BobCat22 Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Orangefield school board has set a bond election for May 2 for improvements to athletic facilities. The improvements will be turf to football, baseball and softball fields as well as expanded seating, additional lighting and additional parking. Also new pressbox at the football stadium. These are much needed upgrades. Hopefully it will pass this time. Mr. Buddy Garrity, TrojanWarrior08, CS. and 1 other 4 Quote

WOSdrummer99 Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 Couple OF residents i spoke with said no way. Something about their water bill is highest rate in the state. Quote
88Warrior Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 Absolutely no dog in this hunt, but to me this is the correct way to do this type of bond. Having it be a standalone vote instead of buried in or attached to a bond for new school buildings/buses etc..is much more transparent. A lot of taxpayers do not mind additional tax dollars going to buildings but oppose those dollars going towards an artificial turfed field that some may consider more of a nice to have than a necessity… Quote

I can understand that response. Orangefield does have some municipality issues that need addressed. Quote

Sharpie98 Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 A lot of people in Orangefield support the athletic bond too, so it should be interesting to see how it plays out. Part of it is parking lots, which we need pretty badly. Much of the discussion has been about missed practice time compared to other schools especially in baseball. Quote

Old Bald Man Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago By law they have to seperate the Athletic portion of the bond from the rest of the district needs. Any athletic area that seats more than 1,000 must be a "stand alone" vote, that changed in 2019. Quote
