PNG fans after they lose Friday

Trying to follow all those different scenarios has given me headache. WOS is the only undefeated team left in district play. The last home game, and it's for the outright district championship. That's all that need to be said.

If Bridge City and Lumberton win on Friday, then Bridge City would get the final spot regardless of the margin. If Bridge City wins and Lumberton loses, then that would create a 3 way tie for the 3rd and 4th spots between Bridge City, Lumberton and Splendora at 2-3. The first tiebreaker would be head to head amongst the tied teams. A Bridge City win would give the three teams a 1-1 record against each other. Then the tiebreaker goes to positive points (the combined margins of victory/defeat in the games among the tied team. Lumberton currently has a positive point total of +8 (29-0 win over Bridge City, but the margin of victory for figuring positive points in 11-4A-I is capped at 15; 7 point loss to Splendora. Splendora currently has a positive point total of +7 (7 point win over Lumberton). Bridge City has positive point total of -15 (29 point loss to Lumberton capped at 15). An 11 point win by Bridge City would have BC and Splendora having a positive point total of -4 with Bridge City having the head to head. Congratulations, Cardinal fans! Just when you think you had no other reason to root against LC-M, you were just gifted one.

Who can clinch what this week: West Orange-Stark can clinch the #1 seed with a win or a loss of less than 7 to Hamshire-Fannett. Hamshire-Fannett can clinch a #1 seed with a win of more than 7 over West Orange-Stark. Silsbee can clinch the #2 seed with a Hamshire-Fannett loss or with a West Orange-Stark loss or more than 10.

It looks like Nate is getting his passing game together which means Newton will be much harder to beat going forward. The running game has always been there, as has the strong defense. I don't do score predictions since it is so arbitrary anyway, but Newton will win this game going away, and start preparing for their next opponent. By the way, I just finished the book between the white lines by Dave Burchett. I highly recommend it. It's about a tough man and a great coach - W.T. Johnston. You can probably pick up a copy from the Newton County Historical Commission 213 E Court st. Newton Texas 75966. Part of the profits go to the W.T. Johnston Scholarship Fund in Newton Texas. After reading it I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at spending eleven years in that community, and a close friendship with Coach Barbay. I still have some dear friends there. No hurt feelings here but I have been to every game and I have seen the dropped passes, bad passes and holding onto the ball too long.... It’s a team effort and they all need to do their part. I hope our entire TEAM has a great game and gets the win in an injury free game Friday night! Go Indians!

Looks like we will not be getting as much rain as Nederland hoped for. Time to call in the NFD to save the day. This might be blasphemy from a PN-G fan but I like the atmosphere at Nederland stadium even if their stands were built for only a 105 pound soccer mom to sit in.

Just made a call to check it out and from what I was told they were all at Media day as of yesterday so if kids did transfer it was'nt the basketball players..

Wanted to clarify on the PNG - BH situation... We think both will split games but PNG wins on coin flip and we project they will get the 1 seed come playoff time. It may look weird at first but in detail, it makes sense. Also, Kirbyville typo is fixed lol.

I will say something on this...yes sponsors paid for this with the push of the booster club. We attempted to start a basketball booster club a or so before the first state championship. We elected a board and had a few members but could not get the needed support from enough fans or parents to function. The founders of the booster club did get a new scorers table purchased by a sponsor. And I believe the same sponsor has purchased a scoreboard not long ago. I think it is a shame there hasnt been enough support to put up the recognition that the Tiger basketball team deserves. One problem is the number of participants, a whole lot more football players than basketball. Its a shame at times to see the support basketball has got from the community through the years. Basketball has been the sport that has shown the most consistent success through the years yet generally you have seen little support in the stands until a big game or the playoffs.

That has been tried but ran into too much trouble getting the signs. They have to be approved by the highway department and some other issues. I know something else is being worked on but am not at liberty to say anything.

But...It's hindering....and unfortunate.

School district did not pay for it. Sponsors paid for it. Basketball fam wants school district to pay for such things. Majority of Tiger fans like it. You always have certain few who think their kids (sport) gets the short end of the stick. But, I do wish the city/school had something other than the two banners in gym repping the state champions.

From what I’ve heard a lot of Silsbee fans/citizens think it was over kill. Especially your 2x state basketball fam.

Nothing questionable. He in a nice way said, it’s unfortunate that Nederland has the worst facilities in the district and one of the 20 in the state with a sloppy field.. It is no secret!!! Old timers in the city call it an advantage because they can’t pass bonds. But the real world knows the truth. So I have no problems with his comments. Call it like you see it. Throw some powder on it and try and clean the place up a little...

Are you at the games to see what is happening on the field? Our receivers may not be perfect but you can’t put all of the blame on them. Acting like the QB is perfect and the receivers are the only problem is just ridiculous.

Please remember that this is a high school football game, not a pansy powder party. Time before last our PNG student section brought powder to the game at Nederland. The wind was blowing it right at the stands. My wife, and the woman next to me had to leave, as well as their husbands, because the ladies had a severe asthma attack from the powder residue. Baby powder is for babies. Keep it at home, and try yelling for your team, not making your own fans sick. Oh yeah, let's keep the fireworks & flares away as well. Is this statement I am making here common sense, gosh I hope so! If not, the immaturity has surely overtaken the sanity at our high school. For those who say "...these are just kids having fun..." then I say that the immaturity has moved to those adults, and parents who tolerate this behavior. NOW LETS PLAY FOOTBALL!!!

Waggoner didn't stay at 1 school for almost 20 yrs and win state titles by accident, his method works. You may be surprised next week. Those are the same kids the other guy had and someHOWE couldn't get it done. I'm gonna say HF in a close one this year!!!
