After several years of mediocrity, to go into one of the toughest places in the nation to play and take the the #4 team in the nation to overtime? With an incredible defensive performance? With a backup, true freshman qb? Yeah, I'd say most people that follow the program are very happy right now.

Isn't that what the ags got after that 10-point beat down of Nicholls state last weekend?
-
Great game. A win for the horns no matter what happens here.
-
Now the scary part

Would've liked another look. I thought he grabbed the bottom bar of the mask from underneath. Couldn't really see for sure from the replay.
-
Sure wish we had that fg from the first half right now...
-
Did the coaches not talk to him the first time he fielded a punt on the 1 yard line and kept it from going into the endzone?
-
Great call to go for the fake, but the hold was obvious, and there's a chance the fake doesn't work without it
-
Texas D still coming up big. Need the offensive to move the ball. They had a decent drive to start the 2nd half, so maybe they'll have a little momentum
-
Well, that was nauseating
-
These announcers are lame, but I have to agree with the point that the UT defense hasn't looked this good in years
-
How did two officials miss that defensive hold? That was terrible.
-
I still don't have much hope in this game, but it's nice to see the defense show a little grit for the first time in a few years
-
Agreed. A defensive stop and then the lead on the road wouldve been the perfect start. That turnover on downs gave momentum right back to USC
-
Great start to the season!

Watson looked better than savage, but still needed a lot of help from the refs to get that drive into the endzone -
So they have a year's more of experience, bigger, stronger, older. I'd assume they'd improve some

This cool front saved us. If not for it likely all three would've hit somewhere on the gulf coast

You're trying too hard

Disastrous collapse, and I'm not getting on here gloating. That was unbelievable! What a disastrous weekend for Texas college football in general

We HAD cold beer, but cooked ribs day before yesterday and fried fish last night. But the convenience store got a fresh shipment yesterday, so we could probably make it happen for you

It's been awesome seeing all of the stories of people helping one another this last week. We were blessed to stay dry in fannett, but most of our neighbors were not so lucky. We're doing what we can to help out. We've got a family of 5 from up the road staying with us right now. We only knew them to wave to in passing, but I saw them try to get out Tuesday morning and have to turn around and return to their flooded house. I told them to grab what they could and come on, and they've been here 4 days. Turns out we've made some great new friends. We're also having people come from Beaumont to get a hot shower, refill water containers, and wash clothes. We have 3 showers (including two walk-ins that are fairly handicap friendly, and two sets of washer and dryers. If any of my setxsports buddies need to bring your families out, get ahold of me tomorrow (today) at (409)781-3185. due to the uniqueness of my relationship with you guys, as we've mostly never met, this offer is only extended to people who've been well established on this board. I feel like I know many of you, despite not meeting face to face, but I'm a little leery of some stranger seeing this post and trying to take advantage of my generosity and trying something. Never hurts to be a little cautious. As an aside, my wife got a little upset with me this morning. I had to explain to her that, although our freezers have a pretty good supply of meat, she needed to take down her Facebook offer to feed any and all people involved in the local rescue efforts. While I'm grateful for what they're doing, supplies are tough to replenish right now, and we're currently feeding 9 mouths a meal. She didn't consider the fact that if the Cajun navy showed up for dinner we'd be reduced to eating dry cereal and canned beets for the next week

If they would've jammed the roads trying to evacuate millions of people, the death toll would've been in the thousands, maybe tens of thousands. Lots of the evacuation routes ended up under 8 or more feet of water very quickly.

I posted this on Catt's Facebook, so I'll post it here as well, with a few modifications: Reading the whole story, the Rangers were in a tough spot. I'm not saying I totally agree with what they're doing, but I understand why they did it. The Astros have the division locked up, but the rangers are in the middle of fighting for a wildcard spot. Had they switched series, the Rangers would've had to end the season on a 4-city, 12 game road trip, while possibly still fighting for a spot in the playoffs. This would greatly reduce their chances to make the postseason. They offered to play the games this week in Arlington as the away team, while giving the Astros all revenue from the games. Not perfect, and not necessarily the right thing to do, but not exactly how Reid Ryan is portraying it, which is that the Rangers were just trying to be dicks. Rangers GM Jon Daniels said that he was "cringing" while negotiating with the Astros over switching series, but since the Astros team itself is not in danger, he chose to do what was best for his team and fanbase. I'd hate to be in his position, where doing what's best for his team looks bad, but making a hollow, almost meaningless offer to the Astros that hurts his team makes him look good. I think the Rangers should've instead offered the revenue from the games to Houston flood relief, rather than to the Astros themselves, and it would've been a better move. If that had been the case, both teams could've come out okay, with the Rangers not hurting their playoff chances, while donating millions of dollars to flood relief, and the Astros giving up the revenue of a few meaningless home games (which they've now done anyway) that would go straight to helping flood victims. to me, this would afford much more tangible help to Houston than giving them a couple of meaningless home games in a playoff race they've already won. I think it's also fair to say that of the 100,000 or so fans that would have benefited by attending these games in person, many or most will not have been directly affected by flooding, and even if they were, there are many more flood-effected Rangers fan in the Houston area who would gain a similar "morale boost" by seeing the Rangers make the playoffs. Just my two cents on the matter.
