But yes, this list is a joke. Thompson should be a first teamer, Padgett deserved at least 2nd IMO, and there are several other players in our area worthy of AT LEAST HM.

I really do compare this vote to the Baseball HOF voters. Half dont care about baseball anymore, IE our players in SETX dont matter to them because the players are not in the area of the majority of the voters and they dont do research. Its just a right for some or a privilege and as we all know privilege can be taken away. But what do I know. Just expressing my opinion.

I dont really pay attention to all-state lists, they are just as bad as the all-district lists.

It's a known fact the AP All State teams have been somewhat of a joke for the last several years. Some of these players listed did not make all-district teams yet make all-state.

 

Very, very little research done. AP should just do all-region teams.

I have a question? Im thinking of the top players in texas in setx in the 15 years. I mean top. Tony Brown Dustin Long Deshawn Washington to name a few. Forgive me for not naming your school or players. Just giving a reference and decade. Did these outstanding players make the all state team?

A few years back Nederland had a linebacker (forgive me, I cannot remember his name) that was the AP Class 4A Defensive Player of Year yet he did not make 1st team all district (was 2nd team). How can one be the state player of the year and not be a 1st team all district player?

 

Again, the AP sports editors are mostly clueless.

Washington was not player of year and was a senior last year. This was several years ago.

 

BTW, Washington was a 1st team All-District player. He was DL not linebacker.

he did have some success at UT... Teams in district seemed to find a way to minimize his effect though. He parlayed (sp?) all of it into a college degree though, so good for him.

Surprised at the DT snub at defensive back . I just knew for sure there were gonna be more players from the area were gonna make all state , but i guess i was wrong . I guess the txsw will get it right , we hope (shrugs).
