  2. Need to give a lot of props to Huntsville. I thought we would struggle with their run game, but grossly underestimated how good they actually are. My assessment of Huntsville after Cedar Park was they're really fast but blocking and tackling are far below the standard Southern established. I think I was right about that three weeks ago, but both improved very, very much since Cedar Park. I'm convinced that Huntsville is better than they were in the last two years, and are a legit danger to everyone in Region 3. I was extremely pleased with PNG's turnaround in the 2nd half, and I think the defense learned vital lessons about how to deal with such a competent, athletic offense. But, I hope we look at this as a close win. The most important play of the game was the missed field goal. Some could argue that Hville should have gone for it on 4th and 1, but I think going for the FG was the right decision. You have a chance to maybe get stuffed on 4th and give momentum back to PNG, or you have a chance to get 3 points and make it where even if PNG scored 14 unanswered they would have only tied the game. So, Moebes was right to take the field goal. But, with the missed field goal, it changed the entire schedule for Hville when PNG got to 24. Instead of being tied, they were playing from behind. Then, when we scored another TD they weren't simply down by 7, they were down by 10 (actually down by 12, but I'm discounting the safety for this analysis). Their margin of error got smaller, real fast. My point is, PNG should think of this game as we won by a field goal (second year in a row that this game came down largely to a missed field goal). HVille could have been so much more patient for a lot longer in the game with those three points on the board. This game was also a testament to the importance of keeping the ball out of your opponent's hands. PNG dominated time of possession in the 2nd half, especially in the 3rd quarter. We held the ball for long drives, played with patience, and limited their opportunities. In the end, the whole second half turned on about four or five total plays where we stuffed them or got a sack. If we had given them more opportunities, who knows what would have happened? In other words, our defensive success in the 2nd half had as much to do with our adjustments as it did with not giving them more plays. And, Hville was figuring it out -- That TD at the end wasn't a fluke. They hadn't tried that misdirect the whole 2nd half. The problem with that play is our whole defense has to commit to charging the running lane to stop the play if they run to the far side -- When they reverse the field, we don't have anyone there. If they had more chances to try that, it's a different ball game. Summary: Ecstatic with PNG's defense, play calling, and overall level of play. But after last week I consider Huntsville an extremely reasonable contender for regional champion. They are MUCH better than last year. If it works out that PNG and Huntsville meet in the playoffs it's a 50/50 game and Hville has all the weapons to be terrifying. The only big weakness I see right now is the Huntsville tackling. I'm still not sure how much of our run success was due to us being good or Hville still needing work in the tackling game. If that improves, watch out. Good game, Hornets.
  3. District 10-3A games this week East Chambers at Anahuac Orangefield at Coldspring Buna at Hardin Kirbyville - BYE
  4. I don't know how you come up with your claim about me being right about nothing but I definitely wouldn't mind not being right about this game. Fact is most who know about these 2 teams had Newton as the favorite from the beginning and with the defense not being up to par this year (partially cause the coaching staff is not playing the best players) that makes our chances of winning this game even slimmer. You have a lot riding on me being wrong cause other wise you have never sided with Woodville about anything.
  5. Going to be a good one!
  6. Dawgs in a close one!
  7. That's awesome! Go Hardin!
  8. I don't think PAM wins by 30 but PAM by 3 is way, way too low.
  9. I am pulling for Hardin! I told someone this week that a team from our 3A district will win at least a first round game and Hardin is going to break the ongoing "0-fer" 3A drought. I love their smash mouth style that read about. Their physical play can strengthen this weak district. That's needed to advance. Go Hardin!
  10. by design or because of injury?
  11. Duly noted. We have you on the record. Historically, you have been right about next to nothing. We will see how this one goes. You have a lot riding on WV failing. If WV were to win it would start looking like the coaches know more than you do about the players on the team and coaching in general.
  12. Today
  13. Depending on when Silsbee started school it could be grades.
  14. Newton is not Warren or Trinity. Newton defense is OF 2.0. Babin can throw for another 3 or 4 TDs and no picks and Woodville still lose by 20 plus
  15. Bari Weiss Named CBS News Editor-In-Chief, Solidifying Network’s Rightward Shift | HuffPost Latest News In this article, HuffPo bemoans the fact that CBS is going to shift to the right. This is my favorite quote from the article: Ahead of July’s Skydance-Paramount merger, which required approval by the Federal Communications Commission, Ellison’s company promised the Trump administration it would bring “unbiased journalism” and “diverse viewpoints” that reflect the “varied ideological perspectives of American viewers” to CBS News ― strongly indicating a shift toward more Trump-friendly coverage. Gotta love that fearmongering, but to be fair, the Huffington Post isn't wrong. Unbiased journalism, diverse viewpoints, and varied ideological viewpoints would certainly be taking a right turn away from their liberal rag. Definitely not the point HuffPo was trying to make, but it's ironically accurate just the same. It's also hilarious that they're so upset about the possibility of a news source not devoting all of their energy to attacking Trump.
  16. Babin doesn’t need much time, he has been blitzed all season and gets the ball out quick. He has 24tds to 0 interceptions. If Woodville D gets 2-3 stops in this game, Woodville wins in a shootout. Woodville has an elite collection of WRs for a 3A school.
  17. Didn't mean to Hi-Jack the thread. That being said I'm taking Buna by 2 points. Because I like an underdog story LOL.
  18. Did grades come out yet for any school?
  19. This game was a dog fight for sure - So far Daytons offense usually puts up alot of points on most teams we play. So I don't think Neds defense needs that much tweaking .Daytons defense on the other hand ???? Good luck to Big Ned the rest of the season!

  22. From the article: "As the Schumer Shutdown enters its sixth day, the fight over healthcare continues. Democrats want to give illegal immigrants healthcare, and Republicans, rightly, do not. Democrats have admitted as much, too. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said, "Democrats are demanding healthcare for everybody. We want to save lives. We want to make sure healthcare is available to those who would die." Shri Thander (D-MI), said of illegal immigrant subsidies, "If that means we gotta shut this government down, so be it" and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) admitted, "The amount of money that actually is going towards people who are undocumented is such a small portion" that Americans should be fine with forking over their tax dollars." This is an amazing sentence to see in a @wapo editorial. I am truly impressed: The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act was "never" actually affordable." [Hidden Content] @Big girl @UT alum > you ok? @DCT @Boyz N Da Hood Thoughts?!
  23. I got us 35-14… if play calling becomes suspect and we commit dumb penalties, then BH 31-21
  24. I got WB but I don't feel confident about it.
