  2. He could lead them to a 30pt win tonight and they would still call for his job.

  3. Won’t humble me because it wouldnt surprise me. I will support And root for my team, but let’s be honest; Silsbee has much better athletes. If people can’t see that they are either blind, or choose not to see it so they can come on here after and call for Coach Babin’s job. Watch and see...

  4. I think the situation is only gonna get worse. Too much disrespect from parents and players. They already weren’t doing it for the money... once you take away the enjoyment there’s not much reason to officiate.

  5. Yeah Alvin’s new stadium does that also, adds to the environment. I’m excited for United, happy for them. Big fan and friend of play caller Coach Bevil. I think the program has BIG potential, would love to help there one day. Just gotta get better each week and hope no more disruption, flood, hurricane etc.

  7. Not just for athletic purposes, but we have get our kids back in school so they can get back on their normal routine...

  8. I’ve always been a big believer in a system, or a rhythm. It has happens to us. The Jasper kids weren’t in the normal routine in game day, plus it was a completely different team they were facing than scouted. That all equals an off game. I’m not blaming the loss solely on that, however, it sure didn’t help. Jasper will be fine.

  9. Through three games Ijenea Woosley has 12 tds and 0 picks, he’s completing right at 70% of his passes while averaging almost 10ypc. He’ll probably be the district MVP this year. Including Woosley, Lee has three kids that are averaging over 9ypc. I don’t think Lee is the favorite in this game but I don’t think it’s really an upset if they beat PNG this year.

  11. Even if they lose to NC, 7-3 ain't bad considering what they lost from last year, current injuries, and a sophomore which may be trying to do too much

  12. The BU staff has been assigned to different campuses throughout the district so picking kids up is out of the question. Every Coach have to be at a middle school or even WB at 815am and they cant leave until 415 initially but i think its getting changed. The whole thing about that is, WB is getting certified teachers to aide their classroom for the next few weeks and our kids are at home doing nothing. Said that to say this, no one looks at the big picture!!! People can say what they want, athletics are very important at school. Successful athletic programs are even better because the students want to be successful in academics as well. why not highlight the week with academic competition as well, debate, robotics, and anything else. That's how you improve your district, just like we should have had a split day at WB, meaning the WB students go to school for the AM/PM shift than United students come the other shift. GP and Summer Creek did it. There are always better options but its a sports forum so sorry for rambling but i think the community needs to know stuff like this. There are other options. Coaches already pick kids up, i just feel every coach that has CDL should be able to pick kids up and drop them off because if school was in session they would have transportation!!!

Well, I am a numbers guy... 11 is approximately 57% more than 7. 57% is more than 1/2 (do you see where I'm going with this?) That is lopsided!... I don't wanna hear that same ole whiny crap about "they suit up more than...blah, blah, blah....vomit". If you need to suit up more kids then that's your school's/community's/coach's/parents'/kids fault. Get more kids to play sports - football in particular. Newton plays about as good a ball as anyone in this area - wouldn't you agree? They beat Silsbee by 3 scores. They beat WO-S. Do you think Newton uses that sickening excuse of being a smaller school or not suiting up as many kids? No! The difference is they refuse to accept mediocrity like LC-M does (among many other programs - not singling LC-M out). Winning is a culture. It's not something that happens by chance. Since this is just a Sub-Varsity thread, I will save my "Winning is a Culture" soliloquy for another time... Meanwhile, please realize that with comments like "11-7...(is) really NOT lopsided..." is proof positive that you're complacent with mediocrity. You're actually trying to say that 11 losses and 7 wins ain't that bad...disgusting. I'm sorry, but it is vulgar in my eyes to accept mediocrity.

  16. This game was pretty interesting. I don't know if this was a combination of a trap game or the limited practice due to the floods last week, but.. We played about as how I expected. We were rusty on both sides of the ball. Matter of fact, the defense looked lackluster on Sterling's scoring drive. Shortly after that, whatever funk the Defense was in, they came alive and Looked like their regular selves. Offense? Not so much. Penalties galore, penalties, guys taking sacks and not throwing the ball away, ect. No matter what, we got through with No injuries and without showing too much, knowing that West Brook and Channelview Coaching staffs were there to scout us. This is like the 2nd game in the row we've left points on the field. I preached about this last week. Also, dumb penalties on offense. You seen that here as well. If we don't get this together.... Brook is the best opponent that we will have faced thus far. If our offense don't get their arses in gear, We'll get beat down next week, no exaggerating. On the Bright side, There was a first at this game. I've been going to HS football games for a long time, and I've never seen the Visitor band play and the home stadium's lights flickered on and off to the beat of the band. Pretty cool, Baytown. PS. Probably for @Alpha Wolf . I didn't see Eaglin play, but I kept seeing the Comeaux kid running the ball. What's up with Eaglin?

  17. I agree, I was at the game through three and a half quarters and agree. Most were point of attack holds by receivers locking on to rangers defensive backs ( United receivers were manhandling the ranger defense back, just need to learn to let go)and when the rangers tried to separate you could see jerseys being tugged and pulled. That is an easy call cause it is so obvious and most of the time two flags were thrown because two refs saw it. United needs to clean that up because that is the difference in a close game and can be the difference in making the state playoffs . I sat on the United side and heard several fans get upset but the crew did a good job calling. I was impressed with the size and speed of United. I thought they looked like a team that was displaced for a week and have gone through quit bit of trauma. I thought the coaching staff prepared the team as well as can be expected. I wish the defense played a little more physical. One bad series cost them a shutout, in fact on the quarterback for Sterling big run, the edge responsibility, either Sam linebacker or end bit on the dive fake which allowed the qb to run free. Assignment has to be carried out by everyone to have a great defense. But I’m being picky in pointing that out. Defense line looks good and potentially great. Mike lb is rangy and fills well. Secondary did fine in basic cover 2, was hoping to see some stem looks from 2 to man or 3. Offensively timing was off because of previous week. I thought QB missed a couple of obvious throws, just st holding it too long, again game time speed threw United off. They will improve by next week I’m sure. A criticism though for running backs and quarterback in running, too much east and west running instead of sticking it and running north and south. This team will definitely contend for 3-4 in district with King, Laporte and channelview. And who knows in their rival game with Brook ( too bad it’s next week cause an experienced team like Brook isn’t affected by extraneous variables like inexperienced teams) where records are often thrown out due to emotions. First time seeing United play and very pleased with progress in only year 2. Sorry friends r long reply, just the coach in me. Then Sterling, just don’t see much potential there, not picking on them but I see them going winless in district. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.

  18. I personally don't care if we win 3 to 2 every game as long as we get the win. The defense showed a little bite tonight, they at least tried to hit something tonight instead of trying to hug their grandma. Inexperience at the QB position is holding them back right now, I hope the light comes on, but Ned dropped a TD, a bad fumble call on the 8 yardline, my son gets stripped at the 50, and a blown coverage for a td. This could have easily been a 49-0 game.

  21. I think its more of what WE DONT HAVE this year is what scaring me and i think buddy sees the same thing i saw looong before the first kickoff at DP. THE OFFENSE CANT MOVE THE BALL. at this point, i don't think neither QB going to matter. its disturbing when dayton drummed up GP 51-7 and united played a close one with Sterling and blew us out.(maybe the flood was on their minds?)

  25. No humility needed. I have a ton of respect for Silsbee and I know that the results of their games against PNG and Nederland were no accident. They are big, strong, fast and physical. We will have our hands full and then some. It will be a great measuring stick for us going into our bye week before starting district. There is a LOT we don't know yet and tonight will help us learn those things. Good luck to both teams.

  26. Smashmouth is a little too big to fit into any lockers, even way, way back then. Ok, I'll admit I'm not always "responsible" with my predictions. I'll try harder now that I know how important that is on this forum. Zamean and Mason were big losses, no doubt. But I think the Raider defense will be OK given the change in personnel from last year to this year. I "think" our corners and safeties are better at this moment than they were at this time last year. I don't remember Smash's other bullet but I'm certain it was profound and worth re-reading, for someone else of course. I should point out that the guesses and predictions that I made earlier and am making now are not based on Smash's level of research, film study, and examination of mounds of empirical evidence available on 16-18 yr olds in Lumberton and/or Silsbee. I predict that Silsbee will break a couple of long runs and we won't catch them. They may even complete a short pass that turns into a long TD for the same reason. I also think the Raiders will pop a few long runs resulting in TDs. We have a few kids that can go at the RB position (fast enough to outrun Silsbee in the 100m last year). I predict this game will be decided by which line blocks the best and more importantly, which defense tackles the best.

  31. My take from the game last night is...Defense actually looked a little better other than the blown coverage which was simply the DB peeking in the backfield. Neal moving to safety looked like a good move, linebackers are still...EH!!!! Offensively, the O-Line can't sustain blocks, and they just come out there with no life. If they lose to GCM next week, it will be hard in my opinion to make the playoffs. I think they will win though. BTW, when they started playing the umbrella song as I was walking out, I was thinking to myself, is this a time to play it lmao!

  35. 100% agree with everything you said. I see potential here, will have hiccups but it is on the right path. I can’t tell you how much gas I used picking up players to practice. United coaches need to load up their cars and get them to practice. Treat it as your only chance for glory. My favorite quote , “live for the moments to do for”, United gets that moment next week. Best of luck👍✝️🐻

Disappointed in the chatter on this one. Took me 3 days to get signed back in just to talk about it. I had one of the young Bucks over tonight to help me with some hunting stuff. Very excited. He says they ready and up for the challenge. This going to be a slobber knocker. Our defense is legit. See y'all tomorrow night.

  43. Hunt has played both ways (mostly defense) since the week after we played you guys early last season. I guess the coaches are pretty confident that the other backs can do enough on offense to keep things going...and most of the time that's true. We need Hunt in the games against the better defenses because of his ability to make huge plays and it hurt not having him last week. It's too early to worry about it too much. If a couple of unfortunate breaks go our way last week, we're not talking about this...but it is what it is. Hopefully, we can clean up penalties and turnover issues this week and feel good about things going into the WOS game. We'll see.
