According to the article in the WSJ I posted above, Senate Republicans have—apparently—finally had enough.

Many older folks (not the only ones, but more susceptible) are easily fooled by AI. AIPAC aligned ads falsely portrayed Massie in numerous ways. They didn’t vote for Gallrein because they knew what he stood for because they never even heard him debate or campaign. He was an unknown who said he would do whatever Trump wanted, and reinstate the draft. Yes. Money made a big difference.

All of us saw what happened in J6 and are well aware that serious crimes were committed. The fact that Trump pardoned everyone, including those who’d already been convicted, and even those who admitted their crimes in plea deals was just wrong to any decent, law-abiding person. The idea that the guys who smeared their own human feces on the walls of Capitol offices during their attempt to overturn the results of the election are somehow entitled riches from the American taxpayer is an idea that no reasonable person will agree with. Trump and his followers might have finally blown past their last exit with a lot of former Republican voters.

Big outside money didn’t hurt either.

The voters that voted for Gallrein didn’t care that he wanted to bring back the draft. They didn’t care he was a rubber stamp for Trump. The majority of Gallrein’s voters were white, 56+, and fairly well off financially. Everyone under 56 went big for Massie. With the demographics in KY-4, 56 and unders outnumber those 56 and above. That tells me the Boomers turned out to vote, and the younger crowd didn’t. Incidentally, other articles point out that older folks are the only group that still believes the U.S. should always aid, support, and believe Israel unconditionally. Actually, it shows how not smart that Trump is… he just canned Cassidy from Louisiana and endorsed Paxton in Texas… that means that he just lost two votes in the senate until the end of the year. It’s why they just went home instead of passing his budget reconciliation that would have funded the 1.776 billion dollar slush fund for his friends and the billion dollar appropriation for the ballroom. Thune had no choice but to send everybody home because he doesn’t have the votes. Same thing with the war powers act in the House. Johnson canceled it because they don’t have the votes… Trump keeps stepping on his own party because they won’t rubber-stamp everything that he comes up with, and it’s about to bite him in the butt.
