  1. I have under good authority that BH will be flying grass in from a Nederland area pasture to be placed in our air conditioned practice dome! Most have agreed that they will practice on the grass as long as the AC is at 70 deg or lower. God help us if we get a stain on the uni’s. with this extraordinary effort I put BH up by 14 in this contest! BH 42 Ned 28

    Week 6 State Rankings

Rankings mean nothing. Huntsville is considerably better that us. I hate being ranked. It just means higher expectations. I am happy with PNG being the best they can be regardless of rankings.

  7. Pleasant Grove, likely to win State in 4a-D2, runs the Wing T and they threw for 2000 yards last year. Just because you are a run based offense doesn’t mean you can’t throw it.

  11. They ran the spread in 99 and early 2000’s when coach Fuller was there in Lumberton. They also had a D1 Qb in Tony Eckert that went to SMU. I believe he is still in the record books for most passing attempts in a game against Jasper. Lumberton people complained about Fuller they were throwing to much and they ran him off. He was actually ahead of the ball game. I’m sure if Babin had the QB and receivers he would be in the spread.

  13. And Nederland barely lost to wos, does that automatically mean that Silsbee will beat wos? And wos hung with Newton, so that doesn’t equal Newton blasting Nederland. Can’t always compare common opponents

  15. Rankings both mean “nothing” and “something” at the same time. They don’t tell you who will win the game on Friday, but they do give you a reasonable prediction of who might. That is, rankings mean nothing for some purposes, but they are helpful for other purposes, especially if you happened to not know much about any of the teams. I’d say being on the list tells us more than where on the list you are. Looking at the top ten, knowing nothing about any of the teams, you would be highly confident that #1 would beat nearly any team in the state in that classification. You would be less confident saying #1 would beat #2, because they are likely too closely matched to make a strong prediction. And, you would be more confident saying that #1 would beat #10 than you would be saying that, for example, #9 would beat #10. All that being said, everyone knows Huntsville is better than PNG, but Huntsville also lost two games in a row (albeit to really good teams) and rankings always punish losses. That’s a big way rankings are not helpful- they don’t seem to factor in who you lost to. On the other hand, most two-loss teams would drop out of the top ten, so maybe Huntsville is getting credit for its quality of losses. Just thinking out loud.

  25. So which is it ? was that the kids fault or was it the coaches ? You seem to have it figured out Forrest. You don't like people pointing fingers at coaches but don't have a problem making snide remarks about Crosby and Dayton teams . ----- ( you know' Team' includes players and coaches- right ) Everything is on the players' then why don't those kids coach themselfs and save the school half a million a year on coaching staff wages. An indiscipline poorly coached team will always commit more infractions that a good coached team and will lose more games. Wrong again Gump you win with a combination of the two - a talented team won't win that many games without the discipline and guidance from the coaching staff. Jerry Stewart coaching at Dayton had the same gene pool to pick from as the coaches before him and after him why did he win so much while the other HCs didn't ? Because his teams bought into the winning culture respected and looked up to him just like Rio had with Crosby ... You are obviously clueless and have a problem with fans airing their concerns and frustration you must be one of those "coach can do no wrong and should always be respected and not held accountable conformers ) that thinks Johny can get ahead with a little sugar sprinkled in the right direction. And I say that with all due respect- Sir . 26. seems as though Lumberton been a bottom feeder for awhile and fans have low expections. don't sell your team short by saying statements that make it seem Silsbee should have beat the brakes off yall...that's making excuses for losing imo. seems like Lumberton is getting better. not to take away from Silsbee it is what I os

  28. OK. Please explain how the penalties are not the kids fault? A statement like that tells me a big part of the problem starts as home. Your kids effort is more your responsibility than the coaches. 11 in the box is as dumb as a 3-3-5. RIO is gone and from the talent I see on the field, he bailed at the right time. You had a great talent run. It's not there right now and it is getting worse in the future. I went to the 8th grade games against BH and BH had more team speed on both sides of the ball than Crosby and they are split in 2 schools in Jr. high. If anyone thinks this Crosby team has the talent that the past teams have had you are just not honestly viewing the games. Rio would not be winning a district championship with this team, but heck TW doesn't have Kyler at Barbers Hill and look at what he has accomplished!! OH wait it's still nothing. My point is that you win with talent, get off the coaches. Dayton PLEASE READ ALSO because your highlight of the game Friday was your team running on the field during the National Anthem. Demand more from your own kids. All I hear is the effort was there, kids played hard. BULL everyone knows what comes next. All I saw was a lack of effort to hold blocks, 2 kids going in motion because they don't know the plays, late hits, jumping off sides, walking off the field and finger pointing. That is on the players

  32. In the Pound. In the mud, BH wins by 3. If Ned wins, this District is really up for grabs. Currently, most think it's between PNG & BH. I doubt DC will be undefeated in Dist play. Btw, this ought to be a durn good one for those in attendance.

  33. Last year's soph. and freshmen class were not the classes I have been referring to. This year's freshmen and 8th grade is the next good group so I highly doubt they will be any help come this November. Good try though.

  34. The "good ole boy" system is back in Dayton. The wrong people ( people that don't care about Football being great every year ) are making decisions about the Football Program again in Dayton. I did a little research for everyone : Nobody cares about Football, just put a team on the field and hope the players will play... 1991 : 2-8. Terrible 1992 : 0-10. Terrible 1993 : 1-9. Terrible 1994 : 4-6. Bad 1995 : 2-8. Terrible Somebody comes in and finally gives a crap, and DEMANDS winning... 1996 - 2010 ( Jerry Stewart Years - in full control of everything regarding athletics/football and won't let ANYONE interfere with winning ) Wins, Wins, Wins, and more Wins. State Championship Appearance, State Semi's, many Regional Championship Appearances, many District Championships, and 14 STRAIGHT years in the playoffs. 2011 : 9-4. ( Hancock Era - still running the program how Jerry did ). Very good, Still Winning 2012 : 9-4. Still Winning 2013 : 6-6. Average, but still in playoffs 2014 : 8-4. Still Winning 2015 : 7-4. Decent, but still in playoffs We don't want the Coaches being that demanding on the kids, we want them to have fun, we just want greater program participation... 2016 : 4-6. Bad 2017 : 3-7. Terrible 2018 : 0-10. Terrible 2019 : 1-3...? Anybody notice anything glaring about these statistics... Kinda like a pattern isn't it?

  37. I watched game film several times and did not see a penalty on that play or how can you call a pass interference on a ball that was five yards short of the intended receiver. Now, on the roughing the passer call against Silsbee LB, I can see where the ref can call targeting. Other that, Silsbee and Lumberton earned the flags.

  38. You think so lowly of your team??? Like I said earlier I think the slot-t suites the talent of Lumberton personal. I can see Lumberton making the top two spots, will they? If Lumberton can get better at passing they'll be trouble. FYI, Silsbee has not looked like a top 5 4A team all year, every Tiger fan will tell you that! Also, we where a good team last year when we beat Lumberton and looked how that turned out.

  40. For the rest of the season, follow the teams Nederland lost to. Yes two are smaller teams, but far from typical.

  41. A 12 point win would constitute to barely winning after forcing 4 turnovers by the raiders with 2 of them coming while Lumberton was inside the 30 and looking to score. I would be worried if I were a silbee tiger football fan.

  45. A few notes and suggestions gleaned from the game you worked last night: 1) Give the score more often. 2) Your color commentator's mic was off for a portion of the broadcast. His voice could only be heard through your mic. 3) Why was there a rooting interest for BC? Since that was the case (esp. with the color analyst), it's better to make that clear from the start. Come out and say you're there for the "home town" BC Cardinals or whoever the team is you're representing. If this is NOT the case, then try harder to be an evenly sided observer in the commentary and reactions to the game. I lost count how many times the color guy said "that was a big hit by (BC player every time)." There was an obvious "BC fan" view from the booth. I enjoy having Texan Live as a audio and video option to not being at the games in person. So, for that, thank you for offering this service. Think of the phrase "we treat you better" when doing the broadcasts. 😉
