If you read what I wrote, I said almost exactly that. I said that I have little respect for BLM and that it is based on a lie and continued lies.
This guy's arrest has no bearing on it one way or the other.
Republicans and conservatives love to wear their religion (usually Christianity) on their sleeves.  Does one of the many flawed clergymen being arrested for sometimes terrible crimes such as child molesting make Christianity, Republicans or conservatives wrong?
I'll bet you think not. You likely want to apply that standard to BLM however. If so, I think that is hypocritical.
If any organization or belief is judge by every single individual in it, then they are all corrupt. Using that standard we can say that all educators are crooks and care nothing of students and BISD proved it.... right?

Here is what I think about his arrest.
So what? If he is guilty of what is claimed, he is a dirtbag of the worst kind. If so he needs to have a nice long stay in government housing, specifically in the prison system.
I have little respect for BLM as an organization. It is a movement based and started on a specific lie and continued through other falsification. The idea of people needing to be treated equally is great and honorable but they do exactly what they accuse others of doing. The do not want a race lumped into a group but they are willing to do the exact same thing for the police.
Now as to his arrest, again, so what? Whether a person agrees or disagrees with the beliefs of BLM, his arrest should have no bearing on those beliefs or worthiness. That tactic is used o both sides of political arguments and they are always bogus.
It is easy to find a person that is a crook in any organization or a belief. If Nancy Pelosi is indicted next week and eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison, does that negate Obamacare? Whether we agree or disagree with it and her being maybe its biggest proponent, that doesn't make the law flawed. I think the law is flawed in itself but not because some Democrat might a crook.
We can turn that around the other way. I believe in conservatism in most instances. Richard Nixon resigning from the presidency in disgrace has no bearing on my beliefs or the validity of wanting less government, less taxes, less gun control, etc.
Yes, Nixon was guilty. Does that make my beliefs wrong? Not in the least. If the BLM guy is guilty as charges, does it does it make the BLM movement wrong? No.
Those movement, beliefs or organizations should stand on their own and not be tied to some idiot, even at the top, that might be a criminal. Both sides play that game by pointing out flaws in people and using that to disgrace an entire organization. They are both wrong.
Again, I think the BLM movement is stupid. The chants of fry the pigs (police) are disgraceful. They want to toss each one of us into one big basket. They do not want the same done in return however. To look at BLM as being a bad organization because of a guy in a leadership position is simply wrong just as much as it is saying that Republicans are crooks because Nixon lied and covered up evidence.
    In my opinion.

I have two.  My first car was a '65 mustang with a straight 6.  nothing fancy, but the inside was clean and the paint job was killer (high performance red).  after about a year i had to be honest with myself and admit that i simply didn't know enough about working on cars to keep a car that would have a problem every couple of months, and at 17 i didn't really have the money to fix it when it had problems.

The second was a 1997 Toyota T-100 4x4 with a small lift kit on it that i drove from when i was 18 to 23.  I got it with 110,000 miles on it and sold it with 230,000, and never had anything worse than an AC motor go out on it (even though i was in college and likely treated it a little like crap).  I used that little truck to dig some BIG trucks out of the mud over the years, and i never got it stuck where i couldnt get it out.  It was a sharp looking truck as well.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I know there have been other polls with a significantly higher number of native Americans saying they were offended by the term.  Either way, the fact that a term that is considered a slur by a decent amount of the population is used as a mascot is pretty ridiculous.  I'm curious how many people who don't see a problem with the name would walk up to a Native American and say "what's up, redskin?"  I'm willing to bet that number is zero.

Odor is my new favorite player.  Its worth noting he's still only 22, and has been in the league since he was 20, so he's definitely got some maturing to do, but Bautista is an arrogant prick, and got what was coming.  On a side note, there's no way Bautista wasn't on PEDa during his career.  There's no way he went from consistently hitting 15 homers a year to consistently hitting 45-50 in the span of one off season at the age of 29 without cheating.  That type of power surge in a player at that age is almost unprecedented.  The only clear example I can think of is Barry Bonds...

LOL, the funny thing about these Forums.  You see how the same word can mean different things.  And had we known it was coming, we probably wouldn't call it a lot.  It was "a lot" here because there wasn't any expected.  Two inches of rain in Las Vegas is a lot.  If we know it's coming, 2" ain't to bad.   I'm crazy enough, I better stop thinking about this

I'm actually a pretty avid reader.  I've read every book written by Cormac McCarthey more than once.  all of his work is phenomenal.  And you're right, the Cohen brothers did a great job staying true to the book with the movie.

Hey bullets, don't know if you have time for much reading, but the book No Country For Old Men, I thought was great.   Movie is closer to book than most, but book gives much more of the Sheriffs thoughts and reflections than they could put in the movie.  I've read it twice, but the advantage of old age is you don't remember much lol.
    Oh, great thread.

I'm not arguing that odor isn't guilty of using hard slides to break up double plays, but I will argue that the intent was different. He's sliding hard to break up a double play in this picture, which was legal at the time, and he's not cleats up a foot over the bag in this picture either. I would argue that Bautista clearly intended to injure Odor, as the slide was more dangerous, and also because Bautista knew his slide would result in an automatic out, meaning the only thing he had to gain on the play was possibly hurting Odor.

Here's what it boils down to; bautista made a mistake with his bat flip.  Everyone in the sporting world knew there would be some type of retaliation by the RANGERS.  This is baseball.  toronto expected it, the fans of both teams expected it, baseball fans in general expected it.  The problem is not that Matt Bush hit bautista.  The problem is the bat flip.  bautista would have never been hit if not for his actions. There is a huge difference in celebrating an achievement and "showing up" another team or opponent.  bautista "showed up" the RANGERS with his actions.  He paid for it with a ball to the ribs.  Very few people, outside of toronto, had a problem with this.  Everyone knew it was coming.  If the punk, bautista leaves it at that, the situation is over.  But no, he now thinks he needs to do something in return.  He goes in late and hard at 2nd in attempt to take out Odor.  He didn't slide that way to break up a double play.  He had intent to take out Odor.  Again, his mistake.  He got up and got whipped by Odor.  Very simple life lesson, do not "show up" your opponent.  If you do, be ready to pay the price!

The peg, whether you agree with it or not, is part of the "unwritten rules of baseball."  Exactly 100% of the teams in MLB would've have beaned him for that bat flip.  When he got hit, that should've ended it.  To me the slide, which was a clear and deliberate attempt to hurt Odor, was by far the worst part of all of this.  bautista didn't slide until he was at the bag, then tried to plant two cleats into Odor's stationary plant leg.  If Odor hadn't done a fantastic job of avoiding him he'd have a shattered leg or a torn acl.  I don't blame him at all for reacting the way he did.  And Bautista squared up to him and balled his fists, so I don't know why anyone is so upset about him taking one to the face.

That slide isn't legal anymore, and starting a slide when you're already at the bag into an opponent's leg in an attempt to hurt him would've caused problems even before they changed the slide rules this season.  He can't even claim he was trying to break up the double play, because that slide turns it into an automatic double play now

it all started in the playoffs last year when Bautista hit a game winning homer and threw his bat about 50 feet in the air.  So yesterday Texas finally got around to beaning him for it, which should've made everything even (unwritten rules and whatnot of baseball).  But then Bautista goes and tries to end Odor's season, and Odor wasn't having it.  He also got a good lick in on Josh Donaldson as well.  I personally thought it was great.  I lost all respect for Toronto, their team, and their fans last year when they were crying about a (proper) call and starting raining down full beer cans on the field, one of which hit a baby.
