I’m just stating the obvious. If Newton wants to crow about beating bigger schools, they have to admit that they wouldn’t have any hardware if they actually had to face bigger schools once district started. They literally have a couple of scrimmages, some decent competition in non-district, then about ten more scrimmages until they get to about the third round. Then they beat three or four teams nobody has ever even heard of and celebrate like they won a true state championship. Forgive my trolling, please, sir. I don’t have anything else to talk about this year.

I am going to talk about investigations in general. For probable cause to exist as documented in an affidavit after an arrest made without a warrant (which is probably 90+% of arrests) or an affidavit to request a warrant, each step of discovery or authority by the officer must be documented. As an example: If an officer in an affidavit for a DWI arrest says, “I was on patrol and stopped a vehicle. The driver appeared intoxicated and I blah blah blah and arrested him”. That is not sufficient and not a lawfully documented arrest even if the guy was drunk as a skunk. The reason is because the officer detained a guy under the Fourth Amendment but does not justify the detention. “I stopped a guy” says absolutely nothing that would justify a detention as a suspected crime. A person can only be detained if an officer has details that led the officer to believe that a specific crime is about to be committed, is being committed or was just committed. A correct justification for a detention might be like, “I was on patrol at 2am and sitting in the parking lot of Walgreen’s at 11th St and College St. in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. I could clearly see the north bound traffic lights on 11th St and all of them were red. A vehicle traveling north on 11th St went through the red light without stopping and continued north. I then stopped the vehicle for running the red light and blah, blah, blah. That justifies under oath a reason for the detention. For this investigation (or any), to justify an arrest either without a warrant like an officer answering a call, with a warrant signed by a judge or with a warrant after an indictment by a grand jury, it must be shown how the information came under investigation and then how any evidence was lawfully discovered. So how did the police start this investigation? Did a student report a text to the principal and the principal called the police? Did a student go directly to an officer? Did a teacher happen to walk by and saw what was happening on a text and called the police? There are plenty of possibilities but whatever it was, it has to be documented and sworn to in a probable cause (PC) affidavit on how it came to the police department’s attention. A PC affidavit doesn’t have to list specific details. It has to give enough of the information to be convincing to the definition of PC. All PC affidavits and arrest or search warrants are public information and less details are needed so it is usually better for investigative purposes to not divulge every detail that may be known to the police. Like I could say that I responded to a call of a shooting and found a man with at least one gunshot wound. EMS arrived and could not revive the man and a justice of the peace pronounced him dead at the scene. I would not need to say any details like the man had 3 gunshot wounds to the chest and 9mm shell cases were found nearby. That kind of detail simply is not needed to believe the guy is dead and justify an arrest for murder if a suspect is located before a warrant can be obtained. So….. going out on a limb which might be completely wrong… It would be plausible that a PC affidavit in a case like this would say that at some point officers found that texts were being sent which led to a voluntary interview with a student who said that blah blah texting and blah blah touching and….. Any of those details used to justify any police or grand jury actions, would become public information from a PC affidavit. So if the police were notified that a teacher was sending inappropriate but not necessarily illegal texts and that was the reason for other investigations, it would need to be documented in the public affidavit. So a reporter says, there was mention of blah blah….. That is likely completely true from the affidavit however those listed details might not in themselves be a crime. They just show the sequence of events that led to the conclusion by the officers. I am guessing that a reporter read the PC and noted parts that of it without context.

Everyone talks about Silsbee WR Drelon Miller and the great season he is having and rightfully so. He is a phenomenal athlete and having a super season so far. Thru 7 games (with several of those being very limited in 2nd half) he has 20 rushes for 288 yards (14.4 per carry) 3 TD's and 30 receptions for 873 yards (29.1 per catch) 12 TD's. He also has a kickoff return for a TD. All purpose yards of 1305, 16 TD's. Like I said, he is the buzz talk. I love me some Drelon Miller!! But I want to point out a couple of other Tiger players who are having great seasons. QB Mason Brisbane is having one of the best seasons a Silsbee QB has ever had. He is 86-132 (65%) for 1637 yards (234 per game) 20 TD's with just 2 INT's. QB rating of 140.7. This is as good as I have seen a Silsbee QB have in quite some time. The 65% completion rate is astronomical when it comes to Silsbee QB's. Usually it's somewhere around 48-54%. His decision making has been super this season. One thing that really does go unnoticed is how well he performs the play action. Mason really "sells" it. This senior QB is one of the big reasons as to why Silsbee is having a great year offensively. The other player is senior LB Jayron Williams. He was a Willie Ray Smith finalists last year and with the season he is having so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win it this year. Williams has 95 tackles (80 solo) with 18 tackles for loss. He also has 5 sacks and 1 INT and 1 FG blocked. He is the bell cow on the defensive side of the ball like Miller is on the offensive side. Jayron also contributes on the offensive side as well. He has a total of 8 TD's (6 rushing, 2 receiving). He's the go to dude on goal line and short yardage situations. There are other Tiger players having very good seasons but I just wanted to give these two young men a shout out. Great season so far Mason and Jayron. Keep up the great work.

Unless of course Vidor and LCM are successful in the playoffs and they meet in 3rd or 4th round. A game all of orange county would be at. Enough of this talk though let's get back to Livingston.

Here is the huge difference. There always have been and always will be fringe elements of any stance. That isn’t new. The difference today is that individually there are people who are far out on either side but the parties are not. The GOP/RNC isn’t putting out any radical agenda. We can always say the nut job who lives at the end of the street and who supports Trump (or anyone else) is crazy. For the Democrats, it isn’t the nut job at the end of the block, it is the party. In fact, several times I have said in this forum that the rank and file Democrats probably don’t think nearly the way the Democrat leadership does. They are either stuck backing the home team or more likely, completely ignorant as to what is happening. When Florida passed a law that teachers can’t talk about transgenderism or sex changes until they are 10 years old and the Democrats went crazy, it wasn’t crazy Bob down the street but the Dem’s leadership including the White House. Therein lies the difference. The fringe has always existed. Right now the DNC “is” the fringe.

The playoff scenario is a good topic to talk about but….each team still has 3 games left, and anything can happen. I know in Crosby’s case, no game is a gimme with all the injuries they have had.

There is no way that United with the athletes they have should be this bad. Heard a lot of talk from coach in the preseason that sounded good but not transitioning to the field for the Wolves. Too large a school and too much talent to only be successful in one mens sport (basketball) for the wolves. Hopefully they pull out another win or two to at least be respectable. Speaking of respectable, do something to fix baseball there while you are at it. As bad as football is this year, it still isn’t as hard to watch as the baseball. Go Wolves Football and remember you are still playing better than West Brook at this time.

It’s not the coaches. They’re both good coaches. Sometimes you got tools in the tool bag and sometimes you don’t. I love it when we talk about last year and head to head records and whose got more titles… Every year these programs graduate (usually) their most experienced starters. Yesterday is gone. I have 9 years and counting with this group of young men, I will always support my EAGLES, just pointing out some issues that can be improved. The adjustments you talk about need to start showing because this region is so stacked the little things matter and I believe we can compete with these teams, with adjustments.

Where do you put the school? The west end Wandas aren’t sending their kids over to the pear orchard, and I don’t even want to talk about the very valid firestorm that would erupt if you start trying to bus kids of color 30 minutes across town to the west Brook campus, which is the only BISD property that could logistically support a high school with almost 5,000 kids.

I had Anahuac in my pick'ems with a solid team, all the potential D1 talented QB talk & at home, figured they could pull it out. Bobcats slot T proves me wrong & grinds out another win.
