Kinda totally different things. I have no doubt that if the series didn't coincide, and the Rangers had an empty stadium, that the Astros would be playing in it this week.

My wife and I are supposed to go to Florien, Louisiana for a funeral this weekend. Gonna try to leave tomorrow night after her meet the teacher. I'm not real happy right now. They're saying that Galveston might get 50 mph gusts and heavy rain as soon as tomorrow night, and that's not far from us in fannett. Not looking forward to driving through this crap.

The problem with Big Girl's plagiarized statement is that it implies that all racists are white. as of late I've seen many, many overt examples of racism directed TOWARDS white people, and the perpetrators most certainly have "taken a left."

In my case, at least when I post on issues where I'm left-leaning, I don't feel shouted down. But I have gotten overwhelmed at times. It can be difficult to make a point that is rebutted by 6 people in 3 hours. I end up in a bunch of separate debates and feel like I'm talking in circles.

I deal with many, many people who have Medicaid and no job, or part-time jobs.

being outnumbered 10 to 1 on here makes it tough on the liberals. Anyone making a point gets shouted down. That being said, a lot of them don't make very good points to begin with

FYI, smitty left after a (very light) verbal warning by a (conservative) moderator because he was spamming the crap out of the political forum with what trump would refer to as fake news. 10-20 articles a day at one point, many of which were patently false. When asked to slow down, he opted to take his websites and go home. As for me, although I am more conservative than I used to be, I do in fact have to agree with Westend that I find the conversations in this forum stale. There's still a lot of fringe propaganda from both sides, and very little productive discourse. Every now and then I see an article I feel like voicing an opinion on, but generally it feels like a waste of time.

Reading the article, after getting through the political fluff, it appears that trump saved at least 700 people their jobs for at least 10 years. The company is choosing to lay off other people in other sections, but I don't really understand the criticism of trump here.

Could those lives also be saved if the recipients weren't allowed to mooch off the government, forced to find jobs, and thus able to secure healthcare for themselves? stevenash makes good money. If he quits his job, and no longer makes any money, I can "save his life" by buying him food and water. That being said, if he starts working again, he can "save" his own life without needing others to pay for it.

Michigan: Give Up Your Guns or Give Up Your Grandson
bullets13 replied to Hagar's topic in Political Forum
I can't find a reputable source for this, just a few fringe sites copying each other. It does appear that the lawsuit was filed, so I think this has actually happened. This seems like something fox would pick up. That being said, I have a very hard time believing that a judge said: “We know we are violating numerous constitutional rights here, but if you do not comply, we will remove the boy from your home,” the judge said. -
I think it's safe to say that whatever he does will be the wrong decision in your opinion.

I've always heard that the east side of the storm is the "dirty side", but I didn't realize what that meant until just now.

Can we all agree that it would be a great idea if they used stripper names to name all storms one year? This idea struck me when my tired eyes misread Cindy as Candy awhile ago.

Reading through the comments here, a couple of people mention that he was reaching for the documents the officer asked for and not the gun. That's all well and good, except he had already handed them to the officer. He then informed the officer that he had the gun, and was told not to reach for it. It would then appear that he did in fact reach for it, or the officer wouldn't have screamed multiple times for him to stop reaching for it. The officer says "don't pull it out", and to me, Castile can clearly be heard saying "I have to pull it out", and is shot seconds later as he apparently continued to reach towards his gun. Now, he was high on marijuana, which may have affected his comprehension skills and judgement, and he may not have (and most likely didn't) had any intent to shoot the officer with his gun. But this video in my mind (and in the mind of the jury that tried him) clearly shows the officer was not guilty of the charges against him. Don't reach means don't reach, and he clearly had a gun that was in the general vicinity of where he continued to reach, even after the officer clearly told him multiple times not to. It seems that in today's society some folks feel like police officers don't have the right to defend themselves unless they've already been shot at or stabbed. My sister is a cop, and I hope that if she's ever in a situation where she needs to defend herself she doesn't hesitate due to the fact that she might possibly be tried and convicted by the media before she ever has her day in court.

My mother and I used to work at the same school, and I ended up behind her one day on the way to work. She went through a yellow light, I stopped behind her, and the vehicle next to me ran the red light (marginally, in a way most cops would let slide). Burmeister was at the cross street, and pulled that vehicle as well as my mom over, and gave them both tickets for running the red light. I was literally 3 car lengths behind her and clearly saw that she was entering the intersection as the light turned yellow. My mom tried to fight it in municipal court, but the judge was old and senile (asked me 3 times in 2 minutes how old I was), and just went along with burmeister and his evidence (a video that showed the vehicles but not the light). If you're ever in that situation I believe you can ask for a trial with a jury, and I highly recommend it.

It rained all week, and they delayed games all week, but in the finals that the home team was about to lose, after playing in rain the off and on the whole game, one out away from finishing the inning that would've given it to Lamar, they call the game in a manner that reverses the score back in favor of the home team? And after only 19 minutes? Yeah, I'm fairly confident there was some homer crap going on
-
I actually am the one who emailed deadspin about this... Notice the credit for the tip to Lucas at the end of the article

Theoretically. But one would wonder if the game would've been called if the roles were reversed, or if they might would've tried a little harder to complete the inning, since the tourney was being held at Liberty.
