The same Livingston that struggled to beat Orangefield? Yes, the Lions are decent but not a lock for 1 or 2.

I find this funny as Livingston struggled early last year as well as struggled against orangefield and still won the district district. New year for all teams but I think huffman and Livingston will battle for that top spot

Hate to be a language nazi but a PARODY district would be a bunch of joke teams like Stuffman, Snuff Gulley, Little Children Monsters, Chumperton (as someone likes to say), Losington and Spendmora. I think the word you want is PARITY which means more level or equal in skills. Just saying.

Oh, and as always, I'm going to take my Raiders for making the post season even this early.

Yep, you’re right.  I could blame it on spell check, but durn, parody looked close and parity was the word I meant to use.  Lol, Kudos for the correction.

"Hate to be a language nazi"....No you don't.  Language nazis jump at the chance to correct someone.  But I get it.  Being a raider fan doesn't leave you with much to cheer about in sports world so you've have to resort to being a grammer/language nazi.

Let's make this simple. Vidor should go undefeated in district. Huffman has not looked all that impressive in their wins, but Vidor has gone 3-0 with impressive wins against tough opponents. Huffman won't be able to stop Vidor's ground and pound game. I think LCM will be a better bet to challenge Vidor for the DC. My prediction for the district.

1. Vidor/LCM

2. LCM/Vidor

3. Huffman

4. Livingston

5. Lumberton

6. Splendora

That's a bold prediction, but I honestly dig it and very possible that this can be the district outcome.

Guitar Man

you say Huffman hasn’t looked to good to this point

They have given up 2 points in 3 games. I would say that is pretty good

I'm just more impressed with Vidor beating the teams they have beat compared to who Huffman has played. Huffman's defense has been good, but I just have a hunch that Vidor will manhandle Huffman's D-line and have success getting the LBs blocked with the slot-t. Now, could that Vidor/Huffman game become another 99 point game like the Vidor/Silsbee game?? Absolutely, but I also think Vidor comes out on top.

As far as our sports teams go let's see, while it's true we haven't been in the  playoffs much for football we have boys and girls soccer teams who are in the playoffs virtually annually. We've also got good basketball teams both boys and girls, our baseball/softball teams have made the playoffs many times. Our cheerleaders who if you watch them for any team are ectremely athletic not only won state but have placed in the top five nationally several times. Lumberton offers a well rounded curriculum for its' students who want to participate, hell even the band went to the state competition 2 years in a row, once as 5A once as 4A and continue to be one of the most excellent bands in the region. We've got every bit as much if not more to cheer about than Snuff Gulley has.

As for as the topic at hand, Vidor may have a shot at district along with Huffman and I expect Lumberton to be in the mix when playoffs come after waatching the way those boys battled last Friday.

    • So you are saying a star baseball SHOULD be doing full contact football drills during the baseball season as his Baseball team prepares for the playoffs?
    • Roger.  I misread your comment. Perhaps the other sports will turn the corner sometime soon.
    • I'm going to agree with this. Individual drills would be fine, but a varsity baseball player should not be involved in full pad practices during the baseball season. Especially, if he is a contributing player on a playoff bound baseball team. This is irresponsible and selfish of the AD/HFC.
    • If there's a specific situation that started this thread, I don't know the details.  Nor do I care.  But I do have an opinion about what I'm gathering from some of the comments. My opinion: I do believe that an AD should leave the players of a particular sport to their respective head coach during that season.  The varsity players of that sport anyway.  I believe it's a little different concerning the sub varsity players of that sport.  If an AD/HFC decides to grab some JV baseball players for some offseason football stuff during the athletics period, I don't have AS MUCH of a problem with it.  I would still consider it a common courtesy to discuss with the head coach of that particular sport to consider their thoughts on it. I also believe that ALL athletes should be lifting and running all year.  When in a particular season, I believe that the head coach of that sport should control the reigns on that topic to implement some sport specific lifting/running during their season.  But all athletes should be in the weight room year round. As far as playing multiple sports?  I'm an advocate.  I know that the popular idea is for potentially good/great players in a specific sport to "focus" on that sport.  And I agree.. but focusing on one sport doesn't mean stopping the others.  It just means prioritizing time in a way that extra work is put into that specific sport.  After hours, weekends, holidays/summer, etc..  Just because you plan on making a push into college baseball (for example) doesn't mean you can't work on baseball during other sports seasons.  That's exactly what I did.. and countless others.  Plus, it's important to maybe learn how to be a role player in a sport that you're not the best at.  Because that's coming. That's my opinion.  And I come from an era where kids played multiple sports if they knew it would be helping.  Helping their classmates.. or just contributing to school pride.  I hate knowing that there are schools that could be much more competitive if their kids would just come out.  It's hard for me to understand if I'm being honest.
