They absolutely should have beaten Cuero. An awful no-call on a big completion by Cuero when the QBs knee touched the ground. Silsbee was better, just didn’t go their way. Carthage would have killed them in state, but it would have been awesome to get to go.

That game had me convinced WOS was back. They played us so hard, and we barely tied it up in time.

It speaks to the quality of coach Neumann was. When Joseph started playing guys both ways, it was immediately clear what a difference it made. Seemed almost too obvious. We should have been doing it all these years. Few, if any, high school teams have the depth to have exclusive specialists. It’s arrogance to assume you’re so good you only need to use your best tools some of the time.

I’ve seen the theory that he’s playing hurt gaining some traction on the internet. I’ll admit that I didn’t pay a lot of attention to his mechanics last year, but I don’t remember him doing all of the weird sidearm throws that he’s been making. I never fully bought into the hype, but I still thought (and still think) he’ll be a solid qb for them, but I was never in favor of benching Ewers for him, and would gladly trade him for another year of Ewers this season.

I highly doubt that… varsity has the weapons. There is some out of position, and not being utilized. Nederland is to small in numbers for kids to specialize on one side of the ball. Time to mix some kids up on both sides of the ball… we are seeing what faircloth did at PNG years ago and kids specialize on one side of the ball. Will never work in Nederland or PNG. Play the best 11… Neumann did it And his success speaks volumes
