Couldn’t agree more. It’s absolutely pathetic that grown men get on here to bash the Lumberton football program and the kids. My question is for what? Lumberton is a program that has historically struggled. It’s a huge accomplishment for Lumberton to get to the 2nd round of the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Great season for the Raiders. They got beat by a team who quite possibly will be holding up the trophy as state champs at the end of the season.

If you notice, Coach #23 only comments on Lumberton losses. Nothing but a troll looking for a reason to bash Lumberton Coaching. Clearly, he knows his stuff and should be hired on at a school near you. Lol

LOL. Last words of many teams we've played Why would they show anything against this Lumberton team? If you said beatable I'd have no issue, but "very" beatable? We beat the maybe the best dline in the state when we played PG.

Boys and girls this is playoff football.

Carthage is a great team. They did what they were supposed to do which is advance without getting any kids hurt. I hope that part happened because I saw a few kids leave the field. What I'm most proud of is that our coaches and kids came in ready to fight and let the chips fall where they may. We killed ourselves early with bad snaps, a chop block, etc which would have made for a closer game. But even into the 4th quarter, I saw kids launching their bodies into a bigger stronger opponent and never giving up. I would never question a coach using timeouts at the end of an unwinnable game to try to score again. It's one more chance to teach kids that it is never ok to give up or lay down. If someone can't understand that, then they need to spend some time looking in the mirror. The Lumberton players had nothing but good things to say about the Carthage players. That says a lot about those kids, their parents and coaches. Great job Carthage!!! I think some other parents could learn a few things from your example. Great season Raiders!!

Didn't plan on getting knocked in the 2nd round....Karma took its course and the season is history....You play to win every game you play if possible and learn from the losses....its called Life...

Not trying to run down Lumberton but the last 3 points were against 9th graders. Honestly Carthage JV could’ve beaten Lumberton. The 15 and 14 by Gilmer and PG were real. Rest of the scoring was done on the 2nd team for the most part besides maybe 7 points a game. And to call the play calling predictable is silly. Could’ve ran sweep left and sweep right all game and won by 30. Cannot believe Lumberton was in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Silsbee had 487 yards rushing on 53 carries. Needless to say, our The Tree Restaurant Player(s) of the Game is the Silsbee Offensive Line.

The programs that are thriving now are ones that were tested and grew already during the year. You guys can’t help which District you’re lumped in, but padding your record by playing cupcakes like us in non-district doesn’t prepare the boys for the postseason. You guys should be locking up with some tough squads in non district and then cruising through District kinda like Newton does.

Thanks for the updates and congrats to BH. Won’t miss the game next week for sure. TW has those kids playing good ball.

Dayton had 8 district championships from 1941-1977. Then they hire Stewart and roll of 9 district championships in his 15 years as head coach I believe. Then he semi retires and Dayton did not win a district championship without him as a head coach. In comes the new head coach and the last 4 years Dayton is averaging around 2 wins a year. Guess we had a huge Hispanic invasion before he got here and then another one now that he’s gone. Side note the all-time leading passer in Dayton history is a 5”7 Hispanic kid. I believe around 6000 yds a bunch of playoff wins including a regional final against Brenham that Dayton was leading with about 2 minutes to go in the game. Make no mistake about it there are going to be years teams have more talent than others but Stewart could take an average team and win a ton of games. I would never expect Dayton to be state contenders every year but to not win a single district game in 2 years is horrible.

Clearly, Bellville is better than they were last year. And Jasper clearly was not as good as they were last year. Just listened to the game, but time after time Jasper shot itself in the foot. Fumbles, interceptions, and penalties after penalty. Apparently from comments in prior weeks this has been a common occurrence. I thought surely Jasper would get their act together for the playoffs. Didn't happen. Congrats to Bellville for coming ready to play!

Tigers tallest player is 6’1. This game was much as expected. PA got as many shots as they needed inside most of the time. And they weren’t about to let Braelonget started. He was covered tightly and denied the ball most of the time. He never could get into a rhythm hence his shots weren’t falling.

Lumberton was in the second round because they won their first round game genius. If you want more competition in the playoffs, draw the 4th seed next year. The Raiders played one of the best teams in the state. What were they supposed to do? Not play the game because they aren't the best team in the state? Yeah, it was a tough second round draw, but they showed up and played their hearts out. Honestly, if it wasn't for several short fields due to special teams problems, Carthage doesn't score 55. On top of that, Carthage didn't look like world beaters to me. If Carthage is so good, why not pitch the shut out against them? The 1's allowed 14 points on defense. By the looks and hype of the Carthage team it should've been a 60+ point shutout but it wasn't, Lumberton did what they could and it's something those kids can take pride in. BTW, you started your post with "Not trying to run down Lumberton" then you turnaround and run Lumberton in the ground. And for what? Probably a grown man running down a bunch of kids whose playing days are over now. You should feel real good about yourself.

My estimation is that BH paid about $1 million to the Westeberg family for that district championship. TW has been there 3 years and BH employees TW, his wife, his son and his son’s wife. If TW makes $154k then you can assume the other three split around $200k putting you in the $350k annually neighborhood. I guess we got a bargain on Coach Prieto for having us in the area round his first year here while he’s probably the second lowest paid coach in the district? Keep in mind, BH’s best player is Casey Collier. They also had to give his mom a job to get them to transfer out of Crosby when his sister was in school. They have a whole lot invested in this.
