Nice push from Buna to make the playoffs, and then give CH all they wanted and more

Buna was cold tonight and CH hit shots in the 4th. Cougars made a good run the past few weeks. Going to miss Connell and this senior group. Coach Wilson did a good job in his first year.

That's not an upset. LaGrange district was not good. Got swept very easily. In fact, there were a few #4 seeds beat #1 seeds last night. Maybe 1 or 2 would be considered upsets. As for our area coverage, I would say Goose Creek Memorial beating Texas City was a slight upset. Also #4 seed Tenaha beating #1 seed Corrigan was a slight upset. Nothing really major.

Miller had 41 points tonight. Harris had 25.

17-5A was 2 points from sweeping 18-5A. Didn't someone say 17-5A was a trash district this year?

Tighten some things up a bit on defense and the Tigers will be okay. I couldn't care less if another team gets some sort of moral victory against up for playing hard. All that matters is who's going home and who isn't.

Feels like the end of the line for HJ and their runs to state. La Vega is as good as any 4A team as they've faced over the past 4 years or so, and this HJ team, while still excellent, doesn't feel like it's on quite the same level that they've been on the last 3 years. I'll be pulling for the Hawks, though!

Liberty was opportunistic and got A LOT of breaks and apparently they were good enough to take advantage. They almost lost the ball, but didn't, about 40 times it seemed. And they turned a bunch of those favorable bounces into points. The first quarter was almost too good, shades of the best of McCain/Adams/Bush days. I guess a letdown is always possible after a quarter like that and it came and it was a humdinger. Outscored by Liberty in the 2nd quarter? And halftime didn't fix it much they came out flat and the lead shrunk to 13 in the third, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one getting the funny feeling in the pit of my stomach. The line was what? 36? A 45 or even 50 point win wasn't out of the question. But I had a feeling something would happen. I didn't know what, but something. In the prediction thread I said around 30, maybe a few more. I haven't followed Liberty at all so #3 was a complete surprise to me. He was all over the place against the No. 3 team in the state. Is he always like that? Based on his performance tonight I think he could start for almost all 4A teams in the state, including the Tigers, or if not start then be the 6th man. I'm watching him warm up, non-descript, wearing glasses, kind of nerdy actually. And he's introduced as a start. Hmmm, I wouldn't have figured that. And then he comes out and basically keeps his lowly 4th place team in the game till they can catch their breath. I wonder if there may have been a basketball camp or two in his past.

BU fans better get there early, that's a smaller gym than Port Arthur Memorial and we know how packed it was last night here in PA.

Bears looked great tonight. Focused were running the other teams plays for them. Beating them to spots and hitting open shots. Going to be tough to beat them when they play like that!!

LCM 28-15 Halftime LCM started on 14-0 run to begin the game. Huffman settled down but LCM is shooting pretty good from 3pt line. LCM has a couple kids with two fouls.

Of local note to Southeast Texas there are now two Division II qualifiers locally with Hamshire-Fannett and Hardin-Jefferson In Divison III there's a qualifier at West Hardin and not too far away is Crockett as well
