You do make one good point that also begs the question - did the recruits come to Texas due to Strong on the Texas reputation. I knew Texas would get its fair share of recruits just due to the allure of the Longhorn fame - but whether you like to admit it or not over the last few year Texas has not gotten all the good recruits like it used too. The gap has narrowed greatly and A&M, Baylor and TCU (and others) are in fact getting recruits that they would not have had a chance at 5 years ago - that is likely not going to change.

If by "not likely" you mean "almost certainly", I would completely agree. :D

So who starts for atm this year? Murray or Allen?

Texas, with a better online & better qb (Heard) will be much better overall. The defense will be nasty again. Strong couldn't help the roster & dead weight he inherited, but he has quickly changed the culture of the program.

How is Heard a better QB - from I have read from Texas posters he was not close to as good as Swoopes this year - did he take something to make him better????

A good number of recruits will go to a school because of tradition and love for that school. There are also those that choose a program because of the coach and his staff. Case in point, Charlie Strong and the kids he has brought to Texas. From the kids he was able to flip, to others outside the state of Texas, there can be no arguement that he has done a remarkable job recruiting in his 1st full year at The University.

Because he is a better "coach" than Sumblin. More with less vs. Less with more. Not a difficult concept.

Now if we are talking dancing in the locker room with the fellas, it's Swaggy K all day, every day...

Any data to back that up or are you just hoping that Is true?

Win %- Sumlin
Bowl record- Sumlin

Core values- Strong
59 yards of offense- Strong
60% of your seasons as a head coach with 6 or more losses- Strong

Wait that's 3-2 Strong. Maybe you are right.

Please explain how Charlie is considered a better coach than Sumlin?

Sumlin's best year ended in a Cotton Bowl victory over OU. Even with 6th year record setting qb Case Keenum he couldn't beat Southern Miss to win C-USA. Once the film was in A&M started losing more and more, kind of like Muschamp at Florida. Even a lot of his coordinator success was due to the guys like Art Briles and Dana Holgerson who he was on staffs with. Sumlin is a great recruiter which is where a lot of his success comes from.

Strong on the other hand, is a guy that after winning titles with Urban Meyer branched out and became even more successful. Tough first year at Louisville but a couple of years later he was beating his old team, Florida, in the Sugar Bowl. After that he follows it up with another 1 loss campaign and destroys Miami at the end of the season. Sumlin jumped out strong, wins two less games than his initial season, gets a raise them loses even more games. But hey, I know to Aggie fans finishing in 8th in the SEC is better than finishing runner-up in the Big 12 any day.

Question is how long will recruits see it that way?

LOL...Strong playing with Mack's recruits (or what was left of them).  You will begin to see what's in store next season, and definitely the following when he gets HIS guys in.

Good luck competing in the SEC West.  Ya'll have done a hell of a job with that so far.  At least when Bama wins the conference you can chant "SEC!"  LOL.

Coog_02 put down the pipe, you're in denial...

Script was flipped when the Aggies fled the Big12...Texas will never have a bad recruiting class, but you should prepare yourself for another 6 win season

The problem with Texas is this mentality:        Texas > Big12

Whereas A&M's mentality (along with all other SEC schools) is this:          SEC > A&M

Denial about what man? I've followed recruiting with a fine tooth comb for the better part of 15 years, you're an Ag fan so I know for a fact you can't say the same. Ag never had a reason to follow receuiting because all they ever got were Texas and OU's scraps. A&M fleeing the Big 12 had little to do with their recruiting classes. Sumlin is the sole reason A&M is viable in the SEC now. I don't care if Gary Pinkel was coaching at A&M now, he wouldn't get guys like Speedy Noil and Daylon Mack to come there, A&M never got those guys before and still wouldn't if Sumlin wasn't there. I'duch rather have UT's arrogance than A&M's complex any day by the way.

Allen is and will be the starter...

Spoken like a true Ag. Name the last west coast qb who's been successful in the south? Weak arms and bad feet, when they play out west in the great weather with no pass rush they don't get exposed until they hit the league. It doesn't take long on the south though.

    • Not yet, anyway. If you can't see that there has been a strong effort to create gender dysphoria amongst young folks AND try to keep it from parents in many instances, you're not paying attention. You may not care about this, but it's ridiculous to ridicule those that do. There is an agenda behind this, no doubt about it, like bullets pointed out earlier, it's just a name change...for now.

    • I’ve stated over and over that I don’t think that the hush money trial has merit. I also don’t think that the fraud/appraisals case in NYC had merit, either. I think that the evidence in the Election Tampering case down in Georgia is pretty damning, and the case about mishandling documents down in Florida is a real problem for Trump… because that’s what intelligent people do-look at the facts make sound decisions not based on their pwecious feewings.  You know, just saying “Bah! It’s all a bunch of lies because I love him!” Or “of course he did it! I hate him.” But thought processes are something most people are incapable of. They only manage to scroll social media for posts that validate their own opinions and them off as truth or fact when they are just outright lies… but they make the re-poster feel good inside so he believes them without question.    Every time I soundly refute the  idea that trump was good for the economy, y’all yell “but COVID!” His tax cuts provided a short term bubble in the economy by way of an exploding deficit and debt that our grandkids will still be paying interest upon 50 years from now even prior to COVID.  It’s like when Mama takes over the family finances, maxes out all of the credit cards and drives the family into bankruptcy.  Y’all would be the spoiled brat, immature and stupid children that spout off “things were so much better when Mom was handling the finances! We had everything we wanted! Put her back in charge!” Anybody that says “Trump was good for the economy” is just letting they world known that they don’t understand micro/macro economics or the effects of rising interest rates have on a debt the size of ours.    What none of you seem to realize is that the problems were facing today (interest rates and inflation) would be occurring even if Trump were in office because his fiscal policies are more flawed than either conservatives or liberals.    Libs: we should raise taxes on the rich and spend more! Conservatives: We should cut taxes on everybody but cut spending!   Trump: We’re gonna cut taxes and spend more!    It’s a recipe for pure disaster. He’s literally the guy who says “we’re gonna buy high, sell low, and make it up in volume!”
    • The problem our buddy @CardinalBacker has is that the Dems have been cheating Trump since before his inauguration.  There's 4 cheats going on right now against a private citizen.  But yet he wants us to believe that the 2020 election was squeaky clean.  No cheating what so ever.  That a brain dead individual got 81 million votes.  But the other guy that was supposed to be so bad got 74 million, the most any President ever got for reelection.  Evil people don't turn on and off their evil cheating ways.
