  1. The problem w/UIL rules now and why things are a lot more murky IMO is when the state of TX basically opened the door for open enrollment...when they granted charter schools and forced the UIL to take them it basically gave the green light to ISDs to start admitting kids who didnt live in their attendance zones...

UIL cant mandate a kid who doesnt live in an open enrollment ISD be ineligible for 4 years...they'd lose that court case quick, fast and in a hurry...hence the 365 rule "establishing residency"

Until there are fundamental changes at the administrative level the deck is stacked. PNG defied the odds.

The administrative/rule making arm of the UIL is the legislative council....which is made up of the schools themselves...if the schools want the transfer rules changed then they have the ability to do so themselves....

I know some people want to go back to an automatice one-year sit out if a kid transfers...problem there is that already got overturned in the courts...UIL used to have that rule in place...its one of the few court cases the UIL's ever lost

Yep - PNG has to rely on coaching up the boys we have, and SOC openly rebuilds like they’re in the ncaa. They had no pass rush against PNG last year - If we face them next year, they’ll have an all new team tailor made to deal with us. It’s ridiculous. And , if they win we’ll all stand there and clap and pretend there was anything organic about their team. If we win, they’ll file grievances and try to put asterisks and insinuations on the victory.

I’m not saying they’re breaking the rules by all these transfers. They’re a magnet school and PnG isn’t, etc. But the idea that all the schools don’t put their teams together under the same rules challenges the idea of high school sports altogether.

The young man in question isn't eligible at the moment...if the PAPF comes back clean, then by UIL rules he'll be eligible...if the PAPF isn't clean then we'll see a DEC hearing at minimum

You have not heard of “tryouts for baseball”? It is never “one kid”, once  they know they can be in athletics instead of PE they will keep coming.

Most places I know have varsity tryouts and if you don't make it you are on JV/Freshman team...both teams may have 25/30 kids but they are part of a team so it's cool

Understood. What do you do in the Fall with a kid who claims he is going to be on a team in the Spring that he has not made? Keep him in athletics till February and when he doesnt make the team or doesnt show up, just keep him? Because it is too late to do a schedule change. He effectively consumed resources that could have been utilized on a player who is actually playing and wants to play.

One extra kid in offseason isn't going to make or break things IMO....

I dont know many schools that cut in baseball, Maybe they do but I figure most just have subvarsity teams and try to split em up to play some...most coaches want more kids in athletics

  6. I've seen it done at 5A and above where they have athletic periods that are sport specific....

I know there's a 4A in DFW that has athletics for football, basketball and baseball...the kids that are sport specific  stay in those sports all year and the multi-sport kids switch based on thr season

I asked you a specific question. I'll try again.

I asked you specifically if Jason Todd would use a "we were robbed in 2023" for a specific motivation in the event they were to meet again. OR, would as you said, Todd and the SOC staff "really just moved on" and it won't be mentioned again to their team or the public.

You have plenty to say about plenty of things. Why is this difficult for you? After all, you know Todd pretty well. Can you answer it?  Its a simple, straightforward question? It should be easy.

I think publicly the coaching staff has moved on, the grievance and game still being in the news is all DISD politics.

The loss will absolutely be used as motivation with the team; I would not put anything past him or the coaches when it comes to what needs to be said regarding motivational tactics behind closed doors.

I'm not savvy enough to know how to post videos, but if someone will look up the video on you tube 'Interview with SOC HC Jason Todd on controversial state Championship game vs PNG. Refs rigged calls' posted by 'Grimes Time' and post it here no doubt MR Buddy Garrity will win his bet. its about 11 minutes long

I watched the interview with Grimes and Todd did say he didn't agree with the calls, (shocking a head coach not agreeing with close calls going against his team) and he said he didn't agree with the official that lives in Groves being on the crew...but if I recall he also said that was on him that he didn't research the crew thoroughly

I don't recall him using the term rigged or robbed but its been several weeks since I watched the interview too

So are you claiming Todd and staff won't be telling their team WE WUZ ROBBED and we (SOC) will be on a mission to hunt down and "avenge" PNG in 2024?  You are claiming the noble Todd and the noble SOC staff has just moved on from this point never to mention it again, correct?

What team that loses in the state game won't be trying to avenge their loss? Motivation 101 lots of teams who suffer a tough playoff loss do it...SOC is no different

Where did Todd say they were robbed? Maybe he said it and I missed it while in Canada?
