The Scoreboard and Weekly Schedule threads pinned up top of the forum are now automated and those threads will remained pinned for the whole season. Each thread has a drop down for each week so those two threads will be used all season. The titles of the two threads will not reflect each week. It will just be a title for the whole season. The Weekly schedule thread will also show what games we will be broadcasting. Also Jordan developed an automated Standings thread that is pinned up top. The standings will automatically update after games go final. Jordan has put a lot of work into this and so far it looks and works great.

Personally just don't see the benefit of teams playing all star teams. Particularly out of state all star teams. It's almost a case of apples and oranges. I wouldn't send any Texas team to play those guys. Kind of pointless.

Have never been a fan of these OOS games and I never will. Big difference in open enrollment and cross country recruiting. As big of a North Shore supporter as I am. I don't like the fact we are playing one this week in playing John Curtis. Nothing to gain from playing a team that does nothing that we'll see again this season.

Hemphill is hosting Deweyville. If I am not fishing, I will go check out the Hornets.

I think those games are purely played to suffice the “What state has the best high school football?” argument? Their argument is that out public schools have open enrollment which is like recruiting but apples and oranges is an understatement when it comes to what schools like Mater Dei, STA, St. Frances or Bishop Gorman do.

You are correct sir. With West Brook going to a 9 team district (only have 2 non district games now) and Hitchcock moving up to 4A D2 (don't want to schedule another regional D2 team), that took 2 of last years non district opponents out of play.

Carthage would have a similar result as DeSoto if not worse probably….

They put out an apology statement, and didn't even have what the issue was in the letter. That game was on ESPN, so they've got to save some kind of face.

Deer Park has found themselves an excellent QB, and they return a D1commit RB in Yates. The Deer are an always solid, perennial 6AD1 PO team who just happens to always run into North Shore 1st Round. Game 1, they blanked another perennial 6A PO team--Pearland Dawson--in Pearland 35-0. It wasn't close. The Deer appear to have a team that can challenge Dickinson for the District crown this year. La Porte looked--without sugarcoating it--pretty bad while going up against a very talented Fort Bend Crawford team. They'll need to really start gelling with the new offense in a hurry with every game counting next week. Actually, this rivalry game counts as much as a district game to many of the fans and players. Against Crawford, LP lost 2 OL from an already younger OL on consecutive plays in the first quarter, and the losses could be seen in execution from there on out. Hopefully, the young men are okay and can return. Status is unknown to me at this time. The Dawgs also had snap issues on a punt after stopping Crawford at the 5 yard line, gave up a safety, and gave Crawford another offensive possession. Later, they stopped Crawford again, had a mishandled snap in the endzone, gave up another safety, and gave Crawford another offensive possession. You can't give another offensive powerhouse 4 points & two extra offensive possessions and expect to win. Even with these miscues, and not running Simon all that much, they were within one score midway through the 4th. But, they just looked out of sync all night. I expect the Deer to take revenge at home for last year's loss to the Dawgs in a big way if LP doesn't play flawless. Thoughts?

I see ole BigDog doesn’t like reality. I simply stated that all these folks were talking about how good they were going to be this year with all the returners and these tremendous players from the JV and freshman teams. However they forgot that when you continue to lose, you get that loser’s mentality. They were about as bad as you can get last year and after watching the WB game they are still pretty bad and if you think they can compete against a much better team than WB, maybe you came from the moon. It is great to be for your team and I applaud you for that, however I think one needs to be realistic about a team and a program that has been poor the past several years. Again they have not played good defense since Delbert Spell retired and that has been a few years!

Seal the deal and stop the never ending war. Name a better Health care plan. Stop with all the hot air and address the cost of living. More MAGA fluff. 🌊🌊🌊

Having a different coach explains the result. Prieto could coach circles around Willis even playing with the short stack talent wise. Not saying Coach Williams is on Coach P’s level yet but he’s at least competent enough not to get embarrassed by teams he should beat.

Being that I was no more than 20-25 feet from the incident, I can say with 100% accuracy that the Mustang player did do something very bad. Well after the play he throat punched an offensive lineman for Newton so bad the lineman went down to his knees. Everyone on the sidelines, including two game officials saw it. The player that was ejected for Newton was retaliating from what he saw happen to his teammate. Both deservedly were ejected.

I think North Shore is who you would choose if you had to select a team any given year. I still think STA would win 7/10 but North Shore is coached so well that they would probably have the best shot to mitigate the up and down talent cycles. For as good as our high school teams are it’s tough to compete against squads that can start a 3⭐️ at every position on the field

WO-S 35 Nederland 7. Another year of no defense and offense will not move the ball much on WO-S. Gave up 300 rushing yards to WB. Probably give up about 350 to WO-S. Quickly discovering over the past few years, the Bulldog players are soft. They have all these starters back off a horrific team. They praised the JV and freshman teams. Did they all quit? My take is they are not very good!

PNGs OC has been very good, took them right down the field drive one with 4 new starters on the OL…not sure why we’re criticizing the OC when PNG scored 27 points against a 5A D1 school on the road. Sad to see.

Good win to start the season for Crosby. Most complete game I’ve seen us play in three years, very easy to see the difference in the way the kids are prepared. I don’t expect the new, young staff to be as sound as BH next week but if they somehow do walk out with a victory I think the question immediately becomes “Can Crosby win a shocker somewhere in district play?”. Either way it’s the first time Crosby has been 1-0 in eight years so already kudos to the new staff.

I keep hearing that the talent is there for Nederland. If that is the case, why is the performance so poor? The defense is supposed to be good this season and you give up 300 yards rushing. Are they simply underachievers? Anyone’s thoughts on why their performance is poor?

Not a good night for the Nederland defense which I considered improved from last year im not a fan of Coach Wright no matter how high Coach Rich is on him. On a positive note Jackson Lane and the special teams (- a few punts) had a pretty good night

Well, this explains it. I went by last week and saw them practicing Tuesdayevening. there was more grabbingass going on then practicing so that’s why they’re so bad time for new coach. I think our kids that wanna play ball and not grab ass.
