Gaitan played a fantastic game, banged up... He could not have done much more than he did. The INT's fall on the play calling, not the kid.

Banged up is the nice way to say it. The kid played tough.

2nd Quarter: Unsportsmanship Flag (off setting, #1 Harrell, #2 Chapel Hill)
3rd Quarter: Unsportsmanship Flag (Tackled on their sideline, flips ball to official, Chapel Hill kid walks in front of it)

After 2 Unsportsmanship flags, automatic ejection.

Exactly how we all saw it from press box. Chase was trying to flip ball to side judge and CH player just happened to step in front as he was tossing the ball. Hit CH player in face, ref threw flag for unsportsmanlike penalty. Was a bogus call and took a major player out of the game for Huffman when it was still a close ball game.

While I'm not always a fan of the play calling, I wouldn't say it caused any of the picks? Two of the picks were on balls that sailed and were tipped by the receiver, the other was a throw that really showed how much of an injuring the QB was playing with. Thrown all arm and a few weeks ago gets there but with the injury falls short. He threw some good balls and made good decisions, but when you play hurt sometimes your body just doesn't do what you want it to.

QB played with heart and did a good job, we were a better team to have him back in the lineup. Now the boys get in the weight room and I sit around waiting for softball season.

@poo22 there is no need to call out any kids. They are young men who do the best they can. They show up in early August and work their tails off to try and represent their community, school, and their family. No matter what you think was wrong with him, there is no need to question his heart. You should support the kids no matter what.

Congrats Huffman on a great season. Not bad to finish 9-2 and second in district when most people said you would finish no better than 5th.

To the KIDS on the team, be proud of what you accomplished and do not let one person put a damper on your season.

Calling out a kid like that is considered bad form on this site, a member since 2010 should know that. Though maybe you did know and that is why you changed your screen name on game day, before making all of your post since on this thread.

Fun site fact: There is a user tool on the profile screen that shows screen name history so your original screen name is easily gained. D'oh.

Another fun fact, I have finally found how to find the kids who seem to get all this "special treatment". Turns out all you have to do is drive up to the field house after school. You will see them in the weight room lifting or on the field running routes/sprints/agilities. Maybe even the coaches see them when they are staying late watching film or some such. D'oh

    • The greatest point on all of this, and exactly what makes it a great day in SE Texas is the commercials are over!!!!  Phelan wasn’t all bad, Covey wasn’t all bad, but by the end of it I would have voted for Brewster’s “None of the above!”  Politicians serve their own interests and everyone’s politician is bad (except for theirs of course).  I personally am for: 1) Higher fuel prices, 2) More taxes and restrictions on private property owners, 3) Cancelling student-loan and even credit card debt, 4) Covid restrictions (bring back masks) 5) Giving more tax money away to countries at war (except Israel), 6) Tearing apart the nuclear family 7) Supporting college kids to protest anything and everything they want with no consequences, 😎 Higher and higher food prices 😎  Go Biden/Harris - just MASA (Make America Soft Again), Beto for a high-cabinet spot.
    • Thanks for the info, I didn't check the primary vote count.  I was posing that, based on anecdotal evidence, many who did not vote in the primary showed up for the runoff, and apparently voted for Phelan.  My next door neighbors were two that voted runoff only and voted for Covey, so it went both ways I guess.   The Houston Chronicle posted quotes from Covey accusing many Dems of voting in the runoff.  Obviously if they were able to vote in the runoff then they didn't vote in the primary, unless the voted in the Rep primary to begin with of course. .  "Covey’s campaign released a lengthy statement after the results came in, calling Phelan an “Austin swamp creature and King of the Democrats.” The campaign accused Phelan of courting Democrat voters in Jefferson County to bolster his early vote numbers, but Covey did not say he would seek a recount." Anyway, it looks like it's a done deal, until November.
    • WooHoo, the RANGERS win today 6-1 and win the series with arizona. 1st series win in the last 6. Maybe things are starting to change!!!
    • That is what I thought but I figured you folks would be able to find it for sure. Was a little tougher back then with fewer teams in the playoffs.
    • Bingo! I didn’t like the move, if Lamar would have stayed from the get go they could have benefited like McNeese did and be able to host confrence tournaments in Beaumont possibly… but I did hear LU is playing a big factor in bringing these schools back… which hope SLC rewards them in some way.
