  1. Past hour
  2. All’s fair in love and war. The Republicans started a war. Civil disobedience has its place in a democratic society. The price to pay is borne by the practitioners. Their respective voters should decide the penalty/reward for that disobedience. Not the governor, legislature, or courts.
  3. There's definitely space issues when you get below 4A because we've tried to keep the magazine at 400 pages. With more and more schools playing football, that dance gets tougher each year Depending on the team we may have a longer write-up on the team page on the website...which team/district are you referring to?? I've passed your feedback on to the editors, etc.
  4. You don’t think the decision to do redistricting first was political? Abbott could have taken care of Texans first, then Trump. But no. Abbott knew the quorum bust would happen, so do redistricting first and blame Dems for ignoring Texans when they break the quorum. Texans should have been put first.
  5. How you figure Democrats set the rules? They are constitutionally mandated and have been used since Texas became a state. You need to clear your head of all that partisan crap and learn to think for yourself. I don’t deny my party affiliation, but I still practice critical thinking in my decision processes. Sounds like junior high.
  6. Good for them.....They are getting fined $500 a day What is also good for them, is Abbott can call a special session after special session......lets see how long they can afford to not do their job. It also included the items below that now are put on hold because Democrats are mad they don't have the votes to change anything......Elections have consequences...... FLOOD EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS: Legislation to strengthen emergency communications and other response infrastructure in flood-prone areas throughout Texas. PROTECT CHILDREN FROM THC: Legislation making it a crime to provide hemp-derived products to children under 21 years of age. REGULATE HEMP-DERIVED PRODUCTS : Legislation to comprehensively regulate hemp-derived products, including limiting potency, restricting synthetically modified compounds, and establishing enforcement mechanisms, all without banning a lawful agricultural commodity. PROTECT UNBORN CHILDREN: Legislation further protecting unborn children and their mothers from the harm of abortion. BAN TAXPAYER-FUNDED LOBBYING: Legislation prohibiting taxpayer-funded lobbying, including the use of tax dollars to hire lobbyists and payment of tax dollars to associations that lobby the Legislature. PROTECT HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS: Legislation, similar to Senate Bill No. 1278 from the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, that protects victims of human trafficking from criminal liability for non-violent acts closely tied to their own victimization. WATER PROJECT INCENTIVES: Legislation, similar to Senate Bill No. 1253 from the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, that authorizes political subdivisions to reduce impact fees for builders who include water conservation and efficiency measures. STATE JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT: Legislation, similar to Senate Bill No. 2878 from the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, relating to the operation and administration of the Judicial Department of state government.
  7. Surely you can see the difference........if you can't then you should read up on Congress having a recess versus job abandonment.....
  8. Today
  9. Was It Coach West ? And If So Did He Take His Kids With Him ?
  10. Republicans complain about Texas Democrats fleeing yet just days ago, they themselves fled DC to avoid voting on the Epstein files. Why? To protect a convicted Felon sitting in the Oval Office. One side dodges accountability. The other fights for democracy. That’s the real Hypocrisy! I agree with the author.
  11. I wouldn't mind government ran stores for people needing food assistance. These grocery stores would have basics and not ribeye's or lobster. These folks could be issues a card that only works in the government run grocery stores. This would limit what they could purchase.....Plus beans, rice and ground meat don't have a huge resale value...
  12. The OC/OL, DL and WR coach all left
  13. A little early, but ready for the new season in the new digs. This meeting marks the 65th Border Battle between these two heated rivals. The rivalry began in 1946, and is one of the oldest town vs. town, big school rivalries in the state.. It was honored as one of the Great American Rivalry Series Games in the nation in 2015. La Porte leads the all-time series 32-31-1. Deer Park has won the last 4 contests. This will be the first time the game has been played at La Porte since 2022. Not a more fitting game to initiate the new Bulldog Stadium than this long time rivalry. The capacity of the stadium will be tested right off the bat. La Porte finished last season 10-4 in 11-5A D1 with a second consecutive District Championship under Coach Berneathy and staff, and eventually lost to district mate Angleton in the R3 Finals 24-21. They return a solid core of players with an eye on a bigger prize in 2025. Gone is the three-headed monster of Barnes, Sandolph & Simon. So, it will be interesting to see how the offense is adapted with Simon as the feature back. La Porte returns 7 on offense, and 7 on defense. La Porte is ranked 6th in the State in 5AD1 by DCTF. Deer Park finished last season 8-3 and 6-1 in 24-6A and lost to North Shore in Bidistrict. They will have new--but talented--skill position players. They return solid, experienced, big (as always) lines on both sides of the ball. The Deer return 4 on offense, and 5 on defense. DCTF is predicting a 3rd place finish for the Deer behind Dickinson & Clear Springs, and another playoff appearance in 6AD1. This rivalry game always has some unexpected twists and turns. It's like NASCAR having Daytona right out of the gates to start the season. Emotions are always high for both teams. But, this year may have added incentive as La Porte will want to record a tone setting inaugural victory even more at the new Bulldog. Deer Park will want to ruin the opening with a win of their own. Deer Park won the last meeting in 2024 at Abshier 25-22. The game should be broadcast on the free LPSportsnet YouTube channel for those not lucky enough to get seats.
  14. Since when did mayor become such a powerful office? $billions will be spent on a job that pays $250k.
  15. Redistricting should ALWAYS be about the numbers and not political gain or loss. When the population landscapes change, that is time to redistrict. That's warranted. Any other reason for redistricting is simply to gain a political advantage. Neither side should do it. I will say, the Dems that have fled to break quorum should be replaced. Immediately!
  16. So what you are saying is Republicans need to be more like Democrats. Got it
  17. Any new basketball players after the first day of practice? lol
  18. [Hidden Content] Pic gallery of OC teams
  19. [Hidden Content] Both sides have their problems but the argument that Republicans and Democrats are no different is ridiculous.
  20. The articles, magazine, Texan live, and year around content seem worth it to me. If it’s not worth it to others then don’t pay it lol
  21. Probably can’t tell much from shorts, T shirts, and helmets lol
  22. You still didn’t answer my question. Fine speech, but the bottom line is Republicans and Democrats can use the same tactics and it’s kowtowing if Republicans do it (specifically Trump) but no complaints from you if Democrats do it.
