Just FYI, from Vidor perspective, nothing happened at the end of this game to be disrespectful or anything like that. We played til the buzzer and pressed til the end to try to stay alive in the game. Someone messed up a responsibility and he got a breakaway dunk/layup. I couldn't care less if he scored it or dribbled it back up top and ran the clock out. Part of the game.

Yeah, it wasn’t flagrant disregard for sportsmanship, that’s for sure. Underwear15 just needs a hug from his mama.

People on here are really crying about a dunk to end the game?? Why are we making our kids so soft? If you don't want to get scored on go choose another extra curricular activity. You should be a killer on the court or field, that's what the great ones do.

You realize for Silsbee to win they have to beat Lumberton and have Lumberton lose another. If they are the only ones to beat Lumberton they are co district champs

If Silsbee wins district, they would likely meet HJ or Huffman in 3rd round. Getting to regional round would be bold for this group.

Don't feed the troll... I'm sure he knows Lumberton has been solid the last 3 years or so. This guy is just looking for a reason to bash a kid or a program that's been on the rise. Probably because McClure torched little Johnny at some point earlier this year for 40+.

Maybe so. I still think the ndns put the spanking on the dogs for a couple of years. This year sophomore group has all the right pieces on both sides of the ball.

Vidor also got hit hard by Covid. They are closer to the other teams in the district than their record indicates.

McClure might have had 12 points, Vidor did everything they could on defense but just didn’t have enough on the offensive end.

HF wins 64 to 33. Also, 2 out of the 3 are back from their injuries. Denson is still not playing yet. Finally, no disrespect to Livingston, but the fans that thought they could compete for a district championship were way off. HJ, Huffman, and HF are by far the best three teams in this district at full strength.

Tradition and expectations as well as confidence. These are players traits. But the key, IMO, is talent, continuity of scheme, good coaching and great leadership from the top down.

Just saw video of the so called dunk at the end. Vidor was actually applying full court pressure on the inbounds and Lumberton threw over the top of it for break away. Nothing to really get upset about. And it was more of a lay up than a dunk.

Yes and I understand that as well. But to say that it's horrible sportsmanship is a reach. Frowned upon, yes.

Personally, I really don't have an issue with the dunk at the end of the game. But it's kind of an unwritten rule of the game that if you are dribbling out the clock with a double digit lead and the opposing team is allowing you to do so, then you don't take a shot at the last second. Not saying this was the case here because I was not there. A little sportsmanship doesn't hurt anyone.

@Benchwarmer9 no breaks here from me. This is my home and he showed our boys no love or respect. Dude called his on player out on Facebook for the world to see as being weak. Same kid is flourishing under coaches now. He had fake discipline dude would shake other kids hand from the other team after my nephew won and give hugs to the coaches and then verbally abuse our boys. Wilson is tough be he always there for our boys and puts them first. Why did Barstow get ran off, now the facts before you defend. He mistreated our boys. So no sympathy here, he cheated my nephew out of a senior season.

I don’t know what games you have been watching, but I have seen numerous teams score, dunk and so on with it a lot more then 10 points. if you can’t handle it don’t play it goes both ways.

Bethea has them going. He’s Wilson’s brother in law and they only do basketball. We have to fix our junior high program with new coaches to help these guys out. My Stangs beat the Bears up tonight. Nobody is winning titles without overall talent near the top of your classification. Nowhere was that more apparent in the title games than Cedar Park vs Denton Ryan. State title winning coach with his best team ever gets destroyed by just a way more talented DR team. Crosby was talented enough across the board to make it to the title game. Aledo had multiple SEC kids on the team along with several other D1 recruits. Probably 11 total. We could’ve switched coaches and we would’ve still gotten stomped. Yeah, the coaching is great but out of a 2% black population at their school the fact that 40% percent of them end up as D1 recruits is what has their program where it is. To further expand upon that look at Barbers Hill. They have a head coach with multiple state titles, the necessary funding and still struggle to finish above third place in district play because of their talent. Same story can be said for TW’s predecessor who showed up at BH with two 5A/6A titles and got run off/retired. Weird how all the elite coaches coach at places with either elite money or elite talent.

Coaching is Huge. The Coach has to be able to build a culture to keep the kids.

Haven’t followed Vidor much since they dropped down but hopefully the weather behaves, Vidor seems to get the nasty end of severe weather.
