That’s as much or more a coaching issue as it is a player issue. 

I do.  Mathews was a great motivator and got the best out those young men.  So far I'm not seeing that with the new HC.  The kids look to be very undiscipline (not all of them).
 

I get it. Against Silsbee yes back them up. LCM i would have moved them up. I think Jeff Matthews was a pretty good HC and it might be showing a tad. Would you agree?

could really go either way, but our starting safety being out scares me.  with that being said, pirates in a close one.  

I was there. Slot T worked very very well. Scored on first play and 4 of the first 5 possessions. Buna had no answer.
Orangefield won the line of scrimmage on both sides. Emphatically.

Does Orangefield have the personnel to run something else? A lot of times the slot t is tailored to fit your program. I think people are being a little harsh over a 19-7 loss to a good Woodville team who most likely are the favorites to win their district. You might wanna consider what you graduated and lost from last years team when looking at expectations for this years….

well yeah.  if the slot t is running well, when you do throw a pass its usually wide open.  the point of my post was that this team lacks discipline and looks out of shape.  those things can be fixed and hopefully the staff can get it done, if not it will be a rough district

Trahan is still on staff at Vidor.  BC hired Chris Towery as OC, he was previously the head coach at Sulphur High in la and has had many successful stops as an OC throughout the state of Texas in high school and jr college

I am sure the 45-51 overall record & 10-37 record his last 5 years as a head coach has some Vidor fans skeptical. No doubt the players will be fired up& ready to go, Can Dubois get  back to his 2014\2016 winning ways....

So there were applicants from Kansas, Rockport-Fulton & Tyler? But the job was not well advertised? You think an Assistant at Southlake Carroll who did not apply should have been hired? You think they should run any other offense as long as it isn’t the Slot T. Vidor tried the Spread, the flex one, e den the slot T out of the gun. They have run a 3-3, 4-2-5, 3-4 defenses also. Don’t hear much on here about that! I also hear that Vidor has Speed that could be shown off in another offense. Please prove this one to me!!! Who are these speedsters? Where are they? Please tell us something that the coaches haven’t evaluated.

I just hope Vidor gets a good Coach.  Regardless of the offense - spread, Slot T, Wishbone, doesn’t matter.  Just get the kids mentally thinking they’re unbeatable, and can win every game.  Do that and you’ll be Coach of the Year.

I sure hope we get someone in here that will implement a fast paced spread attack.  I heard we had multiple guys run 4.4 - 4.65 in the 40 this year.  I mean, look at our linemen, they are built for 2 pt stances and pass setting.  In the spread, we will beat LCM by at least 4 tds.
 
some of you all are hilarious.  we don't have to be slot-t, but we defenitly need to be run based and ball control on offense.  that is the best defense we have.

players > coaching.  Way more often than not.
players + coaching + level of competition = wins.  Missing any of the 3 is likely detrimental. 
Let's stay on Lumberton.  A couple years ago they won the district championship in basketball.  Their coach was unanimous COY for the district.  Not so much as a sniff the next year... or since.  What happened?  Same exact coach.  Still Lumberton kids.   Oooohh.. that's right.  They had a 6'6 D1 signee on the team.  
Funny how kids make coaches successful.  Disclaimer:  I know Coach Mitchell personally and think he does a fantastic job.  But... it takes players to have success.  I'm positive you'll ignore the example I just gave and the endless others.. but it doesn't change anything.

Not a single player ran 4.5… now their dad may have brought them to the field and clocked them on the daddy watch… but no one on Vidor’s roster touched a legit 4.5
