I take great exception to your last sentence. Many of these boys that play at your so-called "NOBODY" schools play travel ball against the best in their respective sports. That is a very narrow-minded view that just doesn't make sense.

That is why I never run down another team. Just try to talk about our team, and give our boys some recognition. Now, there are some posters for some schools that make you root against a team. But the kids didn't do anything. I try not to say anything that will make my son have to back it up. I had my time, now I just want to enjoy watching him have his.

I am truly happy H-D has improved, and look for them to continue doing so.  BS always has a quality team, and they are going to be a tough game for anyone on their schedule.  I guess anything is possible, but I don't look for a blowout.  It is always a tough, hard fought game.  Both teams know exactly what the other has and there is a lot of respect between them.  I believe as a fan, you really want parity in the district.  It does no good for you to schedule a tough pre-district schedule, then only have 1 or 2 tough games throughout district.  Really looking forward to Thursday, and already looking forward to the rematch with H/D.  I do know region 4 has about 4 teams in the top 10, and probably 8 out of the top 25.  Region 3 is loaded, as always with the past 2 state champions.  Time needs to slow down a little though, my boy is a sophomore and this season is flying.  I want to enjoy every minute, and every game. 

From HD-55:
Starts at 4:30. HD will be starting Freshman Bryce Fregia on the mound today. Fregia is a talented young pitcher. HD's top ace pitcher, Kade Fraunberger pitched last game and had double digit strike outs. Both teams are 4-0 in District, HD will look to upset the small school baseball power BS. Good luck on an injury free good game, GO BOBCATS!

I truly welcome HD's improvement. Don't you really want a competitive district? If teams are playing well and pushing each other throughout district, they will be better prepared for the playoffs. I know our coaches don't let the boys sleep on anyone, and prepare them for each game. Best of luck to H-D this year, I am looking forward to the games.

I pretty much read every post when it comes to HS baseball - just love it. I see a lot of posts about "young teams". A team of young players doesn't always have to mean problems. We did not have select baseball when I was growing up. You got 18 games in little/senior league, and maybe a few more in all-stars. So, if you maxed out, scrimmages included, you might get 25 games a year. A couple years ago my son played 88 games. This experience on the field means a freshman or sophomore who is invested in travel ball should be prepared to step into a role and contribute. I love seeing Silsbee with numerous underclassmen competing, and succeeding. At Evadale we are starting four freshman, a sophomore and four seniors. Last thing is a kid doesnt have to play travel ball to be successful. It has to do with how much work they put in. I guess what I am trying to say is don't dismiss a team just becase they are young - they might just surprise you.

Great tourney, and watched a bunch of baseball over the last 2 days. It was neat getting to talk to the kids from Colorado. They said they will take the dry 8°, over our wet cold A lot of close games, and a lot of work on the part of the coaches. Thanks to all the cheerleaders for working the concession stand. All the ladies who manned the hospitality room, and all the maintenance workers who attended to everything else.

I agree with the fact this topic is pointlessly debated. I disagree with your last sentence, and your disbelief in God. If I am wrong, then I am just worm dirt; but I have faith. If you are wrong, you face an eternal damnation. There is proof every day in the beauty of a sunrise. Choose not to believe, but remember that it is your choice. The day is coming when EVERY knee shall bow. Roll your eyes in exasperation, but I think you know...I mean after all, you are ENLIGHTENED.

My interest is there!!!!! However, my son is still playing basketball and sigh......we made the playoffs. It has been even worse with all the beautiful weather. It simply can't get here fast enough.

I think the top three all have a shot at the title.  I do not really have anything concrete to put Buna over Kountze, it is just a feeling.  I think with what Kirbyville has returning, and how well they did last year they deserve to be the preseason favorite.  I give Warren the fourth spot based on pitching.  My son is a sophomore, and I am pretty familiar with most of the sophomores in the area, as we have played summer ball with several different teams.  I know Kountze has Hunter Smart (former Gladiator) and Hunter Walston (Banditos).  Warren has Kelby Weyler (Gladiator) and I think he will be the difference in getting that fourth spot.  Kirbyville has Chet Jones (Gladiator), and I believe eight returning starters.  Not real sure on what Buna or EC has in that age group, but I do know Buna has some really good athletes. Anahuac has Caleb Edmunds (Gladiator) who is finally healthy and supposedly hitting well, and Savio Fontenot (Xtreme).  Know nothing about Hardin, and my nephew plays for Deweyville, but I do not think they have much as far as pitching.  You asked for opinions, and I am just throwing mine out there.  Wish all of the teams an injury free season, and can't wait to get rolling.  I do believe the Rebels will only play Kirbyville at their tourney, and we usually scrimmage Buna early.

Very proud of Jack stepping in and doing what he has done. But knowing Jack he would defer to the line, the rb's and the wr's for the success. Humble young man and the ultimate team player.
