This Tiger team may be ahead of schedule. That’s two really impressive outings against big schools with solid teams. Dallas is going to have to earn it even this year.

I’m not sure anyone actually ever cared or was actually offended by the Chain Gang. Local administrators just wanted to look they were doing something. I guarantee if they had asked the team to vote on it it would have never been changed. Call them the Chain Gang if you want. The Chain Gang sounds scary. The Blue Link sounds insultingly stupid and cheesy, like it’s something a Cub Scout den mother made up.

Put some respect on Jayron Williams name tonight. It might not show up on the scoreboard, but he made a big impact for Silsbee under the boards. I'd be tempted to give him player of the game.

I have made calls in that area and I have supervised officers who have made calls in that area. I could see a situation where Orange County was requested to respond as a closer unit in a serious situation. PAPD many times has responded to emergency calls outside of the city. That is normal. A few years ago I and other officers responded to a Jefferson County jurisdiction call of two or three people shot on the beach. The First ground units to get there were PA. That is routine for police officers. Fairly recently like within the last year, I had an officer stop a DWI driver in Orange County but outside of the city of Port Arthur. The police agency that had jurisdiction over that area refused to help. I had the officer go ahead and make the arrest and transport the driver to the Orange County jail and file charges over there since it was their jurisdiction. I think PA did annex part of the Gulf of Mexico. Some of that went to appeals court and I can’t remember if it was state court or a federal court.

Porter is right at the projected cutoff number between 5A 1 and 6A. They may be the smallest school in 6A. NCISD will not opt them up in my opinion if they fall in 5A numbers.

I know he was the head football coach, lost to Longview, I was at that game. But when i coached track I met him and was amazed at how many athletes were out for track which showed me he has the ability to attract athletes to sports which helps. I am an old school coach who grew up where everyone ran track, no questions, but currently, track (the most important football offseason workout) is one of the least participated in sport because 1) it is difficult 2) it takes gonads to have to race at track meets and NOT win. Only one winner and todays athletes will get their feelings hurt and rather not run than to get a trophy. I thought upon seeing the great turnout in track that he would also be successful in any sport as the head. The great football coaches are successful at other sports and also in the classroom. I have coached withy a lot of coaches who brag," I ain't worth a dang in the classroom, but boy I can coach football." WRONG, if your character is that weak that you abuse your role as a teacher you are not a good coach. The best coaches i have worked with in 3 and a half decades were also quality teachers.

Well with shaw back the secondary will be better. If w.o safeties play well they will be hard to beat.bcz of 2 reasons.one they have to run the alleys to help contain the Qb on read options.and second that deep post route and the deep streak that they run.if they play well w.o should win.and we should be able to run a bunch of screens when they blitz off the edge.

Not surprising. A 6A school like West Brook will always have better under levels than a 4A school whose varsity team is already loaded with soph. and freshmen.

I'm not sure what else you do in El Paso....its a nearly six hour one way drive to the next closest district opponent (note I said CLOSEST)....West Texas presents major travel challenges that are hard to imagine for anyone not familiar with the geography

Is Goose Creek insisting Lee stay with the other two or what? Likely could have a chance down in Division 2 to win a playoff game perhaps one year but not against the Paetow and Manvels of the world. I feel like that Div 1 to Div 2 might be the steepest drop of any drop in classification.

And as much as we miss the ton of work he put into this site, we miss his quick wit and insightful posts more. He was one of a kind and irreplaceable in every sense of the word. But thank you to Mike (and Lisa) for doing all you can to try and pick up the slack. As bullets said, I don’t think it will ever be like it was. That’s what happens when you try to replace the irreplaceable.
