You need to look at Newton’s results, they speak for themselves. We have no chose to who we play in district. Barbay said he did not want to schedule a team
unless he thought they had a chance to beat us. He said playing a real bad team serves only to get one of your kids hurt. That is why we have played Silsbee, Gilmer, WOS, Carthage, Jasper, etc.. It prepares us for the playoffs.

I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm saying.  I'm saying that by the time they're deep into the playoffs, it's been several weeks/months since they've had a "preparation game". You have no idea whether or not the season would have turned out exactly the same or not by playing different schools in the preseason. When you win by 50/60/70 points for 6 weeks in a row.. then keep doing so until round 3, does it really make a difference that you had a close game in week 2?  I don't think it does.. the starters haven't played more than 2 quarters since then. If anything, they've forgotten what it's like to have to play a whole game.  There's no way that you can convince me that 2 weeks of "prep games" has an effect but 10 weeks of blowouts doesn't.

Wanna play bigger schools preseason?  Fine.. go ahead.  I'm just saying that it doesn't make as much difference as people think.  Newton would've won those state titles no matter if they played WOS before district or not.

And.. can't be mad at WOS for not wanting to play a school multiple classifications lower... in football.  That's a no-win situation for them.

We are at the bottom of our bracket now. If the bio refr. Kicks off we would probably gain more students. If we go 2A I think it would be hard to get good 3A  and 4A teams to schedule us. WOS has already told us they will not schedule us
    next year.

My opinion: Playing "bigger" schools in the preseason doesn't really prepare you for anything.. if you play every district game after and even the first couple/few playoff games as a blowout win.  What was accomplished? After winning 8 games in a row by 60 points I mean.. The preseason "preparation" is wiped away at that point.

  3. Players + Coaching + Competition level = Success

Any 2 of the 3 can lead to a great year.  Maybe not a state championship year, but good year.  Just having 1 of the 3 isn't enough.  It takes good players.. and it takes preparation/strategy. But that wouldn't be enough in a juggernaut district/region/classification.  It happens every two years... Same relative coaching staff, a lot of the same players, but reclassification may turn zeros into heroes or vice versa.

Just like I've seen good coaches have mediocre years because of lost talent or even graduation.  Or injuries... And not that great of coaches can have pretty good years if they have a lot of talent or are in a weaker level of competition.

It's crazy to think that there aren't a lot of variables.  But I will never be convinced that all it takes is great coaching.  MOST coaches are practicing stuff that is designed to be successful.  And MOST coaches are taking stuff from coaches/teams that are successful.

Regardless, if Newton moves down, I think newton will opt. to stay where they are.

My personal opinion: I think it's dumb when schools do that.  I also think they shouldn't be given the choice.

    But... not up to me.

EC has a 14-15 year old operating the offense the coach has completely disregarded the 18 year old senior back up for Perrault from last season. He did the same thing last year. You have to give kids the chance Sutherland has screwed Purcell. 2 years in a row. He has the mechanics work ethic athleticism he only lacks experience thanks to the coaching staff . They’ll get trampled all district long and won’t make playoffs because the coach is ridiculous.

There are undoubtedly reasons that you have no idea about.  Most importantly.. that it’s completely the coach’s decision.  The coach that continues to be successful.. and led EC on a very deep run relatively recently.  Yeah, I’m trusting his intuition over.. well.. yours for sure.

Certainly you don’t think this kid should’ve played over last year’s district MVP? Certainly not.  Yeah.. it’s bad timing for the kid.

I really don’t have any idea, but, if the senior is evenly remotely close to the young kid as far as talent… I’d personally go with the younger kid.  Because he’ll improve with experience.  Who cares if the senior improves.. for next year? He’ll be gone.

100 kids in high school.   55% are female.  22 kids play football.  Give them a break. I have an idea what the point is referencing the horsemen, not being on this platform very long I figured that out quick.  Don’t think that poster posts anymore. These kids play hard

There isn't a person here that doesn't feel bad for the kids or the situation.  It's definitely a very uncommon thing that their school enrollment has gone the opposite direction of the norm.. especially at such a quick rate.  I'm really wondering what's going on over there to cause it...

Anyway.  Unfortunately.. I don't think it's something that they'll ever live down.  The poster that you're referring to, (the one that only shows up when they beat literally anybody).. has ruined it for the school.  The four horsemen thing will never die.

Maybe Colmesneil is loaded with athletes coming up? About to steamroll the Region to the extent that the Four Horsemen from HD would be envious.

I suppose anything's possible.  I'll refrain from putting money on that, though.

Disclaimer: They'll probably be much better with the enrolling of his kid.. from what I hear.

    Closer to the Lake!

A lot of schools are close to lakes.  Again.. my point remains.

Don't be mistaken.. I'm happy for him and his family if this is what he wants.  I'm just saying that when you go from a small, traditionally bad football school to an even smaller, traditionally bad football school.. Then location of school has officially taken priority of the win/loss column.
