play Carthage eventually. THAT will be a game, one I’m sure people have wanted to see for years. But I don’t see West Orange’s [name redacted] Defense holding Carthage out of the end zone enough to win.

Welcome to Lumberton. After 1/2 time the stands cleared. Probably a 1/3 of the stadium (band parents) got up and left. I get it. They want to see their kids perform just like I would, but have a little respect and community pride. A few weeks ago, the band was set to perform after the game. The players and cheerleaders were held hostage and made to sit and watch the band before they could leave the field. It was disgusting. Not the performance, the band is good. But the fact that the band parents (not all, but many) cried and whined and complained that they didn’t get any support from the athletic department. Stupid. The band is a part of the game, and I enjoy them. But when the FOOTBALL GAME is over, the kids who’ve been playing all night, bruised and banged up, hungry and ready for a shower shouldn’t be held hostage. And if the football parents, players, cheerleaders are forced to stay and watch the band, isn’t that just false support and a lie anyway? I wonder if after the next band competition, the band members will be forced to watch the football team run some plays or lift weights. Pure crap.
