Hope it never gets that bad, our upcoming boys numbers in JH are better. D-2 next year is needed badly.

They can't drop to 1A and compete for a UIL district championship.  They could opt to play a six man "outlaw" schedule which is playing as an independent.  However, at this point a couple of issues would make even that option difficult.  First, you'd have a tough time getting any meaningful schedule together as most schools already have a full slate scheduled.  Second and more important, I doubt most coaches would start a six man season with just 8 players as due to injuries and other factors you'd be forfeiting a lot of games.

One of the best teams played their entire year with only 6. Their rivalry game was actually 6 vs. 6, the definition of iron man.

Yes, that includes JV.  Big freshman class of 38, with a lot of boys (can hear folks from big schools laughing). Didn't have enough last year for a JV team.  I think Sr class has 28 kids.  With small schools, ever year is a numbers game. But you know that. Feast or famine.

And as you can imagine HD55, I'd guess of our 45, probably 18 or more are Freshmen.  Been here bout 5 yrs, and it fascinates me how, percentage wise, the numbers change from one year (class) to the next.
