Newton and Franklin had a great team that year !! CC did as well .. we beat Newton 26-20 that year, it was a war… Had it not been for that freakish of a team kirbyville … we’d have been playing muleshoe at state that year! We gave them all they wanted tho… KTRE said whoever won , would go to state with no problems, and they did ! It was 7-3 at halftime.. but our RB went down in the 4th QT .. and we didn’t have but a freshman to put in .. just wasn’t meant to be .

My opinion he shouldn’t be there long. We shall see

What in Scott Suratts background makes you think he could have similar results at Huntington? Has Suratt ever been a HC at a school that was not a perennial winner? or an all time losing school? With no budget? See how that works?

Good question. I believe Jasper ISD is not in the black therefore not sure they have that luxury to have that many on staff without being full time employees. I could be wrong.

Are these guys being hired as full-time faculty? I know UIL changes things, but I think the rule is if you are retired with 20 years of experience or more you can be an assistant coach and not a full-time employee. Would only need to pay a coaching stipend in those instances. Not sure if that is still allowed. Andy Evans father did it for several years at EC for football as did my old man for a baseball squad.
